A Thanator

The Na'Vi called it Palulukan - a dry-mouthed fear-bearer, one of Pandora's fiercest predators, disemboweling its prey in a display of power and malice.

The creature was large, so large that no other creature was recorded as being able to hunt it, an apex predator.

The Na'Vi watched in terror as the Thanator moved from its position to where their Olo'eyktan stood, which at no time had taken its eyes off its rider.

<I see you, warrior> said Eytukan, current Olo'eyktan of the Omaticaya clan.

Aleyx responded with the same respect, then dismounted Fang, an act copied by the other seven warriors accompanying him.

<I am Aleyx, son of Sukai, Olo'eyktan the Subaiya clan, I stand here before Omaticaya clan on behalf my> Aleyx commented, gaining the attention of those assembled.

"Why is that tribe so hostile?" asked Jake, while he knew the Na'Vi were terrifying if you pushed them to attack you, he didn't understand why that tribe was so openly hostile against his people, knowing that the Omaticaya clan had at least welcomed him, and hadn't killed him yet.

Not long after the conversation between the two, Jake could see that the leader of the foreign group was able to come to an agreement with Eytukan, and then get on his mighty mount and leave the tribe with his companions.

On Aleyx's side, he was very happy, thanks to today's visit to the Omaticaya clan, he knew what timeline he was in, and although he had seen Jake in the crowd, he decided not to confront him, as it was not yet time.

Back to Jake, after the uninvited guests left, the discussion of Jake's fate returned to the table, ending in him being accepted into the tribe, and that Neytiri would teach him everything he needed to fit in, which she didn't take too kindly to.

That night, they all slept in hammocks in the higher levels of the tree, Jake had to do some acrobatics to get to his, which was right next to Neytiri's, who looked at him silently before touching the side of the hammock, which lit up with bioluminescence and curled up, enclosing herself in it like a shell.

Jake did the same and finally closed his eyes.

-Jake... Jake! Grace's voice faded from his ears in trembling echoes, then, he felt her gentle slaps that woke him until he began to cough. "Come back, boy. That's it."

"What...?" He breathed. A thin layer of sweat covered his face and his eyes were squinted and dazed.

His brain was very fuzzy, and the drastic change in surroundings didn't exactly help his bout of disorientation. Grace helped him up. 'Where am I again' Jake thought a little lost, the electric blue glow of the screens made him squint, but it was the surrounding faces, Grace, Max and Norm, that made it all click.

He was back at the base in the liaison room.

"Damn, you were stuck like a tick," laughed Grace. But on a more serious note, she had to ask that stung every scientist's mind. "Is the Avatar safe?"

"Oh, yes-" Jake mumbled with a laugh, his eyes wide and eager.

"... And you won't believe where I left him."

"The last thing we see is the marine's ass disappearing into the brush, with an angry thanator behind him!" Grace exclaimed, using her hands to gesticulate a galloping motion, other researchers, machine drivers and soldiers seated at the dining table laughed in amazement.

"You know, for reasons I can't fathom, the Omaticaya have chosen you," he turned to him in amazement, everyone laughed again, Jake was the only one who didn't. Instead, he turned away as he pinched the inside of his mouth. "God help us all."

"Besides, I met some members of the Subaiya clan."

The moment Jake said that, everyone in the cafeteria fell silent, even Dr. Grace, who was with a smirk on her face, changed it to a serious countenance.

"What's going on?" asked Jake as he noticed the change in the mood.

"Did you really meet members of the Subaiya clan? How? Where?" immediately, Jake was bombarded with several questions from Grace, who had a surprised look on her face.

After Jake explained the situation that occurred yesterday in the Omaticaya tribe, everyone gathered became static and deep in thought.

"So the Subaiya clan opens its borders once again" Grace thought aloud, snapping everyone out of their stupor.

"What's so interesting about that tribe? The only thing to mention is that when the son of the Olo'eyktan shows up, he rides a Thanator."

"You still haven't got it," Arthur commented, bringing Jake's attention back to him; "the Subaiya clan had their borders closed for over twenty years, attacking any Na'Vi or human that came near their territory."

"Well, that's what happens when you shoot their Olo'eyktan dead after they welcome you into their home" Grace commented angrily, still remembering how this event cut off any progress she had made with the tribe.

"Well, that doesn't matter, what matters now is to know the reason behind why the Subaiya tribe, which can be considered the most dangerous in the jungles of Pandora, has decided to communicate again with the other tribes after several years of isolation," said Norm.

The conversation was over, but still on everyone's lips, as it meant a lot to the Mine, especially now that the Subaiya tribe was opening their borders, as it was common knowledge that they killed every human they saw, and if the Subaiya tribe decided to expand their territory, it would create a confrontation against the RDA.
