Chapter Two : Skill Selection

Akio had just thought that he had died when he fell from the window and his body shattered into millions of pieces. He realized that after he was petrified by the green light that suddenly appeared. He was now in shock and wonder about the place he was currently seeing now.

The scenery that Akio was currently taking a look at was a dark and spacious area with a gloomy atmosphere along with it. From his eyes, Akio also sees that nothing seems to be inside it except for himself.

After realizing his current situation, Akio then thought, "Huh, where am I. Wait, why are my memories so hazy right after the last thing I remember when that weird light suddenly appeared. I remember...Oh yeah, I think I died right; after all, I did remember shattering into millions of pieces. Right after, Everyone turned into stone, so how could I possibly be alive, so is this the afterlife not as I was expecting."

"Where is this anyway? If this is the afterlife, where is everyone else? No way can I be all alone in here." And as I had just said those words out loud from my initial perspective, a holy and majestic voice suddenly appeared in my location, although I couldn't pinpoint where it was.

"So you are the chosen one for this world eh, gotta say your pretty talented to be this young from what I would have expected to be the smartest person in your world." Once I had heard that voice, Akio, surprisingly to the being who had said those words, indicated by the interested tone in the being's voice, remained calm by replying.

"Hey, so I did die back then right when I fell like a statue down the building, so can I ask. What now from the signs of a being like you meeting a person like me? This isn't technically the afterlife since I doubt I would be all alone, so are you a god or something about to reincarnate me to another world or something."

And as I said those words to the being or at least the direction I thought the voice was coming from, the being laughed while saying, "Hahaha, what a funny human you are to remain calm while being in front of a being like me, despite not having my physical form in front. Any ordinary soul would have already been deranged if they hear my voice; I guess that's one reason they picked you, huh. And moving on from that, yes, you are right."

"You are going to be reincarnated; however, not in the other world. And most definitely not like the stories you have read about reincarnation, the reason we chose you to reincarnate because among all the young and qualified person in your world. You are the first choice on it despite you not fully using your full potential, which is quite a disappointment, honestly."

"And despite your flaws, after our discussion, we decided you will be the one leading the new age in your world." When I heard the being's words, I questioned him with a skeptical tone in my voice. "So yeah, now I know you chose me to reincarnate, but why, I know it wouldn't be something like you wanting to have fun and just chose me as your source of entertainment, and as they say, everything has a price, and in exchange for my reincarnation you will make me do something aren't you."

And without warning the being's voice which originally sounded like a joker, became more serious as the being said "As expected quite smart aren't you lucky you aren't one of the troublesome ones among the people we chose to reincarnate before since..... Your soul might not survive if you were arrogant and thought that we were doing some charity."

"That's right according to what you said we beings/god in your terms have a mission for you in exchange for your reincarnate is for you to guide and lead humanity. As you may now know your world has suddenly been petrified leaving only a few species of living beings alive in your world, that event is something not artificially made by anyone as some people may speculate but is actually a natural phenomenon to various realities other than yours."

"That Green Light is called the Great Wiping and it was once used by us gods to wipe out overly evil realities, dead worlds, etc. But an event you had happened a few millennia, had happened and now the Great Wiping had become a menace towards many realities. So your mission is essential to rebuild back your world or make it better from what it was before since among realities your world was one of the worlds slowly going to the death of your world, so you could say in some respects that the Great Wiping could be a blessing."

"And another note nearly at the same time you will be reborn another event similar to that of the Great Wiping will occur that we had designed to help humanity recover easier and it's effects even already by default in many alternate worlds. And as a weeb, as you call it you are familiar with magic."

And when I heard that word from the being's word I suddenly became innately excited as I thought "(Wait what did he say, is it really magic... He did this is amazing I thought that this guy would probably just send me back there with nothing maybe some special skill or something but magic and everyone could get it.)" And as Akio thought of that while also thinking of various new ways he thought he could use magic the being then faked coughed seemingly being able to know what Akio was thinking and continued saying.

"So as I said earlier this new event we had designed is dubbed as the Great Awakening where select humans will be able to unlock their magic cores which essentially will grant you humans the ability to use and control magic which this world-first thought as a myth. However, although this will occur not every single magic system is the same so your previous experiences and know-how about magic will most likely gonna be useless so in our good graces we had decided to grant reincarnations like you 3 skills you will obtain once you reincarnate however we will not allow skills such as systems, insta-kill or any other over-powered skills as it would disrupt the world's power order."

"So Akio Okagawa the chosen one of this world what will you choose will you accept our deal or reject it."

Then after thinking and comprehending everything the god previously said to him Akio then said

"I choose...."
