"Let me go! Let me go!" Yue kicked and beat her fist against Aoife's back as she was borne upwards.
She didn't care that Aoife was jumping up the elevator shaft of one of the tallest buildings in Aviye, just that she was being kidnapped again and hated it. They arrived at the top of the shaft to find the elevator doors there open, and Yue was hastily thrown down into a chair across from the man who'd taken her from Khayin days ago.
"Good work," the Spider said. "Keep her still while I gather our defenses."
He had both hands on a shimmering black-blue plate of metal, whose etched lines shone with qi light that seemed to pool around the edges as it disappeared into the air.
It looked important, so Yue kicked the table, jostling it for a moment as the man was forced to press down harder.
