CARRION - Reborn From Flesh And Bones

It was dark , the air was mushy , the smell of rotten meat permeated the place. An air of mystical origin flow through the space.

??? found itself unable to move , see or even feel. It wasn't even sure if it was alive or not. Everything happened so fast that it doesn't even know what had happened.

The last thing he remembered was of his trip to the nearest convenience store. He was on his usual night walk and wanted something to drink. He remembered buying what he usually buys : a can of coke and some chips for the night.

He entered the store and was greeted by an unfamiliar face

"Good evening!" the girl greets, smiling brightly.

He often go to this store because it's the closest one to his apartment, and he knew almost everyone who works here, even if he barely talks to them.

'She's pretty' was what he immediately thought, as he nod at her and went to find his stuff to buy.

After he got a whole case of coke and some bags of chips he went to the check-out.

Now that he is standing right in front of her , his eyes just couldn't move away from her face. He was never interested in social interaction, always a loner in everything. He have been living like a shut-in for a long time now, so never would think he would be interested in any girl romantically.

"That'll be 12.85$ ,please. Will you pay in cash or..."

"I'll pay with cash. Here.."

"Okay.. here's your change. Have a nice evening!"

Jason was a little surprised that she didn't react to his face .Her smile was radiant and genuine, it made him want to talk to her more , but his introverted side couldn't muster up on the spot what to say. He himself has little confidence in his ability to have a conversation as he has much insecurity in both his looks and his personality.

"Mm...", that was the best he could do.

He doesn't usually go out at night, at least not this late at midnight , but today he felt like something was of inside his room, the air was stifling inside the dump that is his home. It just somehow feel uncomfortable, which is very strange for an introvert like him.

Unsure of where to go or what to do next now that he has gotten outside his house , he still doesn't want to go home yet as that feeling of uncomforting still lingers.

'Guess I'll just go to the park and waste time there.'

The park was about 10 minutes of walking distance from the store. Jason found a bench and tables where he could sit and enjoy the night air. It is kind of weird for him to go out at this time , but that uneasy feeling pushed him to ignore the thought so now he's here.

Placing his drinks and food down on the table , Jason pulled out something from his jacket - a Switch , to start playing some games, you can't not play game with drinks and chips next to you. This will be how he enjoy this rare outing trip , playing games, drinking soda and eating chips. The only difference from usual is the being outside part.

Occasionally, he would put down his game and soak himself into the atmosphere, enjoying the light ,cool wind blowing by, looking at the star-

"Oh right, you can't see any stars in a big city, I forgot about that. Damn light pollution."

Then he went back to gaming and drinking and eating...

After a few hours has passed, Jason checked his phone for the time, it is currently 2:30am. He finishes the game and save, cleaned up the trash and picked up what drink and food he hadn't eat.

"It's time to go home I guess."

Putting the trash in the bin , Jason suddenly had a thought

'Wait, how much money do I have left ?....Ah...I guess I'll have to ask the old man for some again'

Checking his wallet, he found out that all he had left was 100$ , which is only enough for a few more days with how much junk food he is buying, but after that...He immediately thought to ask his uncle again for more money. Jason has been unemployed for 5 years now ,counting ever since he dropped out of high school. The one who has been feeding him since was his uncle. Actually, his uncle has been taking care of him since the horrible accident that took away his parents and little sister, and left him with a horrible scar across his face.

The horrible accident that took away his family contain mysteries that he wasn't able to explain to others, they all thought he was just traumatized by their death and lost his mind. All but his uncle.

His uncle was there for him , he believed in him even when Jason himself didn't believe his own memories and take care of him. Jason was grateful for that, but he always feel bitter about his uncle because he couldn't return the favor. He kept failing in everything : getting bullied all the time at school, failing to find a job, and even almost went to jail for stealing from a supermarket ; because of that, he gave up, he even gave up trying to find the truth about the accident since a long time ago, because he knew that he wouldn't be able to find anything, because he was a failure. Now , he's cooped up in his room , playing games and wasting his life away while the empty space in him grew larger and larger.

After a few minutes of walking, he passes by the convenience store again. Peeking inside , he found that the cashier girl before was nowhere to be seen, and there's no one else behind the counter either.

'Maybe she went to the bathroom or something?'

Just before he started walking again, he heard some noises at the back side of the store. It sounded like people arguing about something. Intrigued, Jason slowly and silently stepped closer to listen

"Mike , I told you that we're over , so stop fucking harassing me all the time!"

"What do you mean 'we're over' ? I already told you that Emma and I are friends"

'Is she his girlfriend? Seems like they're breaking up though'

"Then what were you guys doing at that hotel ,huh? Were you doing *friends* stuff there too !?"

"How do you... Whatever, Grace, so you really want to break up with me ?"

"Yeah , I am ,so stop annoying me.."

Just as she started to walk away , the guy grabbed her and push her against the wall.

"*Guff* What are you doing you fucker !?"

"What do you think I'm doing? I'm gonna make you mine whether you like it or not !"

Fear flashes in her eyes as she struggles to escape from him. But she's too weak, the other guy was 190m-ish tall and he's built like a bear.

Jason started panicking about what to do, he frantically pulled out his phone to call for the police , but before he could answer , the guy started stripping her. She noticed Jason hiding at the corner of the store, eyes pleading for help.

In that moment, Jason wasn't thinking straight, he just acted on impulse, his fear was briefly pushed aside as he rushed in to save her. Never would he had thought that there would be a day when he risk his life to save a girl.

Before rushing in he grabbed a huge brick laying on the ground and jumped in.

"LET HER GO!!!" , screamed Jason at the top of his lung .

He flung the brick right at the guy's face knocking him down, Jason then grabbed the girl's arm and ran off. The girl ran with him , hand in hand, Jason's heart was racing like never before , adrenaline rushes to his brain , he doesn't know how long he should keep running, not even looking behind him.

"He's not dead from that right? I mean that brick was hu-"

Interrupting his thoughts, the girl suddenly screamed

"Watch out!"

Before he could react , a metal pipe hit his waist , sending him rolling down , the girl holding his hand also fell down. The other guy has stood up , blood dripping down his head ,dyeing his eyes red.

They frantically standing up to run again. The distance between them is only a short sprint , any amount of slowing down will let him catch up to them.

They arrived at a crossroads, not having the time to check, they sprint through the road. 

Unfortunately, fate was not on their side, and they were met with an oncoming truck. Jason must not have noticed the truck as he continue to cross the road, not until the light was right on his face did he realized he messed up.

Quickly, Jason moved his right hand which was holding the girl's hand forward , throwing her whole body in front , she was thrown out of the way of the truck , she was safe , only for a few scratches .But the same could not be said for him. The truck ran without braking and hit him full force.

At the moment of impact , the only thing he thought of was : 'Damn, where the hell did that truck come from'

His vision quickly blurred, his hearing dampened, and all his senses was quickly cut off as his body basically exploded into pieces

'So this is how it ends', he thought , ' At least I think she's safe...But I haven't found out what happened in that accident!!!'

His consciousness slowly fades and drown into the cosmos
