Chapter three - Rachael's name waiting down

Rachael's P.O.V

I sat down, waiting for my name to be called. It had already been two hours, and I checked the time only to realize it was getting late. Just as I stood up to leave, I heard my name being called.

     "Rachael Ventasparo."

"Yes, Sir," I replied, quickly making my way to the office as the man called out my name. "Good day, sir," I greeted the man conducting the interview.

"Good day to you, Rachael. Please, have a seat," he said as I settled down.

"Congratulations, Miss Ventasparo. You've gotten the job," he announced, catching me off guard.

"Excuse me, Sir, how is that possible? I haven't had an interview," I asked, taken aback.

"Don't you feel happy about taking the P.A job?" he inquired

"I'm happy, Sir, but I'm just surprised. I wasn't given an interview, so how is this possible?" I queried once more.

"Look, Miss Ventasparo, the job is yours. You are the rightful owner of this position, so go for it," he assured me, to which I nodded.

"And you'll be provided with an apartment and a car. We will also arrange a pickup truck to transfer your belongings from your current residence to the new one," he added, leaving me even more surprised. I was truly at a loss for words.

"Thank you, Sir. I really appreciate this," I expressed my gratitude as I picked up my bag and left.

By the time I returned from the grocery store, it was already late. I entered the house, still deep in thoughts about my new job.

"Now what's eating you up?" Lisa asked. "in the morning it was my turn, and now it's yours."

"Mine is different. I wasn't fighting some rich kid," I replied.

"Whatever. So care to tell me what happened? Didn't you get the job?" she asked as I began putting the groceries on the kitchen counter in preparation for storage.

"Lisa," I called, turning to her with a sad expression. When she saw my face, she became sad too.

"Don't worry. It's going to be okay. You'll get a job somewhere else," she said trying to sympathize with me.

"I got the job," I said, my voice rising, which startled her until she joined me in shouting.

"Wow! That's wonderful. How could you pull my legs like that?" she said, slightly annoyed but smiling nonetheless.

"But why don't you look happy! You've always wanted a job," she pointed out.

"I know. It's just that this one seems eerie," I confided in her, and she looked like I was crazy.

"How so? Do they sell drugs or do illegal things?" she asked, making me roll my eyes.

"No, they don't," I replied, closing the freezer.

          "Then what?" she pressed.

"I just got hired without an interview. They just gave me the job without asking any questions," I explained in details.

"Don't get worked up. You and I know that you're perfect for the job. Just live a little." She encouraged me, and I nodded.

"So come, let's eat. I made dinner," she offered, and I smiled.

"Okay, let me go change," I said as she nodded.
