16 03 - How Do You Really Feel About Him?
What happened in the classroom after Fang Lin left was the same as in the original story. When Nie Li woke up, he scanned the people in the classroom and went on a trip through memory lane. When his eyes reached the Xiao Ning'er of this 'time' though, he came to a pause as 'this' Ning'er is way too different from what he remembered? Wasn't she the 'cold and anti-social' ice goddess? Why was she so different now? As he was never close to her in 'past life' however, he chalked it up as misremembering and most likely confusing her with someone else similar to her.
As Nie Li continued sweeping his gaze over the classroom, he finally laid his eyes on Ye Ziyun. Unlike in the original story where Nie Li remembered his past life and what they went through together though, this time he just got a confused look. Why... is it different this time? Wasn't she engaged to Shen Yue in his past life? Why is she now engaged to someone named 'Fang Lin' instead?
Fang Lin, that's another name that brought Nie Li great confusion... if his 'memories' didn't fail him, hadn't he also perished along with the Fang Clan in that massacre? Why is he still alive and kicking now? After looking through the 'memories' of his younger self from before his reincarnation though, he found out that unlike the previous timeline, Lord Ye Mo actually made it in time, albeit barely, and saved him from the clutches of death.
Just what is going on?! There are too many things different than in the memories of his past life! Can his memories even be used as reliable clutches he could depend on anymore? Since it's become like this, he'll just have to improvise on the go, and with his hundreds of years of experience, he should do just fine. Not to mention that Fang Lin's Golden soul realm is even a bigger surprise.
Even in all of his previous life experience, he's never seen nor heard of that soul realm color before... To be able to reach silver rank way before the age of 14, even with the lack of proper resources and cultivation techniques once again proved the might of his Golden soul realm. After so long since his strength was checked, who knows what realm he's actually at now... he truly is a monster. And with his past grudge against the Dark Guild... if this Fang Lin person is a trustworthy character then he'll help him as Fang Lin could definitely become a powerful ally later however if not...
Before Nie Li could do anymore contemplations, the annoying voice of Shen Xiu saying hurtful and disparaging comments against the commoners snapped him out of it. What happened next was as it should have happen like in the original. After some back and forth with Nie Lie defending the commoners, he made the bet with Shen Xiu with the loser dropping out of the institute and finally being made to stand at the back of the class. Of course his friends and future allies also joined in.

After the class was over, Ning'er right away made to leave for the designated spot she'd told Ye Ziyun before class starts earlier. Donning a very determined face as if she's about to face the greatest battle she's ever faced, Ye Ziyun psyched herself up and got ready to leave after Ning'er. That plan however was completely wrecked thanks to someone getting in the way. "Ziyun, how about we a take a look at this new restaurant that just open? I heard their dishes are very tasty."
With an irritated face, she turned towards the person that had just spoken. What greeted her was unsurprisingly the face of a smiling Shen Yue and full of ulterior motives that only an idiot wouldn't be able to see through it. "Classmate Shen Yue, I do not think that is very appropriate as I am already engaged. You should already know of this? Also, please do not address me with so much intimacy, we are not that close." Hearing this, Shen Yue was unphased and still continued talking.
This Shen Yue of the Sacred Family had continued to pester her for as long as she could remember. No one knows whether it was the order of his family or by his own will, but he's been trying every possible way to get close to her. The fact that she was engaged didn't even bother him and in fact made him try even harder. What a shameless person!
"Haha, I'm only asking another classmate to hangout together. There is nothing inappropriate about that is there, Ziyun?" replied Shen Yue completely ignoring Ye Ziyun's warning. "Besides, just what is so good about that Fang Lin person? So what if his soul realm color is a bit unique? Other than that he's nothing. Just a clanless orphan that's mooching off your family..." said Shen Yue with contempt.
Hearing Shen Yue's comment, Ye Ziyun turned speechless. How overbearing and arrogant! As expected of the Sacred Family. "Classmate Shen Yue, I ask you to not speak ill of another when the person in question isn't even here. Or is it that you do not have the guts to speak like that to him in his face?" asked Ziyun coldly. "As I have an appointment with someone, I bid you farewell. Also, please do not talk to me anymore from now on."
Hearing what Ye Ziyun had said, Shen Yue's face turned red from anger yet he didn't say anything more. He couldn't be too overbearing against her even if he wanted to since she is the current City Lord's daughter after all. Watching Ye Ziyun's retreating figure, he could only give a snort and also turned to leave. Hmph... act all arrogant as you want for now. Glory City will sooner or later fall into the hands of his family's. Let's see you act arrogant then, Ye Ziyun!
Relieved that she could finally leave, Ye Ziyun hurried out to the door but was interrupted yet again! "Miss Ye, please wait a moment!" This time by someone else judging by the voice. Perhaps it was due to the irritation she's been building up yet couldn't relieve her temper as Shen Yue was still part of a major family, she finally blew up. "What!?" Angrily shouted Ye Ziyun which was a little bit out of her character.
