4 Chapter 5 - Summoning Magic

As Takashi headed to the student hall with Akane for the student introduction and briefing, self-doubt kept appearing within him.

Truthfully, he did not have any confidence in his magic abilities. Especially in terms of magic power and spells. Acquired growth of magic power through training was already hard enough for those with lesser magic power.

For him who was considered the bottom of bottom, Takashi kept thinking if relying on effort could make up for talent. Magic power has been mostly predetermined at birth and although it was possible to climb the ranks through effort, it was only possible for people who had more magic power than him---Takashi felt depressed at his thoughts as he tried to recall the faintest memories of his parents.

As an orphan, he had little to zero recollection of his childhood, with the only thing left behind being a note with his name on it. As Takashi was suffering an internal conflict within himself, he suddenly sensed an abnormal amount of magic from the center of the Academy. Somewhere in the Academy, large scale magic was pouring out---- this was..Summoning Magic phenomenon. Out of all the Magic abilities, perception magic was an area which Takashi excelled in and he and Akane ran towards the source of commotion.

Rushing to the location, it was an aesthetic and breathtaking English garden in the center of the Academy. The garden was overflowing with alluring flowers and trees but in the center of all that, the place was currently filled with light due to magic. A white Pavilion was erected in the center of the garden and resembled the culture of Rome.

Two students, 1 male and 1 female, who were wearing the Magika uniform, were currently chanting summoning magic. Although general magic spells produce either white or blue light, summoning magic will emit different colors based on the Spiritual Beasts which the person has contracted with.

Facing against them were two male students wearing the standard Academy attire like Takashi and they were glaring at their opponents.

"Ha! Two Commoners dare to stand in front of us Magikas! Get down on your knees and apologize for bumping into us or we will simply beat you into it!!" The male Magika declared. He looked to be around 17, a third year student, with a muscular and sturdy body, a towering height even above the average human, cropped hair and a scar across his face. The female magika beside him had white hair curled up into two buns at the side, with her looks giving off a princess aura.

"You guys were the ones who bumped into us and even pushed us to the floor!" The two Commoner students retorted. Takashi recognized them as second year students in the tier 5 class.

"Hmph, are all Commoners like you trash? Fine since you wont get on your knees, I will simply make you," the male Magika whispered and red light started enveloping his body while green light gathered around the female Magika.

The male chanted "The black knight that rules over darkness, desire lurking in the depths of emotions, give me thy strength! Mephisto!" A dark knight riding a ghostly armored horse appeared. The knight was holding a long scythe and vanished soon after it materialized.

"The serpent that rules both the ground and the water, the ruler of reptiles that defies the Heavens and Earth, provide me strength in this moment! Titanius!" The female Magika also chanted and a large green serpent appeared behind her momentarily before disappearing. Magic power drawn out from the Cosmos was surging and enveloping the garden.

The two commoner students also started to chant their own personal spells in retaliation.

"Ice barri..."

"Too slow!"

Compared to the normal magic spell of the commoner, the female Magika was even faster and swooped over. A blade coiled with two serpents appeared in her hand and at the same time, a voice that rippled through the air and the sharp sound of piercing ran out. "One kill---" The instant one of the commoner student was slashed, blue light scattered and he was blown away by a powerful impact into the pavilion. This blue light was normal magic that was used to protect the body from phenomenon that will bring harm to the user and negate it. This magic barrier was known as <Defensive Magic>

However, the impact of the sword had caused his defensive magic to be nearly used up and he collapsed on the ground flat.

"Will o wisps" The other commoner student quickly chanted seeing his friend get knocked down so easily. Three fire wheels the size of a basketball flew towards the male Magika but he simply stood there and grinned,

"You are also too slow!"

Although blue light scattered when the fire wheels smashed directly into the male magika, he seemed to be clearly unaffected by it and continued smiling.

Seeing this, the remaining student started to shiver and his legs trembled.

With a terrifying momentum, the male magika accelerated forward and threw out a punch filled with magic energy, "Near death fist"---

The blue magic which was activated in the presence of overwhelming danger was also blown away and the student flew and crashed into one of the pillars. Although <Defensive Magic> did negate the magic output of the opponent to a certain degree, that student should still have suffered some broken ribs.

"Look how weak these trashes are! HAHAHA" The male Magika started mocking the two collapsed students and although there were other commoner students around, they could only clench their fists and keep quiet as the difference in strength was clearly displayed to everyone.

"Stop this nonsense at once!" A loud cry was issued out.

Everyone turned their heads and standing there with her arms crossed was a young female.

What entered Takashi's vision was ---- a tall girl with a slim figure like a model. As if to add on, her figure simply sent a tease to the male heart. From behind, her long smooth black hair was blowing due to the wind and coupled with the scenery of the garden, it seemed as though she walked right out of the painting. She was also wearing a Magika uniform with the exception of a badge located above her breast pocket.

"Student president Iori..." The male Magika faltered and he stood there with his head down. The female Magika followed suit and also bowed her head.

Yes ---- This beautiful woman was the student president of the Academy, Yagumo Iori, a tier 1 class student of the Magika section and the strongest in the Academy at the moment. Even though she was the same age as Takashi, she became the student council president by defeating the previous president in a duel, as the Academy was ruled with the iron clad doctrine of strength.

"Why are you causing such a scene during the first years introduction?" President Iori harshly accused the two Magika students.

"Wait a minute! It was those two guys fault! I only wanted to show them the difference of summoning magic..." The male Magika tried to defend himself but was quickly cut off by the president, "I don't care who started it. You two will receive a warning letter for injuring other students in the Academy. If you want to fight, fight in the Cancer Grounds! Bring those two to the infirmary!" President Iori ordered to a few students behind her.

Revealing a frightened expression, both the Magikas lowered their head even more and quickly ran away from the scene.

---- Waiting until they left, Takashi's head turned swiftly towards the student council president.

"So this is the strongest magician in the Academy" Takashi muttered to himself and continued staring at her.

Akane, who was beside him, simply sighed before grabbing Takashi's hand and led him towards the entrance ceremony hall.
