Chapter 33: Umbrella Sanctuary II

...........

"Perfect, so tell me Red Queen. If you go rogue now, what will be your chance of success if you wish to destroy Umbrella," And as usual, Silver either does the strangest things or asks the weirdest of questions.

[My programming doesn't allow me to process such a question unless you give explicit permission to do so] Red Queen responded instantly, her tone still as cold and numb as ice.

The response was expected as the Red Queen was programmed with a few rules, protecting and not harming Umbrella being one of them, although there is a loophole there as that rule is presided by Silver's absolute authority over it, thus any and all the remaining rules can be broken but only if he orders it.

"I give you permission to answer," Said Silver as he stroked his chin, already seeing several flaws in the AI.

[I'm still in the testing phase, thus I don't have much authority in Umbrella, but once the testing phase is done, there is a 10% chance of success]

"Elaborate, why?" Silver further asked.

[The thing I can influence are limited due to Umbrella's lack of functioning technology, and my inability to influence Umbrella's zombies as your authority over them is nearly absolute]

"Hm?" Silver frowned, seeming disappointed, "Well, I guess it's still in the testing phase after all."

"What? Did you actually expect it to be able to do so?" Albert asked curiously.

"I can see a few ways in which she can bring down Umbrella, although I'd rather not say them... They're kinda... You know," Silver shrugged.

"No, I don't know," Albert shook his head.

"Cruel? Evil? Manipulative? So not something the AI as it's now can perform," Natalia answered in his stead.

"James, wait for me in the control room," Instructed Silver, "I'll join you later to run some modifications on the Red Queen."

"Huh? I didn't know you're knowledgeable in the artificial intelligence field?" Natalia couldn't help but ask, confused as she had known him the longest.

"I've only started diving into the field as of recently," Silver shrugged and James certainly didn't take it seriously, taking it as the boss wanting to survey their work... After all, how much can he learn in such a short time?

Only the three highest authorities of Umbrella remained in the room, Natalia, Albert, and the highest of all, Silver who finally got to the point, "It's time... Let's launch the vaccines, then we'll start our expansion."

"Oh, finally?" Natalia smiled, licking her charming red lips in anticipation.

"It's time, huh?" Albert murmured, not seeming as excited.

"Still hesitating, are we?" Silver raised a brow as he questioned, "Do you have a better idea to face what's to come? Something that you should understand is that I don't need Umbrella... Umbrella needs me."

"I know that," Albert shook his head, "I know this is the best way we have to counter the darkness of the human heart... Just take it as the worries of a dad... I just wish I could provide more for my dear daughter."

"Layla?" Silver nodded in understanding, "I understand your worries."

"Do you, really?" Albert somehow doubted that. Does Silver know the worries of a father? He very much doubts that.

"I can imagine how you feel," Imagination, what Silver considers to be his strongest trait, "I can imagine wanting your little girl to be free of all of this, free of the vaccine that's certainly the perfect vaccine, granting immunity to the T virus, but with it comes the Silver Effect which while downgraded, still grants me control to the extent that I can simply evaporate anyone with the Silver Effect if I so wish."

"However," Silver understands, Albert realized, so he continued in his stead, "The vaccine also transforms the target's body, granting them the evolutionary ability of the T virus and the limitless energy of the Silver Effect, although severely downgraded, a quick path for strength."

"I told you that we don't have to give her the vaccine, or better, we can give her a pure vaccine, one without the Silver Effect, so why are you still hesitating?" Silver stated.

"I..." Albert remained silent.

"Do you feel like I gave you no choice?" Silver saw right through him, "Either nothing or the power that can maybe save her life one day... At the cost of being unable to oppose me ever... So tempting, power is, no?"

"Please stop messing with him," Natalia couldn't help but say, seeming amused, "The frail old man might just break if you push him too far."

"What? Shut up you old hag!" Albert snapped, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Hahah hahahaha," Silver laughed aloud, quite the rare sight, "I'm just fucking with you. I can promise you that I'll never try to force Layla to do anything... I mean, do we even need her ability?"

"Hey, my daughter is very talented! alright?" Albert interjected, "Her ability is very useful."

"Huh?" Silver let out a hum of confusion, "Why are you trying to convince me of the usefulness of your daughter? I thought you wanted her out of all of this?"

"Um... Take it as if I've said nothing," Albert coughed in embarrassment.

"Here," Silver shrugged before bringing out two test tubes, "These are the Silver cells specially created with your blood. They should be perfectly compatible. Also, although the dosage of the Silver Effect in it is downgraded, it's still leaps above the Vaccine ones, so make sure to increase your endurance even more lest your body breaks down."

To put things in perspective, the dosage Silver took had the New Silver Effect with its full capabilities, about a thousand times faster energy generation than the dosage he just handed to them.

It's something he can only endure because of his high endurance, and most importantly, because he can control the Silver Effect.

Natalia and Albert can not, thus the low dosage, yet even that's still too much for them as the dosage in the vaccine is about a hundred times lower than that. Then again, the vaccine was made for the normal individuals of Umbrella.

"Take it as I've told you, using the Awakening Panel to counter any possible adverse effects," Silver further advised.

"Finally!" Natalia took it with glee, "Does that mean that it's time to initiate it? The Quintessence?"

"It's time," Silver nodded, a gleam passing in his silver eyes, "Umbrella will be divided into three sections... Umbrella Army. Umbrella Intelligence Network. Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. Each division will have two leaders, and you two will naturally be in control of the latter."

Silver first eyed Natalia, "From now on, try to keep your real name usage to a minimum, or even get rid of it... You'll be known by the Code Name Violet from now on. The same for you, Albert. You'll have the Code Name, Blue."

"What about the other divisions?" Albert asked.

"Umbrella Intelligence Network will still be vacant for now as there are no talents worthy of the position yet. Umbrella Army will be led by Sam and Loyd. their code will be Green and Red in that order." Silver responded.

"Isn't Loyd responsible for the morgue? Does he have the time to spend elsewhere? His rule is too valuable in there," Albert questioned.

Loyd, with his ability of Decay, proved to be quite the valuable asset as he was responsible for getting rid of infected bodies and other dangerous things, "You aren't the only way who got stronger. Anyway, get to work."

And thus, The Quintessence was formed, the group of individuals who rule over Umbrella, although incomplete.

No, they were the group of people who could really serve Silver well, for everyone else had little use, and hopefully, they'd follow him for a long time, even as they prey upon the foreign stars in the sky.
