Lightning

Nurezhin,  The Kingdom of Aviye

Zai

The Second Lightning disappeared just as Zai saw a bomb strike behind her.

Zai was thrown back, and at first she thought she'd been buried again until she noticed the shadowed outline of Jha's shield above her, held above as she was cradled in the hand of his massive frame.

He'd discarded his weapon, and she could feel the strange motion of his frame as he stepped backward, away from the near-constant percussion of hundreds of bombs saturating the area.

It was so loud, she couldn't hear herself shout. Every exploding bomb shoved at her with the force of air fleeing the blasts. She fell to the ground as Jha's frame jerked, thinking a bomb might have directly struck him, but when she got up, what she saw was far worse.

The Second Lightning had ripped the armor from Jha's frame. She was holding him up by the chest. Jha's left arm dangled, broken, while he tried to ineffectually punch her with his right.
