Xiao Ji

They stalked towards a big house almost at the end of the street.

The others weren't stupid. They could tell at one glance that the house wasn't an abandoned one but it also looked off and was emitting a certain smell. It seemed more like a nest than a house.

After surviving the apocalypse for three months, they had gotten used to many things, one of them being the smell of blood or corpses.

And yet this smell coming from the house made them want to cover their noses for fear of puking from how disgusting it was.

Lilian Mo pulled out a knife from her space, reacting quickly.

Before the others could realize what was happening, they heard a loud thud from the right and turned towards that direction. They saw a red creature sticking to a wall from one corner of the house, its red claws buried on the cement, allowing it to remain its gravity-defying stance.

After that, they heard it roar at them, its red pupils dilating, narrowing at their group.

Probably because they have never seen this kind of humanoid-looking mutant that was red all over that even its own eyes were of the same color, so they were stunned. Furthermore, wasn't the mutant suppose to wait in the house and jump them?

Why was it suddenly showing its self to them?

The two-meters tall, strange-looking red-figure clinging onto the wall, facing them was a female with long black hair. It was extra tall and its muscles were slightly toned, its skin giving off a shiny luster that almost looked like a fictional armor.

Its arms were slim but its grip strength and arm strength were displayed in its simple act of staying at the wall, and its thighs were also toned with muscles that suited its feminine figure. Despite being female and looking harmless, everyone could tell that those limbs that looked no thicker than twigs possess great physical strength that could break bones.

Meanwhile, bolts of yellow lightning were sizzling across its blood-red body.

What the hell!

Except for Lilian Mo, everyone stared at the creature with shock, never having seen anyone like it before. Among the mutants they've encountered, it was the most humanoid one but was also the most dangerous looking.

It was emitting a vibe that made them want to retreat and run away.

No one dared to move as they process the fact that not only was this mutant physically strong but it also seemed that it possessed a lightning ability.

Lilian Mo was astonished.

How on earth was Sister Xi able to fight a half-mutant with the same lightning ability? Did she rely on her brute strength? But this half-mutant also seemed pretty tough in terms of physical strength.

Then, was it possible that Sister Xi possesses another ability? Lilian Mo's eyes went cold as she stilled in place, dozens of thoughts passing through her head. No wonder... No wonder...

That Sister Xi was too strong and could even go out of forests littered with mutant plants and bugs unscathed while alone.

With discontentment and alertness, the half-mutant roared again at their direction.

"Roar!"

Zhang Youji was stunned.

"Mom?" He said in a voice that was barely a whisper, looking at the figure with astonishment. His Mom changed... She did not have those sparks before!

By roaring, the half-mutant seemed to be warning them as it posed in a threatening way.

"Xiao Ji! Xiao Ji!" It howled as she jumped and landed on the road, standing fully, thirty meters away from them.

"Xiao Ji! Xiao Ji!" It repeated, howling like an animal. It brandished its sharp claws that grew and elongated, almost as long and thick as its arms. The half-mutant bared its teeth and fangs at them, its mouth stained with blood, telling them that it had just eaten.

The others now quickly came back to their senses as they wielded their weapons.

"This thing has a lightning ability!" Mizuki Rei pointed out, pulling his daggers out.

Both Mu Qianmo and Fu Yangzhu pulled out their guns while Lin Jiaojiao unsheathed the katana from the scabbard, looking stiffly at the blood-red half mutant.

"Xiao Ji. Xiao Ji." The half-mutant called, its eyes gazing at Zhang Youji. It didn't stop calling him which made the child stiffen and hesitant.

"Xiao Ji!" It howled again, not happy that its child did not come towards it.

It had forgotten that it was no longer human and that its physical appearance had changed. Most of its memories had also disappeared but it could still remember that the child belonged to it and was its flesh and blood. It had appeared because it smelled the group of strong people that were radiating with energy.

It had started drooling, wanting to covet that energy but stopped when it realized that it could sense a dangerous vibe from one of them.

It was wary and discovered that one of the humans was not its match.

It only felt that things had become dangerous and remembered that its child was still out with those people. If it fought those people, it would be able to kill a few but it was not confident that it could take on the strong individual who was brimming with energy.

It began to feel distressed when it saw how close its child was to those humans.

"Xiao Ji. Xiao Ji." It beckoned again. Its vocabulary was still limited because it was still at a low level but it had still retained a bit of its intelligence. Its child was important to it and it felt frustrated that its child was out of reach. It would only relax once its child had come over.

But these humans had already shown their weapons and were looking at it in a challenging manner.
