Awkward

After My outburst I packed the cars in silence. chanyeol didn't seem to know what to say to me either so he stayed quiet as well. teh three cars were packed from the floor to ceiling with more blanket, clothes, water, snacks, medicine, first aid, and I put in a couple of toys since Rose said there were kids. As i put the last bag of books in chanyeol spoke finally.

Chanyeol: this should be good, let's get the empty bags we have left and go get the medicine and rations

I turned without saying anything and walked back inside

Chanyeol pov

I watched her walk away from me… i don't know what her problem was… if i would have told baekhyun or rose to close it they would have no questions asked so why did she freak out… why does she care its not like she knows me… and what did she mean by it was a lie… no one cares if I'm here or not… we walked in both distracted but from the corner of my eye I say the herd. I grabbed her arm and pulled her to me. Before she could say anything I covered her mouth and put her against a wall

He trapped me against the wall. I was ready to yell at him when he looked over the corner. He let me go and I turned my head to look. The herd was coming through again and it looked like we forgot the time… he looked at me and I turned to face him and we were inches apart. I looked at the ground. The last thing I want to do is be this close to him after my emotional outburst but I can't look at those dead. My cheeks got redder and redder.

Chanyeol pov

As I watched her I noticed that she wasn't comfortable with this. I looked around and there wasn't much space to move since it is a small corner. I did the next best thing. I sat down. y/n panicked and looked at me. I just looked out to the hoard. After a while the sun began showing through slowly and the hoard disappeared. I stood up and y/n looked at me

You pov

I watched as he stood up

Chanyeol: Baekhyun and Rose must be worried, let's hurry to avoid the hoard… don't forget there might be strays upstairs even if we took care of them

I have lived here longerand he is reminding me. he walked away cautious but slowly looking back at me for me to follow him. We got to the floor but I had to pull him back… he looked shocked… but I just pointed to a dead in the staircase… the dead seemed to have spotted us

Chanyeol: i got it stay back

I grabbed his arm and he looked at me… i walked closer to the dead

Chanyeol: y/n wait

But I kept walking… the dead man didn't seem to do anything… I put my hand on his head and he looked up at me… my heart was pounding… he smiled at me…

You: hey buddy

Your heart beat calmed down and that anxious feeling was gone. He would never leave me

You: I know i haven't come to visit in awhile but jinyoung blocked it off you know he was crazy. But he is gone now. He won't coming back

He seemed happy

You: you weren't where i left you either I thought you left me again

I pouted and he nuzzled into my hand...

Chanyeol: what is going on

He looked at chanyeol and growled. Chanyeol looked panicked serves him right

You: he's a friend. So both of you calm down

The dead man stopped and looked at the ground

You: you both didn't know any better so neither of you are at fault. Especially my little guardian angel here

He looked at you and you smiled

You: so that guy's name is chanyeol. I met him today. He is actually the one who killed Jinyoung the second time. It's thanks to him I am alive

He looked at chanyeol and nodded. Chanyeol looked surprised even more

Chanyeol: who is he

Chanyeol walked closer slowly, cautious that he was going to snap.

You: this is someone I knew

Chanyeol: he isn't attacking you and he is dead

You: I wanted to find a way to fix them so I kept crossing the wall… he was an experiment I conducted… I didn't bring him back but the more I worked on him the more he showed human emotions… he understands but can't respond. I also curved his diet so he eats the dead and not the living. He is my protector when I am on this side

The man smiled more mumbling nonsense

Chanyeol: that's not possible

You: it is i did it

Chanyeol: but how

You: I mixed a lot of drugs and electro shock along with psychological technique of pavlov

Chanyeol: so you made something in between alive and dead… could you do it again

You: what

Chanyeol: could you do this again

You: well I haven't tried

Chanyeol: but you could

You: i would have to try again. And i was able to complete it because I knew him before this it would be long hard and complicated

Chanyeol: but do you have faith

You: i do

Chanyeol: good let's get going

He groaned and looked angry I looked down at him again

You: I'm sure you have been lonely and scared without me… but i can't stay… I'm going somewhere good for me

?: mmm

He looked at me sad

You: I know I spent so long with you… but this is for the best… I will be back for you though.

Chanyeol cleared his throat

You: you got me through this and still are now who is my main man

?: mememm

You: that's right it's you

He smiled as you hugged him. Your heart hurting tear in your eyes. You never imagined that it would be you leaving him

You: we will need this place again some way or another so i will see you again it's a promise… but in the meantime I have a mission for you baby can you do that

He nodded his head and you looked up at him

You: it will be a lot of work… I want you to clear out the ER… since you are technically dead you can lead them out like I taught you to do in the kids zone...

He nodded his head...

