Chapter 101- What a welcome.

This chapter is dedicated to perhaps my most important reader: @Great_maid_Oni.

That moment when you are sleeping, feeling the soft mattress under your back, only to wake up suddenly because you had the sensation of falling in the dream of a tall building, feeling the eternal fall while you see the clouds and the sky above, while you are lower and lower, just a few meters away from becoming a strange mash of human parts, I hated that feeling, the disconcerting, the fleeting dizziness, along with the dislocation and discomfort.

That's how I felt, as my head was spinning, as the strong sunlight streamed into my retinas and which was about to give me a headache, only for the dizziness, which I think I had thought was fleeting, to return, this time stronger, as images, flashbacks, memories, whatever was going through my mind that made me think college had finally driven me crazy, hammered my brain.

Aleyx? Since when did he call me Aleyx? My name is Mathius, Mathius Coleman, and I was sure that those... Beings, people, whatever, were my... Parents, friends, and my clan? Yes, no doubt I was crazy, very crazy indeed.

"Aleyx, is something wrong?" That voice I know, no, that voice is known to that owner of those images that just flashed through my head, "I think we should go back, you're acting very strange."

Following the trail of the voice, I turned my neck and I saw it, I saw... That thing, being, whatever it was, blue skin, with fainter stripes, bipedal, with a tail and a long braid behind its head, which was connected to a strange limb of what I assumed was a horse, I mean, except for the six, instead of the normal four legs that equines were supposed to have.

Oh my, suddenly, a thousand alarms went off in my mind, blue-skinned being with a long braid connected to an animal, four toes, from what I could see, and yes, I think I know what that guy is now, "Na'vi."

"Yeah, I'm a Na'Vi, look, I think you're weirder than usual, and that's a lot coming from you, we'd better get back to the clan, it's getting dark anyway." The boy, yes, judging by his youthful features he could guide me, kept chattering, but my mind was on something else, somewhere else, my body was gone, a glance and I could notice the bluish complexion of my skin, my extremely long and flexible arms, four fingers instead of five.

Hell, I was even riding a creature just like... My friend here!

The... Pa'li! Yes, as the strange creature was supposed to be called, horse-like, only it was much bigger than what an elephant from my world would be...

Wait... From my world, from my fucking world, this is not my world, and this is not my body, let's go back again, Na'vi, Pa'li, Eywa, Pandora, oh God, Avatar, I'm in Avatar! Could I be any more unlucky than I was? Being in Avatar's niche, where we only had bows, spears, and arrows, against spaceships, machine guns, and I don't know what else the humans were hiding. Yes, it was certainly not a good thing.

I looked up into the misty sky, and what looked like two moons returned my view from above, along with a gas giant, reminding me of where I was now. God, I know my job as a zoology professor wasn't the best, and getting my master's degree was leaving me poor, but... That was better than ending up here.

"Aleyx!" Oh God, right, the little man, what was his name, I try to remember, only to have memories come flooding in one after another in a barrage, "Luak!" I said his name, remembering him at last, Luak startled, I think I shouted his name, but whatever, the thought of at least having the memories of this... The boy comforted me.

"Well, there, it's over, that's very strange, let's go back, you're bad, the Tsahìk will know what to do", the Tsahìk? My mother? And suddenly my eyes widened, the Tsahìk was my mother, Meriya, meaning my father is Sukai, Olo'eyktan of the Subaiya clan, which meant I would be next.

Damn, this was getting more and more complicated.

All right, breathe, take a breath, take it easy, think, remember. Once I calmed down, I started to remember why I was here, in the middle of Pandora's jungle on a huge Pa'li with another clan boy.

Today the two of us are on a hunting trip to hunt some Yerik, a Pandoran animal equivalent to the deer of the earth, though blue with yellow stripes, which reproduce in large numbers, making them a staple food source for tribes like mine as well as predators. My, my, how quickly I was adapting to all this madness.

After remembering my whole life as Aleyx, or at least the most important thing, I see Luak who makes his mount approach me, looking worried face, "are you okay? What the heck is happening to you today?" says Luak as he looks at me as if I've grown another head.

"No... I know, we should go back, and go hunting another day, today I don't feel well" I answered him, the truth was that I had to think, think a lot, organize my memories, both those of this life and the previous one, and remember as much as I can about what I saw in the Avatar movies.

"Well, I find it perfect..." Luak was interrupted by a keeper roaring, which made us grab our weapons as fast as we could. The simple movement startled me, my body reacting as if it were muscle memory, with my hand immediately going to my spear which was on my back.

I was sure that in my past life I didn't have martial like Bruce Lee, so I guess this belonged to this new body.

