Ryan sat up too, his eyes widening in shock as he stared at Liam who kept staring at his raised fingers, totally oblivious to the tension he had created.

"You - - you are - - you are engaged to Anastacia?" Lindsey stuttered and Liam nodded in agreement.

"It is just like a dream. I can't believe I have a ring on my finger." He giggled, feeling light-headed.

Lindsey placed a palm on her chest, trying to stable her racing heart as she trembled. Her breathing was coming out ruggedly and she could feel sweat draping her cloth. She shut her eyes, trying to breathe in as slowly and gently as she could but she couldn't stop the tears from streaming down her face.

Ryan, who had been watching Liam's display in shock, finally turned to look at Lindsey and his eyes widened when he saw her struggling to breathe. He jumped to his feet and rushed to her, his hands reaching out to pull her into an embrace.