You: if you get to it try doing the rest of the wings here are the keys to security remember you fine motor skills are not well so both hands to aim the key in and to turn. Don't let them see it cause they will are stupid and will attack you

I took the keys from chanyeol and put it in his pocket

You: stay safe and remember if you eat pull them away from sight don't do it in front of others…

He nodded and groaned like he was uninterested in my reminders. Cause i give it to him every time i see him

You: oh and don't do it until we leave and another thing if you find keys any type of keys bring them for me. That goes for on the bodies do it covertly I would hate to see you injured

He nodded again…

?: oha

I smiled sadly and he brought his hand up and rubbed off my tears

?: omhm

You: okay i will stop crying it's not forever right

You gave him one last hug as he walked away. Silently you stood there for a while

Chanyeol: that… was

You: no one needs to know…

Chanyeol: you knew him before

You: yes

You kept walking… When you made it back to the supply room, Rose and baekhyun were already awake. Rose ran to you hugging you

Baekhyun: told you they were together… she is always leading someone off into danger

Rose: where did you guys go we wanted to check but baekhyun didn't want to get caught by the dead that keeps passing us and messing with the knob

I looked at chanyeol but he seemed to understand that he really shouldn't tell them about him.

Chanyeol: y/n may have just saved all of us that's what

The other two just looked at me.

Baekhyun: what do you mean saved us. Did she kill the dead that was out there

Chanyeol: you will see… first start filling these bags with the medicine

We switched bags and had enough to grab even more medicine almost the whole entire room that was left out

Baekhyun: the car won't be able to hold all this

Chanyeol: not a problem… y/n and rose take these down and wait for us

Baekhyun: no way am I sending rose through the ER or ground floor with more supplies than they can carry and a cripple that seems to love danger

You: then you come instead of her and you can keep an eye on me yourself

He went quiet probably because I said something to him

Baekhyun: finally have something to say back

You: what can I say I got tired of your bullshit… you don't have to trust me but i gave you no reason to doubt me that I just want to help. You and your people. People I honestly don't have to give one shit about. Cause I can easily just stay here without me. Your people wouldn't know what to do with half this shit and then will see how many people die with your experimenting huh. You will be crawling back to me begging me for help and hey may i will maybe i won't he the fuck knows.

He didn't say anything

You: so which one of you is coming...because the way I see it coming with me is less dangerous than going back up with chanyeol… less of a chance to get caught. hmm

I grabbed another bag and began leaving.

Rose: we will be fine i will see you at the car alright

She grabbed bags and quickly followed after me

Chanyeol pov

On the way back up baekhyun couldn't close his mouth

Chanyeol: keep it open and a fly will jump in

Baekhyun: what did you do to her

Chanyeol: what do you mean

Baekhyun: last night she was quiet and shy she wouldn't even look me in the eye and now she is yelling and rude. She reminded me almost of rose

Chanyeol: she is done with your bullshit didn't you hear her

I started to chuckle

Baekhyun: that's not funny you had to have done something… you two even seemed awkward when you walked in

Chanyeol: how could you notice when you started yelling at her as soon as we walked in the room hmm

We got the rest of the bags and walked down stairs. It took longer than expected because the herd seemed to be off schedule. When we got to the ground floor I began walking to the door. Baekhyun whispered

Baekhyun: why are we going this way it will take longer to get around to the front

Chanyeol: we are not going to the front be quiet and follow me

We got outside and to the gate where the cars were parked… Rose and y/n had packed the medicine and were waiting while talking. Rose ran and hugged baekhyun

Rose: y/n is a genius just genius

She kissed his cheek

Your pov

I watched as baekhyun stood speechless

Baekhyun: what is this

Rose: drive three different cars to hold more supplies look at how stocked they are

Baekhyun: but how when

Rose: last night y/n left for bags and then this happened amazing right

Baekhyun: yeah… but where are the cars from

Rose: well the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is y/n's bosses the dead one so he won't mind and the Porsche Cayenne is y/n

He looked at me.

Baekhyun: you own that expensive car

You: it wasn't expensive since i had nothing to spend my money on. And what did you expect me to drive?

Baekhyun: not a porsche… which one do i get to drive

You: what ever one you want… you rose and chanyeol are the ones driving since i don't know where i am going

Rose: i want to drive yours i would have never got to drive a porsche before this

Baekhyun: I get the bosses then yes!!!

They finished packing the rest of the stuff

Baekhyun: so what now

You: I will open the gate and after you guys are done pulling out i will close it and then we can drive to your compound

Rose: who are you gonna ride with y/n

You: you of course unless someone has a problem with that

You looked at baekhyun but he was to busy gushing over the cars

Rose: we are gonna have so much fun on the ride back do you have CD we could listen to

She began to ramble one. I laughed and looked at chanyeol. He was staring back so I looked away...

You: Anyway we should get going...

