I Don't Know You Cared

"I had no idea you cared," said Imperial Guard Yunxi, as the crown prince looked at him.

"You had no idea"

"You've been with me for over eight years and you still don't know what I'm thinking."

As he walked away from Noble Lady Qin's palace, Crown Prince Yang Lei said

*Back to the palace

"Which of you poisoned the food?"

Noble lady Qin inquired.

Obviously, no one spoke because if any of them poisoned the food, they would not speak anyway.

"You won't talk right, Lu Min, take them to the prison where they'll be punished in five days."

Noble lady Qin said, and the guards advanced to seize them.

'Your highness, please spare our lives,' they bowed endlessly.

'Do something, girl, we can't just die like this,' Liu'er said to Meiruo.

"What can I do, I'm just a maid, what can I do now, but we can still try to break out of prison," Meiruo said.

"Can you break out?"

"We're talking about the imperial prison here," Liu'er said.

"What should I do?"

Meiruo shook his head.

Soon after, the guards appeared and were about to drag them out when the crown prince appeared and they all bowed.

While Noble Lady Qin stood and lightly bowed

"Leave them alone," Crown Prince Yang Lei said, and they were freed from the grip of the guards,they bowed, and left.

He motioned for noble lady Qin to sit and went to sit beside her.

"What's the problem, and why do you want to punish them?"

Yang Lei inquired, despite the fact that he already knew the reason.

"They served poisoned food to me," said Noble Lady Qin.

"What?"

"Did any one eat it?"

Yang Lei,the Crown Prince, and Noble Lady Qin nodded in disagreement.

"Nobody ate it"

"So you can let them go?"

Crown Prince Yang Lei inquired

"Your highness!"

Noble lady Qin remarked angrily.

"If I let them go, those servants will behave anyway."

Noble lady Qin stated

"That's correct, but couldn't you just give them a lighter punishment?"

Crown Prince Yang Lei inquired

"Your Highness, I can't, I almost died, you know."

Noble lady Qin exaggerated

She summoned the guards and ordered them to remove the maids.

"If you can't let them go, at least let me look into it; none of them are likely to try to poison you."

Crown Prince Yang Lei stated

"Where will they be while you investigate the matter?"

"Where will the maids stay?"

Noble Lady Qin inquired.

"Of course, they will continue to work,"

Said Crown Prince Yang Lei

"Work?!"

"Don't you think they'll flee if they're free like that, Your Highness?"

Noble Lady Qin inquired, irritated.

Why was he standing up for them when she was nearly killed by this group of people and he doesn't want her to punish them? She thought she was his favorite.

"They won't because I will keep a close eye on them, and if they try to flee, they will be considered the one who poisoned the food and will be beheaded immediately."

Crown prince Yang Lei spoke up, and Huamin, Liu'er shivered in fear.

Liu'er, in particular, believed that because she was no longer an assassin, she should not be beheaded.

She wasn't that stupid.

To poison her food knowing it would be tested

"All right, I'll give them three days to look into this."

Qin, the noble lady, stated

"What are you waiting for, you can go," said the crown prince.

They bowed and exited, with the crown prince turning to face noble lady Qin.

"I have a lot of work to do, so I'll leave now."

Crown prince Yang Lei said as he walked out, only to hear the noble consort Qin say.

"Are you going to have breakfast with me, or have you eaten?"

He shook his head as she screamed after him.

He didn't go there to have breakfast with her or anything; he simply wanted to save innocent lives.

"Go inform the manager of those maids to reduce their workload,"Crown Prince Yang Lei outside the palace referring to Liu'er and meiruo

"All right," replied Imperial guard Yunxi.

He summoned another guard he saw and gave me him the same order, after which the guard left to deliver the message.

"You're becoming more daring; you actually gave someone else your work."

The crown prince laughed, and Yunxi, the Imperial Guard, smiled.

"I dare not, I'm your bodyguard, and I can't leave your side."

"But I have a question that I'm not sure if I should ask," Imperial Guard Yunxi inquired.

The crown prince was a nice person to him, but he couldn't just talk.

