91 Chapter 85: Oath of Devotion

Speedrunning the middle floors, the Loki familia were quite impressed at their current vanguard.

"They're efficient and super powerful. Their healer can bulldoze through hordes of monsters with ease. While the others take care of smallfry." Riveria nodded with a raised brow.

"Honestly, I really want them to be in the familia." Finn was jealous of having such skillful adventurers.

Especially Airmid, she's a bulwark that can tank as much as Gareth.

And not can only she dish out a lot of damage with her massive sword that was glowing white, she can heal groups of people too.

A 5 meter magic circle can basically heal a whole familia if they stack against each other well enough.

Even Freya's Vana Mardoll; the golden witch. Can't match her prowess in healing.

"The lass is small and delicate-looking, but she sure packs a punch. Just like the rest of them." Gareth chuckled.

After all, Lars' group consisted mostly of teenage girls. Even the older ones like the members of the Astraea familia were pretty young.

They still have a lot of room to grow. Unlike the real old people, like Loki's executives.

"Booooring, why not make this interesting?" Tiona was getting twitchy.

Lars already gave the order and to them, he was their supreme commander. Airmid was to collect all of the excelia that she can.

Especially the interesting ones, namely the monster rexes.

"Tiona, Lars already told us that Airmid will be our frontliner." Tione glared at her. Even if she was her sister, she won't let her break formation.

"It's just to descend faster." Tiona whined and Lars looked at her with interest.

"Hold up, let her cook." Lars held back Tione and she sighed.

"Fine, I need my eyes on other people anyway." Tione glared at Argana who was eyeing Lars like a beast.

"Yatta! Let's do this then!" Tiona held her hand out and Lars gave the excitable amazon her weapons.

She then concentrated her mana onto them, making them glow a blood red.

"Ey!" Tiona gathered momentum by spinning them on her hands and she smashed the floor. Opening a hole in the dungeon walls.

"You can't just blow a hole in the dungeon." Riveria was speechless, just like a certain robot man.

"It seems that she can and is crazy enough to do so." Finn smiled wryly.

Her actions were just so out of pocket that they haven't thought of it before.

"Cowabunga then!" Lars shouted behind him and the vanguard jumped through the hole as they felt another tremor below them.

"She's going to keep doing it until we reach the 27th floor, aren't we?" Gareth laughed as prepared to jump as well.

"I guess this is faster." Ais nodded at them in awe, truly they were the experts in dungeon crawling, such efficiency.

"They really are a bad influence to Ais..." Riveria winced as she saw the amazement in her eyes.

Everyone started following and they quickly arrived at the water city of the dungeon.

Making their way to the Amphisbaena, Airmid started to check her equipment.

"Here, a little good luck charm." Lars tossed her a bottle with yellow liquid.

"Is this your so-called dash juice?" Airmid looked at it curiously.

"Yup, your stamina would decrease a lot less with that. Great for dungeon diving, and sex too." Lars shrugged and she sputtered.

"I-is that the reason you made these stamina potions?" Airmid glared at him weakly.

She has to admit, her prowess in it is quite... Lacking. Considering that Lars is a whole nother beast that regenerates.

"Nah, you don't need it. Besides, you can decreasse your fatigue with your magic." Lars shrugged.

"Huh... I haven't thought of that..." Airmid spaced out as she blushed heavily.

"Hello~ earth to Airmid. We're almost there at Amphisbaena's lair." Tiona puffed her cheeks at her.

"Tch, boasting in front of us. Come on then, let everyone know that you have lots of sex!" Tione was jealous as hell.

"We do." Lars nodded at the fact and Airmid blushed like a tomato.

"You! Stop announcing it to everyone!" Airmid bashed him with her shield.

"Oi, it's coming. Stop flirting and take this seriously you fuckers." Bete grumbled.

A large waterfall led to a sizeable lake and there was a two-headed dragon that appeared from underwater.

It was bigger than the goliath and it had a white and blue head with crystals jutting out of its heads.

"So that is my enemy? I guess it is time to level up." Airmid raised her shield as her armored foot cracked the ice beneath.

"Are you really letting a level 4 fight that? It's rated as level 6 by the guild due to the environment..." Riveria got worried.

"No problemo, Airmid can take care of herself. And if she can't beat it? That means she's in for a spanking." Lars shrugged.

Their quality of levels is next to none. All of their stats even broke through S.

And there has only been one instance of that, Alfia. Until he came into the mix that is.

Their containers for excelia grew larger and larger. Especially Airmid who has maxed out stats since she was level 1.

It's the reason she couldn't level up to 5 for some time now. If Tiona or Tione helps her, she won't be able to level up, lacking the high quality excelia needed.

Meanwhile, Lars and Alfia are too busy to make sure that she is safe. They have changed their policy in powerleveling for quite some time now.

After all, safety is the number one priority. Except for Lars, everything for him is fair game.

"Foul beast! I shall smite you!" Airmid began chanting as she raised her sword.

Preparing a supercharged spell. "Daybreak!" Man-sized fishes and wailord wannabes were appearing from the water, breaking through the ice.

And when they surfaced, their red, beady eyes saw the lights as hundreds of javelins fell like rain.

A barrage of artillery hit the whole arena and the battlefield shook due to the exploding spears of light.

The Amphisbaena roared in pain as chunks of its body got taken off of its large body.

"Amazing... Such strength." Lefiya was in awe at the healer's magic.

Airmid was a vanguard, she thought. But she could heal people and cast such strong wide area magic.

The ugly mug of envy and worthlessness loomed inside of her head. 'Urgh... Even though I have fairy ring, Airmid is still much better than me.'

The paladin's silver hair flowed in the wind as shockwaves exploded all over the place.

