The concept of magic

"How can you not know of magic? Everyone in the world, even a grandma and her-," Lilith paused her sentence, remembering that Kevin knew nothing of this world due to his unfortunate memory loss.

Releasing a sigh, she looked at Kevin as though he were a pitiful creature needing her aid to survive in the harsh world. Kevin being the victim of her stare, audibly cleared his throat snapping her back into reality.

"Sure, I can tell but in return, you have to accompany me to gather a specific fruit," Lilith proposed.

"What fruit?".

"It's called a zeal fruit. It's purple and releases a foul smell," Lilith said while squeezing her face as she recalls its smell.

Nodding in acceptance, they proceeded to the East gate, heading out of the village. During their walk, Kevin noticed everyone in the village he had seen so far had blue hair and blue pupils almost as if they were their race.

"Why does everyone apart from you have blue hair?" Kevin voiced out a question.

"They are a race commonly identified with blue hair and pupils. They all use the water element, they are called amf.....umm, I think it was rather Amplers. Yeah, that's their race name," Lilith shouts finally remembering the name.

Ignoring her grammatical errors, Kevin's mind strongly clung to the words 'water element' and 'race'. These words used by Lilith began to generate many questions in his mind but he decided to put them aside as they reached the East gate.

The village's gate was made of wood yet stood tall and firm in the ground. The guard beside the gate questioned them a bit, forcing them to reveal their destination. Weirdly enough, he was well acquainted with Lilith and allowed both of them to passage out of the village.

Outside the village was a road devoid of any snow, leading to a small forest. As they headed towards the forest, Lilith began to spill the beans explaining in detail.

"Apart from rank 1 magical beasts, every species, the beast can use magic. Mana is a type of energy found in the air around us, it is everywhere. Using the Mana veins located inside our bodies, we can absorb the Mana and successfully convert it into magic.

Now with magic, it is divided into....umm, let me see... one..... two," Lilith said as she began counting her fingers. In the beginning, Kevin was drawn into her explanations but soon stared at her, realizing the mental limits of the girl.

"Yeah, I remember there are seven elements. Fire, water, wind, Earth, lightning, dark, and light. Every person can utilize a single element, there has not been a single person who can wield more than one element," Lilith explained.

"So is it impossible to wield two?" Kevin asked. Due to his memory loss, he was surprisingly taking everything well. A normal person would have had a breakdown at the thought of such things.

"Hmm, I do not know? But black magic, the strongest and rarest type of magic is very odd. You can say those dark magic users are all unique, maybe one of them can use more than a single element," Lilith said while pointing at a purple-colored fruit.

Lilith and Kevin kept conversing while picking up the foul-smelling fruit. He was quite content knowing more about the current world he resided in.

"Now that I am thinking about it, why are you collecting these," Kevin said throwing a zeal fruit to Lilith.

"Tomorrow the village is celebrating a festival.... or so I was told,".

"Apparently? How do you not know?" Kevin questioned her intelligence.

"Why would I know? I am just an adventurer traveling between dimensions,".

"Dimensions?".

Facepalming herself, she had to constantly remind herself that Kevin was a newbie at literally everything.

"There are twenty-six dimensions that differ from one another in terms of races, gravity, technology, and population. Usually, instead of dimensions, one can identify them as planets but due to their distance and differences we refer to them as dimensions," Lilith explained.

As of this moment, the bag Lilith was carrying was full of Zeal fruits which were in some way going to be used for the festival. Kevin assumed, them using it as a ghost repellent due to its odor.

"Which dimension are you from them?" Kevin posed another question.

"It's a secret," she said with a wide smile revealing her white sparkling teeth. "And before for ask, we are on dimension xxv known as Edur,".

Since his next question was answered, it left him with no remaining questions lingering in his mind.

Finishing the task they both headed back to the village. Not much time passed since they left making Kevin wonder what to do with his time. The sun was still out, shining against the snow.

Coming back, Kevin could see many children and adults swinging various weapons doing what he assumed to be training. Kevin was so focused on asking Lilith questions, that he was oblivious to their odd training behavior.

'They do not look like their training for the fun of it, more like they are preparing for something,' Kevin inwardly concluded.

"Hey, Lilith! Come here and spectate my spectacular win! My future wife needs the best of the best," A young voice shouted to Lilith, gaining her attention.

Looking in their direction, a crowd of teenagers could be seen spectating a training match.

"Who is he?" Kevin whispered into Lilith's ear, referring to the same boy who called her out while dominating in a wooden sword match.

"His name is Gary. He is a top fighter in the village who fell head over heels with me

," Lilith responds with a light giggle.

Seeing them converse, Gary's mood dropped thinking Kevin was going to steal his future wife, Lilith from him.

"You!" Gary points at Kevin in the distance while easily countering his opponent's strikes with the wooden sword.

"Fight me!" Gary declares with a wide grin as everyone looks at Kevin wondering what is so special about him to earn Gary's attention.
