Chapter 14: Dream

With the atmosphere lightened, Lu Zhi began to share her experiences from the start of the apocalypse - the abnormal Lunar Eclipse, the emergence of zombies, the discovery of supernatural powers, the appearance of mutated animals and plants, and the hardships faced by people trying to survive in a world with scarce resources. She also explained how her hair turned white and her eyes turned silver, presenting it all as if it were a dream she had once had during sleep. Hiding the reality of the brutal and dangerous world she had navigated. She didn't want her family to worry or be burdened with guilt. She also chose not to mention the times she was close to death, fighting zombies or evading capture.



Shen Lian felt uneasy listening to her words. He knew her "dream" was a genuine account of her experiences, but he also understood her reasons for downplaying the harsh reality. Their experiences had been vastly different—she was a lone wolf, surviving on her own, while he had a team to rely on before the apocalypse. He admired her strength and resilience, knowing that she faced immense challenges without any support.



Lu Zhi's last "dream" involved Shen Lian accidentally stumbling into the laboratory where she was held captive. She chose not to reveal that she had helped him and even requested him to kill her to end her suffering. It was an act of selflessness and love, but she didn't want her family to misunderstand or blame ShenLian for her decision.



Afraid that her family might not believe her, Shen Lian decided to demonstrate his powers. He activated his ability, [CHAOS EMBODIMENT], and made a vase on the table levitate and move with his mind. This power granted him control over chaotic energy, enabling him to disrupt order and create unpredictable effects in his surroundings. Lu Zhi was taken aback as she witnessed his unique power, one that did not fit into any of the standard categories of powers.



Lu Zhi knew that in the end of time, there were only ten elements: fire, wind, water, wood, thunder, ice, space, healing, spiritual, and poison. Yet Shen Lian's abilities defied categorization, just like her own. This also the reason why they had both captured the attention of the laboratory for possessing powers that were beyond the norm.

"Zhuli, is what I'm seeing right now true?!"

"Yes, yes!!!" The two youngest twin brothers were so excited when they saw ShenLian's powers that their faces turned flushed with anticipation.



Her family looked on with awe and surprise at Shen Lian's demonstration. Lu Zhi smiled, grateful that Shen Lian's powers had lent credence to her story. She felt a sense of relief knowing that her family was beginning to understand and accept the reality of her experiences, even if they were still shielded from some of the more painful details.

"Baby Sister, then what power do you have?" The two asked eagerly.



Lu Zhi smiled and slowly activated her power [primordial gaia's blessing] under the influence of [ANCIENT INSIGHT], which granted her control over the natural world. She became a steward of nature, capable of commanding and influencing flora and fauna in profound ways, a power that was incredibly useful in the apocalypse.



Inside the living room, Lu Zhi manipulated and controlled plants, making them grow rapidly, moving them in mesmerizing patterns, and shaping them into different forms. Her white hair danced with every movement, and her sparkling silver eyes added to the enchanting scene, making her look like a fairy in a mystical forest.



Shen Lian was mesmerized, feeling the urge to cry tears of joy and hold her tightly in his arms. However, he restrained himself, knowing they were in front of her family.



After a while, Lu Zhi guided the plants to birth more flowers and handed them to everyone present.



"Woah!" Mother Lu and Grandma Shen were amazed as they received the beautiful flowers in their hands.



"Baby Sister, that's amazing! Do you think we can have powers too?" asked Lu Zao and Lu Zhula with hopeful eyes. They yearned to have powers to protect their sister when the apocalypse arrived, just as she had told them.

Lu Zhi smiled warmly, "Of course, there are few ordinary people in the end of the world. Many have awakened their powers. It's possible that you both have potential too." She didn't want to dash their hopes; she believed that each of her brothers had unique talents waiting to be unlocked. 'And Maybe some people have already awakened their powers now.'

"I just don't know where this energy comes from, but I started sensing it after I woke up from that dream, and it will gradually became more apparent until the night of the spring festival. Where some might awaken a power, while others who can't take the energy might become mindless zombies seeking flesh."