But now was not the time for distractions, looking with extreme attention from where the roar was heard, I saw a black creature, resembling the extinct Inostrancevia, except that this thing was almost three meters tall, maybe about six meters long, and six legs.

I think I said that you couldn't be as unlucky as I was; it seems that only I could outdo myself. "Palulukan!" Luak said with obvious fear beside me, I turn to look at him, and he is scared, but still still pointing his spear at the Palulukan, for my part I try to see a way to escape the animal, we still had our mounts, although supremely scared, if we ran in the opposite direction, maybe we could escape.

We both had our eyes fixed on the animal, which was walking slowly around us. I knew this was a fight to the death, and on the Palulukan's part, it had no intention of backing down, so the fight was inevitable.

In my tribe, there were several with Palulukan as mounts, the famous Rizak warriors, consecrated warriors who had managed to go through the initiation ritual, get an Ikran and be born new, and after that, become Rizak warriors by being able to bond with a Palulukan.

There were at least seven of them, my father was one of them, and it is said that he almost died because of it, so in the tribe we were used to see them, but one thing was to see them under the control of their riders, and another very different was to have a wild one wanting to kill you.

I turned to look at Luak, and he looked at me with acceptance on his face, as if he knew he was going to die. This idiot, no, he is not going to die, neither of us will, "we will not die, I refuse to die just having come to this world" I said, finishing the last part in a low voice, then removing my lips from my mouth, exposing my long fangs and letting out a hiss of fury, gripping my spear tighter and ready to fight.

"When I throw my spear, we will turn and take flight, we are not anniversaries to a Palulukan, we haven't even completed initiation, so if we want to live, we will have to lose sight of him." I explained to Luak, who, though hesitant, nodded.

"All right, now!" With my shout, I hurled my spear at the Palulukan with as much force as I could muster, and without waiting to see if I had hit my target or not, I intuited my Pa'li to turn and start running.

The cool evening wind brushed against my cheeks, and the fluorescence of the surroundings, which were beautiful, now only rushed past my vision like glowing neon signs of Vegas, as I remained determined to employ the greatest distance between us and that killing machine.

I knew the Palulukan was following us, the heightened senses from having Tsaheylu with the Pa'li let me know, and I knew that sooner or later it would catch up with us. We were still far from the tribe, and any help we might receive, so I would have to come up with something to avoid being killed on my first day here. What a welcome.

"AAAAAAAH!" A loud shout brought me out of my musings, and looking to my right, Luak was no longer there, so I stopped my Pa'li so I could take a good, hard look back. The sight shocked me. The Paluluka, at some point, managed to reach him, bringing his Pa'li down on him.

Willing to do something, seeing how the creature approached him, and turned its back on me, I didn't think twice, and charged. My Pa'li advanced, even as I sensed his fear in approaching the predator, the two of us approached Luak and his now dead mount that was lying on top of him, holding him captive under the weight of the beast.

The Palulukan sensed our proximity, of course it would, but it was too late, the beast turned to me, and without thinking, I made my Pa'li stand on its two hind legs, and with the strength that its four legs could muster, the Pa'li whipped them against the head and snout of the Palulukan, making it let out a strange moan, similar to that of a cat.

Taking advantage of the brief instant, I got off my Pa'li and gave him a swat on the rear, urging him to run, due to the fear that he would meet the same fate as his friend. At the same time, Luak shouted my name, awkwardly pulling out his spear behind his back and throwing it at me.

"THWACK!" I shouted, pointing the spear at the head of the Palulukan, who had already recovered from the blow to the head, "THWACK I SAID!"

"NOW!" With each shout, the Palulukan seemed like it was just taunting me, because it raised its upper lips, showing its sharp teeth, an act I copied. It seemed like a good idea before, but now? Not so much, because the Palulukan seemed more determined to count me in pieces, and with a kick of his right foreleg, knock down the spear with which I was threatening him before.

To then leap up and lean against me, slamming me to the ground hard, as his jaw came closer and closer to my face. Seeing his big eyes, as black as a well, I tried again, this time looking into his eyes.

"OBEY!" I shouted with all my might, and suddenly, my sight changed. I no longer had the fearsome Palulukan in front of me, but I saw a tube-like conduit of lights make an appearance in my sight. Then, it stopped, forcing me to snap out of it.

The Palulukan, in an act that filled me with even more astonishment, got off of me, and, with the grace of an animal of his kind, he moved away from me. With the grace of an animal of his size, he flexed his limbs, leaning over me, while I stared at him with my mouth open, still on the ground.

What a welcome.
