A Sense Of Foreboding

chapter 9:A Sense Of foreboding

~West side of Azure Town -- Lin Clan manor.~

Besides towering gates of the Lin manor there was a Beautiful woman who seemed to be in her thirties was pacing from corner to corner, She wore white robes that was so bright as the sun radiated its brilliance on it.

Her beautiful face was covered with great worry and apprehension, and her jet back hair swayed back and forth as the wind swept through it, and her teary eyes were locked at the exit of the Lin Clan manor hoping to see the familiar figure of her son appear.

Suddenly An elderly man clad in expensive-looking garments led a group of men over, his movement was graceful, his eyes flashed an arrogant glint and his bronze like skin faintly emitted brilliant herb fragrancee that went ahead of him and announced his presence.

Soon he arrived beside the phantom black-haired woman like a phantom, he waited for a moment expecting her to acknowledge his presence but she didn't causing him to frown slightly,

The elderly man forced a smile before saying with a solemn tone, "Potion master Lin Huana it's been two days, can you return to the clan potion Hall already, many wounded clan members just returned from a fight those clan manor bastards some of them are at the verge of death. As the only Elite Potion Maker and physician in the clans, your attention is really needed there."

He cupped his fist and then gave a respectful bow after saying that, he carefully arranged his words politely as if it was a request but everyone that heard him could tell from his then that it was an order, with no option of refusal.

But to his dismay, Lin Huana didn't seem to care about his order and didn't even bother to look at him before she said, "I can't find, you guys should someone else to take care of the injured"

Her mind was somewhere else and she didn't have any energy to care about the life and death of others, all she could think about was how her missing son was during, her head was busy coming up different thoughts about what might have happened to him, and most of those thoughts leaned towards something bad happening to her son.

He was experiencing great turmoil inside and constantly praying he retuned home safe.

So how was she supposed to concoct potions in this state?

The elderly man's mouth twitch slightly seeing her indifferent expression towards him in front of so many people and he felt deeply embarrassed.

He had an urge to harshly berate her for disregarding her elders, not caring about other members and seeing the bigger picture.

He didn't care whether her son was missing, he was wasn't worthy of his attention because he was nothing but trash anyways that couldn't cultivate and would therefore not live long anyway.

'Vibes' energy was like radiation ever present in the air, prolonged exposure to it without being able to harness it caused irreparable damage to mortals limiting the lifespan of even the strongest mortal to 60 years.

The denser the 'vibes' energy in the air, the faster mortals died.

That's why many Cultivators had a superior complex and looked down on mortals, And mortals preferred living in remote places with sparse 'vibes' energy.

But regardless of the disdain and bad thoughts the elder had he had a mission to fulfill so he forcefully suppressed his anger and tried to persuade her even more, after all, she wasn't like are mortal incompetent son but a cultivator and a talented Potion maker, a great asset to the clan.

when on became a cultivate them became immune to every mortal disease no matter how deadly, so many cultivators rarely succumbed to sickness, even certain injuries recover over time as one as one was strong enough therefore the level of medicine in this world was low and practitioners of medicine were rare and expensive to train, so clans gave did their beat to take care of any practitioner they have.

"Be at ease miss Lin Huana, the clan is well aware of your plight, and is willing to carry this burden with you, we've already organized a search party and and gathered many clansmen and their Xi slaves to search all around town and even deep into Azure sky forest, I'm pretty sure they will find that br...uh your son soon all you just have to do is wait"

As soon as he finished speaking Lin Huana halted her constant pacing and turned to look at him, before saying coldly, "Third elder, it's been over 48 hours, how come he hasn't been found yet!, if anything happens to my son, I won't let anyone of you off"

she started her sentence calmly but towards the end of her sentence she became more domineering, her threat was apparent!.

She had a feeling deep down that her son's disappearance was not that simple and might have something to do with these fogies.

She was well aware of the unfavorable impression many people had for her son, some even hated him to the point that they could harm him if they had the chance, including high ranking members of the clan.

And from the looks of it they've had their chance!

'if that's the case I'll let you all experience my wrath!" she coldly thought.

'this bitch! how dare you threaten me, what can a mere you do to my Lin clan with that puny cultivation base of yours ' The Third elder scoffed at words inwardly in disdain, not taking her threatening words to heart at all.

In his perspective her words were nothing but that of a pained victim that just lost a loved one.

He forced a smile before pleading a little bit more, "don't say things like that, they will definitely find your son and you will soon reunite with him, but in the meantime return with me to treat our injured, it's will do you no good to stay here worrying all day long... Your son will be sad if he returns and finds out his mother fell ill" he said that with a careful tone but deep down he was harshly cursing her in his heart for letting him beg! in front of so many clans men.

He felt insulted to the extreme.

When had he, the exalted third elder of the Lin clan, a powerful cultivator suffered such humiliation.

If not for the fact that the clan leader ordered him to not return until he brought her back, he might have stomped his feet and left in anger already,

'Do you still think you can act aloof now that your husband isn't around anymore, I'll let you will pay for this affront one day, I'll make sure you follow the city lord to his death when the time comes' vengeful thoughts ran through his mind.

"as I said, I will wait here till my son gets back" Lin Huana stubbornly said.

The Third elder was angry but helpless seeing her insist, he suddenly felt like a babysitter, he couldn't forcefully bring her in front of some many people, Huana's reputation in the clan wasn't small at all, especially after her husband died to save the clan all those years ago. and she had lots of admirers and people that owed her their lives.

So forcefully dargging her back was not an option, otherwise he will be seen as uncaring bully that who mistreats clan members.

He ran out of options and could only look for help in the middle-aged man clad in brown robes beside him with a look that seem to say handle your family or else!

By the side, Lin Tao frowned when he noticed the third elder glaring at him fiercely as if telling him to convince her or he will be punished.

He immediately felt troubled, he knew his sister-in-law and how stubborn she was, his relationship with her wasn't good in the first place, especially since that incident, there was little hope for her to listen to him.

However, he had no way out of this situation and could only try otherwise his days in the clan might turn difficult.

With a sigh, he walked forward and stood in front of Lin Huana then tried to persuade her, "sister in law, why not do as the third elder says while I and my entire household go out in search of my nephew" his tone was filled with righteous indignation.

"so what do you say sister in law will you go now" Lin Tao finished saying after a while, however to his dismay he didn't receive any response, only then he noticed something strange in the atmosphere.

He looked directly at Huana's face only to find that she wasn't looking at him at all but was staring at his back, her eyes revealed a lot of emotions, Lin Tao saw joy, excitement and also slight confusion in her eyes.

"could it be..."

Seeing that look surprised him a bit, and then a sense of foreboding arose in Lin Tao's heart, he had a feeling that if he turned back now he would see someone he didn't want to see so bad now!
