chapter 10: X Men

The city of Los Angeles is one of the most populated cities in the United States and one of the few cities that never sleeps. But strangely enough, for a city with a population of four million, there was not a single soul in sight. All one could see were abandoned cars and a silent city. And to figure out why Los Angeles ended this way, we will have to roll back the time thirty minutes prior to the present.

Flash back start .

In an almost empty bar in downtown Los Angeles, four people sat around a table drinking. Their eyes were glued to the TV while a newscaster going through footage of two individuals in high tech armor duking it out in the middle of a highway "The damage estimated by these two people has been calculated to be in the millions. Fortunately, there was no loss of life so far but even so. The armor wearing individuals' whereabouts so far are still unknown. Eyewitnesses had last seen them flying toward the sky, and they have never been found since then. We are here on channel sixty nine news urges our viewers to stay at home and keep safe in these tough times. Coming Up next, aliens. Are they real? Or are we the only sentient lifeforms in this wide galaxy? Please welcome our guest Doctor Erik Selvig, a renowned astrophysicist and author who was a Professor of Theoretical Astrophysics at Culver University an....." .

The newscaster kept on going, but the people sitting stopped paying attention to the TV. Some looked at their mugs while some just downed the whole thing in one go. if it was any normal person they would kept on watching the Tv but these people are Not normal per Say . They are Members of the X men one of the organization who defend humanity be it a mutant or a normal day to day civilians .

Now four members of that organization that sitting in this bar are , James "Logan" Howlett aka Wolverine , Scott Summers the Cyclops , Kurt Wagner the Nightcrawler , Anna Marie LeBeau better known as Rogue .

Now all of these heroes are sitting around drinking and chatting, until Kurt said " You know. The place where those two fought is not that far from here. I bet if we went there we would be able to find where did they head To and get ourselves into the morning newspaper headlines , imagen it. The X Men save the day again " .

Logan snorted and didn't reply while Scott Looked at Kurt and said " I think you drank enough " Scott took away Kurt's drink and in response Kurt grumply yelled : "Hey what the Hell dude !!? " afterward Scott said" profesor Xavier told us to take time off the hero Stuff and relax , so this incident is none of ours business " .

" oh c'mon, it'll be fun!" insisted Kurt

" No " flatly replied Scott .

They kept on going like this for a few minutes until Scott just handed Kurt his drink and told him to shut up.

Logan stared at the two for a moment, then moved his gaze toward Anna. Anna was still looking at her mug with a gloomy look on her face. Logan tapped her shoulder, pointed toward the door and beckoned her to follow him. Both of them stood outside while leaning on a wall, while Logan took out a cigar and a lighter.

Logan : " Are you okay? You didn't touch your drink since we got here . "

upon hearing Logan Question Anna released a long sigh and replied .

Anna " I just feel tired of needing to be careful everywhere I go. I can't interact with people without having to cover most of my body in fear of sending anyone i touch into an eternal coma . I feel more tired every day, and I don't know how long I can hold up being like this. God forbid if mother and You guys weren't around i'll be gone crazy from the loneliness . "

Logan face had a sad glent while listing to Anna talking , he moved his hand and patted her shoulder and said .

Logan : "Everything will be okay. I am sure as we speak Hank is trying to make something to help you with day to day interactions just believe in him . "

Anna: "I know i know . I guess I am feeling a bit under the weather today."

both of them stood in silence for few moments .

Anna: " thank you "

Logan: " don't mention it "

Logan kept on smoking while Anna Looking around aimlessly but then

[Rumble] [Rumble] [Rumble] [Rumble]

Anna: " an earthquake ? "

Logan : " No listen Closely "

[Baam] [Baam] [Baam] [Baam]

Logan: " Someone is fighting "

Anna:" how is that possible ? are they Omega level mutant ? is magneto fighting someone nearby"

Logan Shook his head and replied .

Logan: " if magneto was around Xavier would already told us , also these earthquakes sounds more like the aftershocks of punches a..... " .

before they could continue to speak any longer. The bar door swung widely and both Scott and Kurt walked out, while Kurt asked " what is happening. Is the world ending?

Anna: " No . Someone is fighting nearby and we have no idea who or what are they ."

Scott froze for a second, then started thinking deeply. After a few moments, he nodded and said

Scott : " before we go to find out who is making all of this Ruckus we will have to evacuate all the civilians in this area so they won't get caught in the Crossfire . "

everyone nodded in agreements and moved out helping anyone they could find in their way, Kurt teleported people out of danger situations, Logan and Scott got to people who are stuck and helped them out , Anna Soothed people who are to scared to move and helped them move to a safe spot .

they did all of that for thirty minute while the entire City vibrating and shaking from the so called earthquakes.

[Baam] [Baam] [Baam] [Baam] [Baam] [Baam] [Baam] [Baam]

And then came the deafening silence. For around five minutes nothing happened no vibration no shaking it all came back to normal , it was like there was never a near doomsday end just happening just a few minutes ago . People started peeking outside and looking around, not knowing if the earthquakes had ended.

Kurt: " Hey Guys Look the earthquakes has ended i guess we done here for today hu....." .

before Kurt could even end his sentence an Ear-shattering came unexpectedly , making everyone uncontrollably cover their ears .

[BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM]

the Loud Boom kept going for an entire minute before it subdued and people could stop covering their ears . Scott looked back at Kurt and said .

Scott" You just had to open your big mouth and jinx it huh ?"

Kurt scratched the back of his head and started whistling while walking around But then they heard a desperate scream coming from nearby and a women saying " MY BABY" .

the group looked to the direction the scream came from just to see a boy not older than four crying and scared while dozen of steel beams falling down where he standing .

Logan: " KURT !! "

Kurt: " On it "

Kurt teleported Grabbed the kid then teleported and grabbed the Mother next then took them both to safety .

the steel beams smashed into the ground breaking concrete and left a huge amount of dust hanging in the air . after the cloud of dust stilted down people could see both mother and kid far away from and safe . the mother is crying while saying " t..t. thank you for saving us " . Kurt smiled and replied " Glad to see you safe Ma'am " than after checking on them again teleporting where the rest of the group stood .

Kurt : " Damn . when you guys told me we going out to relax and drink i didn't imagens the night would start with earthquakes and saving people " .

Anna and Scott Shrugged but when they looked at logan they saw him looking toward a tall building while not moving .

Scott: "Logan what are you looking at ? "

Logan: " I think i found out where is they fighting . they on the top of that building " Said Logan while pointing toward the building .

Logan:" Kurt. take us to the top "

Anna: " shouldn't we informe the professor ? we might need backup"

Logan: " already talked to him while we evacuated the civilians"

Kurt : " Cool Let's go then. everyone grab into me we have a headline to make "

the group grabbed Kurt and then .

Poof they teleported .