Crown prince Yang Lei said "You may ask".

He was at ease with everyone around him, including his servants.

"Your Majesty, why did you assist them?"

Imperial Guard Yunxi, inquired.

The crown prince stooped on his tracks and looked in the direction of Yunxi

Who kept his head down because he couldn't figure out if the crown prince was annoyed by the question.

"I didn't help them, but I did help myself."

As he continued his steps, Crown Prince Yang Lei frantically stated as he only looked back because he was surprised by his question.

"May I ask how?"

Imperial Guard Yunxi, inquired as to what the crown prince meant by saying he was helping himself.

"The one who poisoned the food knowing that if his plan succeeds, no one will investigate the matter further

And will simply punish the maids for believing they were the ones who poisoned the food"

Crown Prince Yang Lei said before taking a brief break in his speech.

"Then he will be in a better position, but if his plan fails, the maids will still be punished, and he will try again." Crown Prince Yang Lei went on.

"How does that help you?"

Imperial Guard Yunxi, inquired.

He understands that it benefits the person who poisoned the food, but how does it benefit the crown prince?

"Well, whoever wanted to kill noble lady Qin must also be targeting me, so if she dies thrn he/she has an opportunity to kill me" Crown Prince Yang Lei explained.

"However, if I investigate the matter, I will have an advantage." Crown prince Yang Lei stated, and Yunxi nodded, understanding how it benefits the crown prince.

They walked back to the study.

"Where are you going, Wu meiruo?" Liu'er inquired.

They are on their way out of Noble Lady Qin's palace, and they have reached a part with separate roads,they separated.

Wu meiruo was walking to the right, while Liu'er was walking to the left. She noticed and called meiruo.

"Are you asking me?"

"I should be asking you where you're going," Meiruo said.

"Of course, I'm going to the room because today's drama has been exhausting."

Liu'er groaned.

She never intended to investigate the poison incident; instead, she planned to delegate all of the work to Meiruo.

Her job was only to dispel any suspicions that they were assassins.

"Room!?"

"Did you forget, we have extra work to do," Meiruo exclaimed, and Liu'er groaned.

'The prince was so wicked to add their work' Liu'er thought.

"All right, let's go." Liu'er diverted her steps and began to follow Meiruo to register their name tags.

When they received and were about to register the names, the man who registered the names, Mu Jin, asked, "How long did it take to serve a dish, you have..."

Mu Jin's speech was cut short when he was interrupted by a palace guard.

"His highness stated that the workload has returned to normal."

The guard said this and walked away, leaving Liu'er to sigh.

"You heard correctly, you may depart."

Mu Jin said as liu'er and meiruo returned to their room.

"It's great to have such a tool."

Liu'er was referring to the Crown Prince at the time.

He is a kind person, even to the maids around him, despite his wicked behavior at times.

He's still a nice guy who loves passionately.

"Yes!,I wonder how he'll feel when we later betray him," Meiruo sighed.

She didn't believe the crown prince deserved to be killed, but she had no choice; she couldn't waste the opportunity.

"Hmmh," Liu'er said as they entered their room and took a seat on the bed.

Liu'er awoke a few minutes later to find Meiruo staring into space.

'What's the matter with her, did she even sleep?'

Meiruo paused before speaking.

"What's the matter?"

Meiruo shook her head.

"Nothing, I'm just trying to figure out who tried to poison the noble lady's qin and why they had to blame us."Meiruo said.

The person knew they'd be the one delivering the food and had it all planned out for us.

"How am I supposed to know,anyway think deeply,I will talk a walk in the park"

Liu'er was about to leave when Meiruo said

"I'm going there" She stood up and followed meiruo.

She needed some fresh air.

"What do you think we should do when we leave the palace?"

Liu'er inquired, and meiruo turned to face her.

"Maybe..." Meiruo was about to say something but when Meiruo noticed someone acting suspiciously, she quickly walked forward, Liu'er following her every step.

She overheard

"Did the plan fail?"

A voice inquires, and another responds, "Yes,it did, it's not safe for here, let's go somewhere else."

"What are you doing?"
