As I mentioned in my reply to a someone else's review, I'd been reading this novel before it showed up here. Despite what this site says, I'm actually at chapter 89. I won't spoil anything, just saying this is a great novel. Love the story, characters, world building, etc....I find the translation great, except for one glaring issue. The chapters are full of all this 'they, they, their, their' crap!! What happened to 'he, she, his, her' !!
Overall it’s a pretty decent book, however there are a few things that made me drop the novel: 1. The chapters are just way too short, one chapter is roughly the same size as half a chapter on most novels I read, later I’ll explain why this is particularly bad. 2. The novel goes premium on chapter 14. 3. The pacing is just way too slow, I can appreciate a slow-paced novel when it’s executed right, this one doesn’t do a very good job. The setting (I’ll get more into that later on) set the pace of the story as a very fast paced quasi-action novel, it took him 20 chapters to even leave the initial room of his dungeon, fights and events that are supposed to happen quickly take multiple chapters to complete and those only happen after 20 chapters of non-stop talking. It wouldn’t be so bad if the chapters were long and multiple things happened in each chapter, but they are ludicrously short, like read the first few chapters and you’ll know exactly how short they are, coupled with the slow upload rate and you’ll feel very annoyed very quickly. 4. Boring characters, I’ve already spent way too long on this review so let me speed it up. Characters are static and boring, MC is always the virgin that gets flustered around women that’s also a really cool, calm, calculated leader. The FL is your typical clumsy, shy maid/(*insert any subservient role*). The old guy is the super devoted old butler. Apart from his interactions with the FL none of the characters change or develop. 5. The setting is confusing, the author never establishes the setting, the mc was just transported into the devil world and there are other dungeons out there is all the setting we get, the author never expands on that, up to chapter 45 we know virtually nothing about the outside world, the lack of information doesn’t make the readers curious about the world, it just confuses them whenever there’s a pov change and we’re supposed to figure out what’s going on. That’s about it for complaints, let me praise the novel for a little bit: 1. The writing is pretty good although the author tends to repeat him/herself a lot it’s not that bad. 2. I tried thinking of other positive things so say but I couldn’t think of anything to let’s leave it that. 3. (I wanted to have at least three bullet points so that it looks nicer) Overall the novel is pretty mid, a faster pace would marginally improve the novel, most of my criticisms stem from the snail pacing. Since it goes premium on chapter 14 midway through the prologue I would NOT recommend this novel to others, if the premise interests you read the free chapters and judge from there, using your stones/fast passes on these slow, brief chapters is nothing short of a waste. See what I did there? ;)
It was pretty interesting at the start, and I really liked the 2 main side characters. However, it started getting boring after a while due to the repetitive plot structures and somewhat bleak and dull atmosphere of the dungeon. The story lacked descriptions and thoughts, reminding me as if this was instead a diary of a character's actions in a video game. Most of the chapters after he got settled in the dungeon was literally that, stating actions and improvements. With the lost flair from the starting chapters which were prettt interesting into this filler like writing, I got bored and finally dropped it. If you do however give this a try, I suggest only reading on WebNovel after you read what the old translator had went to so u do not waste money as compared to every other novel on the site, it became premium very early at C14 when the newer ones all start at C40 for pay to read
Starts out good, but MC turns into a complete idiot. There shou** be a limit to how blarantly stupid the author can make the MC. Combined with poor translation quality and going premium at chapter 14 (greedy pigs of Webnovel strike again), I don’t reccomend this book. If you still end up reading it, you probably will get fed up by chapter 140 or so. tl;dr: the novel is bad
HAVENT READ IT AND I WONT CUS DAAAAAMN CHAPTER 14 AND UP?! SCREW OFF MAN! I really enjoyed this story it’s the only one that I actually finished, as of yet. I feel like the names are sometimes different and that lead to a bit of confusion on my part. I also think that some of the characters backstory should be expanded like kawains. The translation is really good though. I wish there was more setup to the ending big bad celestials. it was kind of a letdown.
Tldr: good book, try it, but I recommend you wait for updates after chapter 88 before waisting your points/stones/fast pass on a book that is receiving no new chapers at the moment. And here is a longer review. This book is really really really good. It was a book I was looking forward to seeing every week/everyday when it was translated of Quidan. Rant at the end of the review. If you are only a tiny bit interested in the premise of the small story that defines everything and the first few chapters I highly recommend you read this book. This is a brilliant story of adventures, self discovery as well as companionship. The team of characters you are introduced to in this story are really intriguing and endearing. Their is a balanced mix of goofiness and steady individuals which make for a real stable cast that bounce of one an other really well. Good humour helps keeping this glued too. At this point in the story we had a glimpse of the potential of the MC and his team and, we've been introduced the darkness that is sure to come hunting them down later in the story. This provides a sens of urgency to the MC and his crew to get stronger, while at the same time being such an overwhelmingly far danger that it does not suffocate the story. Speaking of the story, the pacing is really good. It got the good mix of slow moments, with the blood pumping rush of danger in some others. You don't get bored is what I'm saying. Also, it's a very different take to the isekai genre in my opinion. Where the guy usually get taken in a descent situation and can learn, here the MC is thrown directly into the deep end forcing him to evolve himself and rize up to the challenge. I really like this book. Give it a try. A realm shame it's pay walled so early in the story. I can't judge the translation quality up to this point (ch88), since I won't pay to read again something I already read for free, wich is why I will rate it 3. But for update frequency... oh boy, HERE COME THE RANT, I have yet to see an update to the chapter count for 3 weeks... And surprisingly it stopped just when it got the end of the free already translated chapters outside of Webnovel... I will GLADLY update this review if it gets better. Tldr : It's a good book try it. But wait for new chapters first, no point wasting your point on a story that won't see the end of the translation.
