15 02 - The Hidden Ploy On Nie Li
(It seems a Silver rank Demon Spiritualists are usually between level 20s to 40s...) Fang Lin casually observed as he unabashedly stood in a corner of the classroom. The person that is Fang Lin's current object of studying is the 3-star Silver rank Demon Spiritualist, Shen Xiu of the 'Sacred Family'! And floating freely without a care on top of her head is a [Lv30] box.
Right! Fang Lin is currently standing in the place that started off the story that is 'Tales of Demons and Gods', the Fighter Class of the Holy Orchard Institute. Comparing all of the samples of every fighters and demon spiritualists he met in the City Lord's Mansion and making some calculations, it seems that that 1-Star advancement in any realm here is equivalent to 4 levels in the system, at least for those in the 'Heavenly Fate Plateau' realm. As for 'Heavenly Fate' realm and above... he still needs more samples to be sure.
The peak Black Gold Demon Spiritualist City Lord, Ye Zong, whom Fang Lin had met before leaving was found to be at [Lv79]. That really gave Fang Lin a happy surprise as Fang Lin himself is sitting at [Lv71]. If his calculations were correct, this means that according to the standard of this world, he's currently a peak 3-Star Black Gold rank Fighter!
While it's true that Fang Lin's level is lower even though they are in the same realm, but Fang Lin was confident that in a fight, he would definitely come out on top! It seems after getting the Phenex body, Fang Lin's Physical and Soul level gained a boost and are now actually 1 realm ahead of his actual level. In other words, even if a Legend Rank were to appear now, Fang Lin would definitely be able to fight toe to toe with them. Whether or not he could win though is another question altogether.
Ning'er on the other hand was even more ridiculous and definitely in the top rank in the whole of Glory City. With her incredible defense provided by 'Avalon' and her peak Legend Rank Soul Level, she's practically invincible! Unless of course if someone who is 'beyond' Legend Rank were to show up however, that should normally be impossible so Fang Lin doesn't need to worry about that.
As for Xiao Bai.... yeah the less said about her the better for Fang Lin's ego.... Seriously though, what the hell is up with fantasy worlds and their OP as shit little girls? Xing Tong, or rather Jasmine for one, freaking [Lv800] in the system... Ophis on the other hand is at [Lv900+]. Yeah, she's so strong the system can't even measure her level accurately. Shit! Did he make a mistake when making his character? Wouldn't he be unparalleled under heaven if he made his body model as a loli instead of his current one...?
(NO! BAD!) Fang Lin shouted desperately in his mind as he shook his head to get rid of the evil thoughts. Phew! That was close... almost tread on a dark... dark path there for a moment. Even though Fang Lin is acting in such a strange manner, no one in the room seems to be noticing his existence at all. WIth the difference in their realm, plus the system's effect of not leaking any energy out, there was no way a bunch of these [Lv0] to [Lv3] kids could notice. Even beings on higher realm than Fang Lin would be hard pressed to sense him should he really wish to hide. The Elf girl, Su Yan was a clear example of this.

Unlike everyone else in the room, Xiao Ning'er who was in the same realm as Fang Lin would of course be able to notice him. Plus the level indicator above his head clearly gave away his location. When she took a glance at him however, what she saw was Fang Lin making funny faces as he was going through his little 'internal struggle' about something. At such a sight, Ning'er couldn't hold back herself and giggled at his little antics. What the heck was he doing?
Some... no, most of the boys in class chose to ignore the lesson Shen Xiu was teaching in favor of admiring Ning'er and they swooned at the sight. Ning'er really surprised everyone this morning when she came in the class cheerfully while hugging an adorable kitten in her bosom. Even though it shouldn't have been that long since they last saw her, she seemed so much more mature than before.
From her casual demeanor to her gentle smiles and overall atmosphere, she seemed more like a kind and beautiful older sister rather than the 'Ice Goddess' they were so used to. The one that received the biggest surprise of all is definitely Ye Ziyun however, when Ning'er walked up to her and asked for a talk after class was done for the day. Without waiting for a reply as if not expecting Ye Ziyun to say no, Ning'er just walked back to her seat and sat down like all was well in the world.
What... just happened? Ning'er was actually willing to talk to her again? Even going as far taking the initiative at that. Ye Ziyun thought about the current Ning'er and compared it with the previous one in her memories, when they were still children (AN: u still r o.o). This is a good chance that Ning'er gave her though since she had always wanted to make up with Ning'er. Yes, she, Ye Ziyun will definitely not waste this chance! and anyone who tries to get in the way of this will be her personal enemy from now on! Then all of a sudden, Ziyun thought of Ning'er's sudden change and compared it with that of Fang Lin's. (They both drastically changed their behavior suddenly and at around the same time too... are they related somehow?) Thought Ye Ziyun before she promptly discarded the idea as simply a coincidence.

While ignoring the shit that came out of Shen Xiu's mouth as he kept looking around the class, Fang Lin finally noticed the strange behaviors of Nie Li. His body moving sluggishly while his eyes were cloudy as if he hasn't fully woken up yet and still in a day dream. Not too soon, his eyes gained more and more clarity. (Finally! About damn time...) excitedly thought Fang Lin. That's right! The real reason why Fang Lin is in this class, instead of the 'Genius Class' that he was supposed to be at, is to wait for this moment!
Before Nie Li could fully regain his body and mental faculty, Fang Lin moved without hesitation, of course all without anyone noticing. As soon as he reached the front of Nie Li, magical powers, courtesy of his Phenex bloodline, flushed towards his eyes and started glowing as he stared into Nie Li's own. At the same time, his right index finger went towards Nie Li's temple and made contact. After no more than a few breaths of time, Fang Lin removed his index finger, and his eyes no longer glowed.
(Mission accomplished!) thought Fang Lin, clearly excited. Then just as before, returned to the corner of the room he was in all still without anyone noticing... other than Ning'er and Xiao Bai of course. Soon after that, Nie Li finally gained full clarity and didn't noticed anything wrong. Well, other than him realizing his 'holy crap i went back in time' thing that is. (So far so good, this means he didn't notice anything wrong with the false memory I've implanted in him...) thought Fang Lin as he gave a devilish smirk.
Supreme existence Nie Li may have been in his past life, but what he is currently... is only a [Lv0] scrub! Right! Just like in the story Fang Lin had read, Nie Li is just a lazy kid who had barely cultivated. With their current difference in realm, added to the fact that Nie Li was still in his 'transition phase' as he was 'waking up', completely tore away any resistance he might have been able to put up.
During that brief contact he had with Nie Li, the auxiliary techniques he's developed just before coming to this world were used without any inhibitions. With a liberal use of the 'Hypnotism', and 'Mind Reading', Fang briefly went through many knowledge such as cultivation manual, inscription array techniques, alchemy and many... many more in addition to implanting false memories while he was at it.
Even though the knowledge was much more vast than Fang Lin had expected, his 'Perfect Memory' ability could easily take care of that even if he had only briefly combed through the memories. (With this, I should be able to have an easier time progressing on my 'main quests'... As for those false memories I've implanted into Nie Li, I could only wait and see what Nie Li does with them and react accordingly) thought Fang Lin.
After one last overview of his current progress and his next plans, Fang Lin bid Ning'er farewell through Xiao Bai and proceeded to leave and head towards the library. Along the way, Fang was checking his current available unit points and item points and grimaced.