I walked to the gate

You: baekhyun the engine is loud so don't step on the pedal until far enough away… rose last one out… chanyeol

I looked at him and away again

You: try and keep up

They jumped in their cars and started them… after that everything went according to plan. While I sat with Rose my heart pounded hard… it's been so long since I have been out and there is no turning back.

Rose: can you get out a CD I want to listen to music

I reach in my glove compartment box…

Rose: so what happened to you and chanyeol

You: what do you mean

You flipped through the CDs

Rose: your ignoring him

You: i am not

Rose: you are… don't tell me

You: what

I looked at her

Rose: you guys did it last night. At least tell me you used protection

You: we did not do it

Rose: was it in one of the cars. I have always wanted to do it in a sports car how was it

You: we didn't do anything. I would never do it with someone I just met

Rose:okay okay I am done teasing but you like him don't you

You: what no

Rose: When I first met him I thought he was cute too and it happens to every newbie. So I would understand if you do. He practically saved your life. OMG he saved your life you're meant to be. You and chanyeol and me and baekhyun it's perfect and we can go on dates on runs it would be perfect

You: i don't think baekhyun will ever let you out after this

Rose: but you would agree to going on a date with chanyeol

My eyes went wide

You: that's not what I meant

Rose: then what did you mean

You: I don't like chanyeol like that and Baekhyun doesn't like me at all. He hates me so we could never go on dates and probably be friends. I bet when we get to where ever we are going I will never have to talk to chanyeol again

She nodded her head tapping the steering wheel

Rose: good he has a horrible personality… he's cold and distant most people at the compound don't talk to him because they are scared of him nothing will change

You look at her

You: you were just talking him up a second ago

Rose: so you do like him

You put a CD in the player

You: no… so is any of what you are saying true

Rose: all of it is true first part and second.

You: so he is cute and every newbie wants him but he is bad for you cause he is distant and everyone else doesn't like him

Rose: not everyone, most people. And you look like your gonna be one of them. He won't mind that

The way she brushed it off kind of hurt you. How can people act like that? What are we in highschool. This is the end of the world.

You: so that is what he meant by no one relies on him

Rose: what

She looked at me

You: when we were getting the cars ready… I was attacked by a dead man and he saved me but he came under attack. He told me to leave him and shut the gate… but when i helped him he yelled at me and told me no one relies on him…

Rose: he is over dramatic I can see why your denying your feelings

You: i am not denying anything

Rose: Well before you make a choice not saying you're denying anything you should just know that the compound wouldn't be standing without him…

She sighed

You: he constantly puts himself in danger right

Rose: so others don't have to do it better if it's him getting hurt. He can't stand when others around him get hurt especially if he can't help them. It's a noble and frustrating trait don't you think

You: what if one of these times he doesn't comeback

I felt her put her arm on my shoulder

Rose: he thinks he is invincible… he needs someone to show him he isn't someone who can put up with his noble, cold, frustrating, caring self.

I looked at her and then out the window… she laughed

Rose: change the song i hate rock

I changed the CD and we just sang along to the music. Halfway to the compound her and baekhyun got into a race. I rolled down the window and the wind whipped around us. Rose let out a yell and smiled at me… when we were far enough ahead she stopped the car. Baekhyun pulled up next to us

Rose: we won

Baekhyun: no way you cheated

Rose: want to go again

Baekhyun: you bet

We laughed… I looked around. I couldn't see chanyeol's care for miles.

Baekhyun: damn he drives like a grandma. No traffic laws and yet he still drives with a stick up his ass.

You: we should wait for chanyeol right

Baekhyun: do we really have to

Rose: she is right baekhyun something could have happened to him.

We waited for like twenty minutes when he finally pulled up

Rose: you took forever

Chanyeol: I'm sorry I wasn't in the racing mood

Baekhyun: ouch bad mood

I looked at chanyeol and he frowned

You: let's take it easy guys and drive slower

Baekhyun: aw sticking up for him maybe we were wrong about you two

You: check your tank… we filled it up before we left

Rose looked at the cars

Rose: we are almost out

Baekhyun: the race was a gas killer

You: we should refill it now

Chanyeol: yeah

Rose began walking to her car and so did baekhyun

You: oh don't worry me and chanyeol got it

Rose: thanks sweety

You: i was being sarcastic

Rose: i know

I walked to chanyeol's car as he popped the trunk. I grabbed one of the gas cans

Chanyeol: it was smart to bring extra

You: no use in getting stuck in the middle of nowhere right

I began to fill up baekhyun's then made my way over to mine.

Rose: are you finished

You: let me close the cap

You began shutting it

You: I am done

Before you could even put the can back in chanyeol's car the two took off.

You: rose….

You yelled

You: yah you better get back here

But you just yelled for no reason as the cars faded into the distance
