Claire wanted clarification: "Alex, is it true?" Alex replied, "Yes, but the principal called me to help someone. You can ask the principal for details." Claire sighed in relief, acknowledging that helping others is a good thing. But before she could finish her thought, Haley interrupted, curious about the person Alex was helping. She described him as having a cute face, sparking Haley's interest.

Alex, thinking privately, couldn't disclose certain information to her mom about a $1000 payment. So, she vaguely responded, "That's the person the principal asked me to help." Haley, teasingly, thought Alex might have a boyfriend, teasing her about not having one herself at 15. Alex felt displeased by the comments. Claire, sensing tension, asked Phil if she had something to say, but he reassured her there was nothing to worry about, echoing Alex's statement. Claire redirected her attention to Haley, chastising her for her insensitive remarks and demanding an apology.

Inside Alex's room, she mulled over Haley's comments and her own feelings of betrayal. She contemplated a plan for revenge and financial gain. Haley entered, apologizing for her behavior. Alex accepted the apology but wasn't fully satisfied. She handed Haley $500, explaining it was from the person Alex was helping. Haley misunderstood, thinking it was payment for something else. Alex clarified the situation, revealing the opportunity for Haley to earn $1000 per hour by pretending to be someone's girlfriend. Haley agreed, negotiating an additional fee for kissing. Alex agreed, and they planned for the next day.

After Haley left, Alex realized she needed to inform the person she was helping about Haley's involvement. Remembering the principal's acquaintance with the person, Alex obtained their contact information. She then called the principal to ask for the person's number, which was promptly provided.

Meanwhile, in her laboratory, Ava worked on her research, including developing the Extremis serum and studying human abilities. She interacted with Katie, her assistant AI, discussing progress and plans for further experiments. Ava decided to order materials for creating a quantum chip to enhance computing power.

It's been a month since I tasked Katie with creating a human body simulator for experiments; I don't want to use humans for testing the extremis serum. "Miss, Alex Dunphy is calling you," Katie informs me. "Why is she calling me? Did Haley reject my offer? Is it because I offered less?"

"I don't think so, miss,"

Katie responds.

"Well, that's reassuring."

"Katie, pick up the call and transfer it to my earphones."
