2 Preparations

There is only one path for those who wish to overcome all odds and do the impossible, the path of knowledge. For knowledge brings endless possibilities, and one of those might be what one looks for.

Why? Because if something is impossible for the current being, that means that person has no power over it, and knowledge brings the means to achieve power.

William had understood this after being reborn, simply knowing the future had made him extremely rich and successful while others struggled hard to achieve what he had; From people who worked harder, to those smarter than him. He knew that if he wanted to, he could have taken over the world, but thankfully he had found such a thing too much of a bother.

Take over the world and then what? He already had whatever he could want...

Knowledge was the king of all. And the way to knowledge was research and study.

Which meant to touch something as great as magic, William had to research and study just as much. And to do that he needed some preparations and plans.

And thus he did not wait, the same day as the accident in the zoo he set out to buy a mansion. He could not do as he wished if he continued living with his parents. Ignoring their protests, he set out.

There were many mansions in London, but he did not want to buy just any mansion. He wanted one that had a big underground space, so his search took a few days, but he eventually found it.

It was a newly built mansion with the highest standards of the time, it looked quite pleasing to his eyes, and it had a large underground space for storage, he naturally had other ideas for it.

He bought it for millions of pounds, not caring about the price. Then he spent a few days to move his things and make it his house. The underground space that was empty was quickly changed into three parts, a science lab, a storage room, and the third room he left empty for the moment.

He finished choosing someone to run his company and factories, liquidated tens of millions of dollars worth of various stocks since he had plans for the money, and finally, moved to his new mansion for good.

The next day, he visited a shop and bought strange clothes and robes. And after much search, he found his way to the Leaky Cauldron the next day.

He was nervous and excited as he entered the pub, the first thing he noticed was that the air was quite different from anywhere he had been before. He could not really put his hand on it, but he could instantly tell something was strange about the place.

The people inside barely glanced at him, since he was wearing robes similar to theirs, they assumed he was a wizard.

He took a deep breath and calmed himself and confidently walked where the entrance to Diagon Alley was supposed to be based on his memory from the movies and books. If one acted like one belonged and was confident enough, one could basically go anywhere.

He was quite puzzled why the charms that were meant to keep muggles away didn't seem to work on him as his visit this time was an experiment, perhaps because he already knew it all about the magic world? Or perhaps because his soul belonged to another world?

He was not sure. It was something he had to study later. But it didn't matter, he brought his hand forward and tapped on a few bricks on the wall as he arrived in front of it. He could remember the combination. Ever since he had been reborn, his memory and mind had greatly improved compared to his past life. Especially memories of his past life, they were extremely clear and perfect. He reasoned it had to do with having an adult mind as a baby, his brain had developed beyond ordinary humans.

Surprisingly it worked.

'So no magic is needed for the activation of this type of enchantment?' He noted.

The wall opened, and he caught the first glimpse of Diagon Alley. He could describe it only with one word, magical. He forgot to breathe for a second as he was mesmerized by all the magical things going on.

He put away his thoughts and confidently walked ahead, glancing around but not overly so, he was giddy inside but calm outside.

Ignoring everything, he walked straight to Gringotts Wizarding Bank, it was very easy to find, he just had to walk around and saw it on the northern side of the alley. He stared at the goblins with fascination, but didn't show it as he walked to the one at the end.

"I am here to exchange pounds to Galleons." He said.

The goblin didn't look at him as he pointed to somewhere, "You will find what you wish for there."

William nodded and approached the goblin that the other one pointed at, he saw a man was exchanging money, from his clothes it was obvious he was a muggle.

He waited, and after the man left, approached the goblin and quickly exchanged his money. He got 1000 Galleons and a small bag with enough space inside for carrying the galleons. It was quite a simple procedure, but the exchange rate was bad enough to be called a scam, thankfully he had money to spare. The goblins had no interest in him at all, they only cared about money, which he was thankful for.

He left Gringotts and walked around searching for a potion shop, he found one and entered inside then purchased a few vials of Polyjuice Potion.

He then bought standard wizarding robes and an owl, naturally he asked if it could send and receive letters from a muggle to a wizard and when the shop owner nodded, he bought it. The Owl was pure white and seemed strangely intelligent as its orange eyes looked at him, he named it Otus. Next he headed to Olivanders shop.

He entered and looked around with interest before the old man showed up, he looked at him strangely as he asked, "How can I help you?"

He smiled as he said, "I am here to purchase a 12-inch squishy wand with dragon heartstring core, the wood must be aspen. It's a gift to a friend, also I need a holster as well..."

He wanted to study the wand since he knew even muggles would get something out of swishing it around. As for the specifications, he had chosen it based on the power of the wand, after all, the stronger the wand the more effects would happen if he waved it around to study.

Also, he needed it to pretend to be a wizard later...

He quickly bought the wand and left the shop, the old man creeped him out a little with his stare.

He left and headed to a bookshop and bought every magical book the shop had, he spent all that was left of his money there. Storing the book in the magical bag he had gotten from Gringotts, he left Diagon Alley the way he had entered, and an hour later found himself in his house.

He didn't sleep that night, arranging the books in the storage room and writing down everything that he had experienced to study later and find clues and information.

The next day he bought natural hair that some shops sold because some women preferred natural hair for their wigs, he dropped some strands on the Polyjuice potion and drank it. He almost threw up from the taste, it was awful, yet he endured to see what would happen.

His body felt warm as it began shaking and trembling, he watched in awe as his body restructured itself to look like a young blonde woman in her mid-twenties. He checked, and even his genitals had changed.

"Holy... Shit!" He said in utter amazement.

He smiled brightly as he looked at his reflection, "Now with this face, No one can recognize me and link it to me... Next stop is Knockturn Alley before I can begin my research. After all, where can I buy wizard corpses but there? But before that..." He turned and looked at the books in the storage room with desire.

"What is magic?" He muttered with wonder and approached the books...