"What are you feeding them? How can she use such destructive magic?" Riveria looked at Lars with a raised brow.

"I let her sugondese." Lars nodded sagely and Riveria was curious.

"Sugondese?" She tilted her head. "Sugondese nuts, gottem." Lars was satisfied and Riveria glared at him.

"Let me hit you, just this once." Riveria rolled up her sleeve and Ais intervened.

"I wanna sugondese nuts too." She took it literally and Lars smiled wryly.

"Uhhh, maybe once you've had the talk?" Lars couldn't take her seriously.

Amphisbaena roared as it glared at Airmid hatefully.

It dived deep into the water and swam upwards at the waterfall behind it.

Using its large body, it then did a dive bomb at the lake below. Creating a tsunami of ice-cold water.

Lars' group went behind him and he raised his hand. The water stopped in front of him as if he was Neo.

"I could really use some shades right now." He thought that psychokinesis was cool.

"You could've done that for us too!?" Bete shouted as the Loki familia ran away from the tsunami.

"My name is Alf! Via Shilheim!" Riveria quickly chanted and her familia was protected by a magic shield.

"You can lick your balls dry anyways, dog-breath. Besides, only your supporters are in danger from that attack." Lars rolled his eyes.

Finn sighed as that was true. But being doused by ice-cold water is bad for morale.

Especially tons of them that was going to wash them away.

Airmid raised her shield as she blocked the tons of water that assaulted her.

The white head of the monster rex then spewed red mist from its maws, a cloud of it quickly forming around her.

"Your poison does not work on me!" Airmid swung her sword and the mist was blown away.

Experiencing the worst of Lars' powerleveling, she was immune to most poisons by now.

"Come! Dragon!" Airmid crouched and she charged at it with surprising speed.

"Wait, she's level 4 right? Why is her speed comparable to a level 5?" Ais was curious.

"That's because her stats are at that level." Tiona shrugged and Ais felt a bit frustrated.

Because she wasted her foundation to level up as quickly as possible back in the past.

Now, she could see the effects of maxing out your stats before leveling up.

'Weaknesses...' Airmid's purple eyes scanned the dragon as she tried to find its weakpoint.

Her brutal training has turned her into a fine warrior that seeks to end them as quick as she starts them.

For why do battle, when you intend to prolong it? If you could do that, then it isn't a battle in the first place.

True warriors fight to kill, not for sport. So she tried cleaving one of its heads as she jumped in mid-air.

"Hap!" With a swing, her greatsword whistled and the white aura that seemed to be holy light on her sword hit its thick neck.

The Amphisbaena tasted the bite of her sword and its thick scales shattered at the violent blow.

Thrashing around as a quarter of its neck got cleaved, it glared at her like she was its nemesis.

Airmid saw the build up of mana on the blue head and she immediately raised her shield.

Baptized with a deluge of blue flames, her silhouette disappeared under it.

The temperature around the battlefield started to rise. "That thing's fire is quite nasty. It isn't as concentrated as the Valgang dragons' but it burns longer." Ryuu winced.

"Don't worry, those are lukewarm for a Paladin, my paladin." Lars smirked.

"Ha!" Airmid broke through the blue flames and she released an overhead slash at the gap between its necks where it connects to the body.

A deep laceration formed on its body and blood flooded the waters as it bled.

With a roar, the Amphisbaena began to converge magic and the peanut gallery has never seen it do that before.

"It's concentrating its magic in its body?" Riveria was confused.

Hearing bone crunching sounds, the expedition team winced at the brutal noise as something emerged from its wound.

"Another head? This has never been documented before." Airmid frowned.

"Hoh? I guess that's the trump card?" Lars smirked.

It went on a rampage, all of its heads releasing breath attacks haphazardly.

Red mist covered the area and blue flames ignited it, turning it into a makeshift bomb that shook the entire floor.

The middle head then roared and it released white flames. Combining poison to its hotter fire.

Water sizzled and the heat inside of the floor began to skyrocket.

"Prepare your antidotes just in case! The air is poisonous right now!" Finn ordered immediately.

With a gasp, Airmid looked back at the team and she was worried about Haruhime.

Blocking two sources of flames, Airmid gritted her teeth as she was pinned down, unable to use her healing for the expedition team.

'What do I do?' Her shield started to glow due to the heat it was receiving and she was only offsetting it with her mana that was getting drained quickly.

"Airmid! I believe in you!" Lars shouted and she heard it through the baptism of fire she was under.

"Yes... I'm his knight, his paladin. If I can't beat this lizard, then I will fall in the future." Airmid gritted her teeth.

"I am the sword and shield of my lord. My purpose; to aid others, protect the weak, and punish those who threaten them. Show mercy to thine foes, but temper it with wisdom."

Airmid stabbed her sword to the ground as she raised her hand.

Golden light came from above and everyone who was poisoned suddenly felt themselves get cured.

A fortress of light also appeared in front of them, right behind Airmid.

The three-headed dragon tried to fire all of its breath attacks. Especially the red mist that also has anti-magic properties.

But its flames and poison was stopped by the fortress of holy light. The rampart holding true.

"Burn in holy fire, foul beast! Empyrean's judgement!" She picked up her sword once again and it burned with white flames.

She then swung it forwards and a torrent of absolving fire gushed out of it.

The Amphisbaena screamed in pain as the flames ate through its flesh without any problem.

And instead of black ash forming after dying, it disappeared in motes of light. Seemingly purified by divine flames.

Airmid was about to suffer mind down, her vision blurring. Tipping over, she was caught by Lars.

"Hmmm, I accept your devotion, Airmid. You're my paladin, don't ever forget it." Lars smiled as she lost consciousness.
