While Nacht was sitting near the lake, a sudden mana surge happened around him. Confused, he took a guard against the intruder.
Undine had teleported inside the lake where Nacht was sitting at. Both were looking at each other as if sizing one other up. Undine looked like made of water, with the face, neck, and hands of a human.
But in Undine's eyes, Nacht was a true peculiarity. He was just around 11, but he had more mana than the Water Spirit's blessed heir, Lolopechka. He was truly a terrifying existence. The boy was wearing a face mask which added to his mysteriousness.
But the mana signature that came out of Nacht was purely positive. That was so because Nacht wasn't evil; he was just dumb enough to do evil without even realizing it. Nacht would casually call cereal a soup without any bad intentions towards the other person, and the other person will just die of cringe.
Well, the mana of Nacht wasn't evil, but it was too overbearing (How does this child have so much pure mana). She wanted to say something first, but Nacht broke the silence first.
"Is there anything you need, Water-Spirit Undine?" These words broke her out of reverie. And she asked Nacht.
"Who are you? And what are your intentions in coming into the Heart Kingdom?"
"I am defeater of pain and misery; you can call me Shadow" (Yes! masks indeed are cool, I've always wanted to say this line). A sane person of Earth would have coughed blood out of cringe on Nacht's statement.
But this was Black Clover world; even calling cheese a demonic food was considered words of wisdom here.
After his power-rangers introduction, Nacht looked directly into Undine's eyes, which took Undine aback.
Undine was confused inside. Never in her long life had she been so thoroughly confused by something. Naturally, she didn't understand what Nacht said, but he said it with such seriousness that Undine had to accept it. She didn't want to disrespect the person in front of her.
She just thought it was a riddle, but she couldn't just accept that a water spirit like her was terrible at riddles. She had an IQ of shellfish when it came to riddles, and she was too arrogant to admit it.
So she just played along with Nacht, pretending that she understood everything.
After a while of awkward silence where both of them didn't want to appear dumb, which was nerve-wracking for both Nacht and Undine, she spoke again, "I will give you permission to traverse the Heart Kingdom if you clear out the beasts in westside forests 100 miles from here."
Nacht nodded at her words, and without saying anything, Undine teleported from the lake. But she felt defeated inside, that human had said something that she didn't understand.
(And how could such a young human have so much pure mana that rivaled spirits. His overbearing, mysterious, and scary presence at such a young age) "Kyaaaa~ So cool"

"Hufff~ that went perfectly," Nacht mused as he got up to travel to westside forests.
{I am a devil, and even I died of cringe} Came Gimodelo's voice inside his mind.
Right now, Slotos was resting and recovering his energy, just like Gimodelo on his first transformation. Nacht can't just spam these Devil's power on everyone; the longer he uses his devil form, the longer the Devil's slumber will be.
At least when he was without a grimoire.
There was a huge Mana Beast overpopulation inside the Heart Kingdom that risked the civilian's safety. The Heart Kingdom didn't have any personnel to take care of the Mana Beast infestation. The Heart Kingdom couldn't ask their allies because all the Magic Knights of Clover Kingdom were busy with skirmishes with the Diamond Kingdom.
Right now, if this was the Cannon, these Beast would grow out, and the situation will worsen. And then, an Elite team would be sent from the Clover Kingdom to balance the case.
But with Nacht's presence, things will proceed differently.
Nacht arrived at the westside forests and immediately sensed an unnatural number of Mana Beast roaming inside, wrecking the vegetation and killing all the herbivores.
Heart Kingdom has to thin its numbers time-to-time to avoid this very situation. But right now, under the pressure of Spade Kingdom's oppression and their queen being a toddler, they can't leave the borders alone.
"Alright, Gimo, let's do this quickly," Nacht said, hiding his presence and looking at a huge pack of boar-type mana beasts, eating the flesh of deer they hunted.
Nacht used his devil form to split himself into three and attacked the pack. He used his swords to swiftly land some sneak attacks and cut down his first targets.
Seeing an attack, all the Mana Boars immediately attacked Nacht. Nacht used a new move he created in the last years of practice.
Shadow Briar Garden! Nacht's shadow came to life and began spreading itself on the ground in a circle. Then many briar like structures made of shadow sprouted from the ground entrapping all of the Mana Boars inside.
Nacht just nodded with his Shadow Clones and cut down the entrapped boars with him.
After killing all the Boars, Nacht then heard many roars of beasts in the forest. A crazy smile formed on his face, and he shouted.
"YES, THIS IS LIKE AN ARCADE TRAINING GROUND!!!"
With a burst, Nacht dashed in the direction from which the wails were coming. This was the time he truly let go of his powers.
There were many Beast for Nacht to practice on or to fight with. This was a feast for him created by Undine. He thanked her in his heart and continued his merciless slaughter of Beasts.
Undine, who was still confused by the encounter today, suddenly felt a shiver down her spine.