Nie Li who was on the receiving end of her fury was flabbergasted and felt like crying all of a sudden. What the hell did he do? Was it that time of the month for her...? Yikes! He better say what he wanted to say fast lest he risk angering her even further....
"Aah, apologies Miss Ye. My name Nie Li and I just wanted to ask you something... perhaps a little introduction to someone if it's not too much to ask." said Nie Li politely feeling like he's treading on thin ice. Staring at Nie Li for a bit, she answered as politely as she could at the moment. Why is it that everyone wanted to talk her today when she had something important to do!? Seriously! "What is it classmate Nie Li? Please make it brief as I have an important appointment to keep."
At that, Nie Li nodded in understanding. No wonder she looked so angry at that Shen Yue earlier... He better make it fast and get out of her way. "Ah.. as I understand it, you are the fiance of that rumored genius, Fang Lin correct? I was wondering if there was ever a chance, could you give us an introduction? I thank Miss Ye ahead of time."
He wants an introduction with Fang Lin...? Studying Nie Li for a bit, Ye Ziyun politely replied "I see... if that is all then there's no problem. When the chance comes up, I'll mention you to Fang Lin. If that is all, I need to go now. Good day classmate Nie Li." Without even waiting for his reply, Ye Ziyun just continued leaving out the door. If Ning'er had already left due to her being delayed... she swears she definitely won't let those two boys off lightly especially that Shen Yue! Major family or not, he's definitely gonna get it later...
Seeing Ye Ziyun acting like that, Nie Li just sighed as he scratched his head helplessly. Then without anything else, he turned to leave with his friends towards the training area. There's no time to lose as they only had 2 months worth of time until the bet afterall... At the same time, he couldn't help but feel excited about the chance he's given to start over again. He would definitely not waste this second chance that's he given! As they were leaving however, the the group of boys, Nie Li included, failed to notice a little kitten following them without a care in the world. Or maybe Nie Li did notice however, since it is only a little kitten, he didn't pay it any attention.

Back in the library, Fang Lin who had just gotten all the books he needed for 'homework' tonight, was about to leave and get his materials checked out. While the amount he's taking is normally not allowed however, since his identity is a little special, Fang Lin doubt that the librarian would obstruct his way. He was surprised however when he saw his 'fiance' and his waifu staring at each other, the atmosphere somewhat tense.
Uh... what's going on there? Well... let's just go and see. I can even take this chance to give both of them the cultivation manual they were meant to receive in the original, just a bit earlier. While he's not sure what effect it will have on Ning'er as she is now connected to the system, this should help Ye Ziyun out a lot.
"---cough--- Yun'er, Ning'er, what are you girls doing here? Here to find some books?" at his sudden intrusion, both girls were caught off guard. Ye Ziyun especially as she noticed the intimate way Fang Lin had referred to Xiao Ning'er. Before either girls could reply though, he continued speaking.
"Well this is a good opportunity. I found something nice for the both of you. Let's go over to that corner for some privacy." After saying so, Fang Lin went to said corner without waiting for their replies. Ning'er just followed wordlessly as was Ye Ziyun shortly after seeing Ning'er's action.
After sitting down, both girls on one side of the desk and Fang Lin on the other, Fang Lin didn't waste any time and just gave them the cultivation manual most suited for them. As he'd read the original work before, there was no need to check their soul form and attributes. "Well then Ning'er, memorise this...." After he was done, he did the same with Ye Ziyun.
After reciting the new cultivation manual a bit, Ye Ziyun was completely surprised at the effect and couldn't help but exclaimed "This! Something this precious, I couldn't possibly just take it like this without any compensation!" Hearing her words, Fang Lin just lightly chuckled and replied "It's fine Yun'er, you are my 'fiance' after all, my things are your things. Besides, there is no point in me keeping this since I wouldn't be able to use it anyways.
Hearing his words, Ye Ziyun couldn't help but blush a little. Ning'er on the other hand just watched their interactions without a word. What she's thinking is unknown to all but Ning'er herself.
"Well, now that I've given you what I wanted, it's time for me to head out" said Fang Lin as he got up and get ready to leave. Before he left though, he suddenly remembered something and smiled wickedly. "Ah Ning'er, could you do me a favor? Please buy as many of the 'Purple Haze Grass' as you possibly can, the more the better. As for the fund, you don't need to worry as in a week or so, I will be able to refund everything you've spent." Seeing Ning'er nodded in agreement, Fang Lin smiled and once again left after bidding goodbyes to both girls.
Not knowing what effects his short conversation with the girls had done to the atmosphere between them, Fang Lin left without a care. Now with just the two of them left, both girls just sat without uttering a single word, the atmosphere is tense and extremely awkward!
Taking the initiative, Ning'er sighed and said "Ziyun, I... spent a 'lot' of time thinking... and I want us to be friends... to be 'sisters' again." Hearing what Ning'er had said Ye Ziyun was overjoyed, but before she could reply, Ning'er cut her off and continued speaking.
"But before that, I wanted to ask you something. Your fiance, Fang Lin, how do you really feel about him?"
