Altered Mind (MHA)

If we understood the power of our thoughts, we would guard them more closely. If we understood the power of our words, we would prefer silence. In a world where that statement rings truer than ever. What would you do, if you had the power to control people? Would you try to be a hero? A villain? Perhaps you would choose neither and live your life like normal... but the temptation will be always there. -------------------------------------------------------------

Over the last 3 years or so, I had managed to improve my quirk, as well as my physique.

Some of the things I did included morning runs and lifting weights, in an attempt to build up stamina and strength.

It wasn't a massive improvement from before I started doing it the year before, but it was an improvement nonetheless.

I mostly focused on martial arts, and making sure my flexibility and speed were up to par.

I had a feeling, I would have to do a lot of dodging in the future, and what better way to do so, than to learn martial arts.

My sensei was surprised by my speed of improvement and praised me as a martial arts genius.

I quickly managed to learn, Taekwondo, karate, Judo and kickboxing in no time at all.

I also learned Krav Maga , which could prove especially useful in street fights.

Throughout it all, I always retained a feeling of famaliarty.

I wouldn't call it muscle memory, since I was in a different body and all.

But, more like how one could learn a language, forget it, due to lack of practice, but have an easier time learning it the second time around.

I had every intention of getting into the hero course at the U.A school for heroes, and despite my quirk, I was going to do everything within my capabilities to give myself an advantage.

My quirk was practically useless, against robots, so I had to figure out a way to pass without using my quirk, or any kind of weapon really.

I couldn't exactly karate chop a hunk of metal.

I didn't have much longer until the entrance exams for U.A rolled around, only about ten months or so, but I felt I was prepared for it.

First however, I had a day of school to get through, which was always a headache.

I walked into class, and got the usual glares from all my classmates.

Izuku was the only one in the class, heck, probably the only one in the whole school who didn't treat me with caution.

I scoffed at them, and headed to my desk to catch a snooze. Most, teachers didn't bother me anyways.

And, if I were to be honest, by how much exhaustion I was feeling, I was seriously considering stealing a sleeping quirk.

My thoughts drifted to over how much my quirk improved over the years.

I felt that at least for now, I had reached my quirk's limit.

I had managed to increase the number of people, I could control from 1 to about 10 at a time, granted they all responded to my question.

The strength of my hold had almost doubled, meaning that weak willed people had no chance of breaking out of my control, without outside help.

And, it would take a sufficiently strong hit to wake them up. Previously a simple nudge would have been enough, now though?

You'd probably have to knock them out, to pull them out of it. A hit strong enough to rattle their brain.

The length of my control still varied though, since it depended on the person more than it did my own quirk.

Some people were just heavy sleepers, while others were light, and the amount of time varied from a few minutes to even an hour.

The types of commands I could issue though saw a huge improvement, where previously I have had to keep my commands simple and short.

Now, I could give more complex commands.

For example, If I told someone to go to a restaurant and buy a meal, the command was simple enough to follow, and they'd easily do it.

But, if I asked them to cook it?

They would merely put the ingredients in the pot, and turn on the stove, without preparing the ingredients.

The most exciting development though was related to my new special move.

It was called, lullaby; just by talking to my opponents they start to get disoriented or even confused for a short time.

I named it lullaby because, it alluded to the sleep-related themes, my quirk seemed to follow.

Those affected by my voice start to become more sluggish and clumsy.

They slowly enter a dazed state, which allows them to lose focus or even fall into a trance.

It only works if you're unaware though, or if you're distracted enough.

As soon as you notice it though, the effects consideredbly lessen.

And, It's completely useless, against opponent who are emotionally charged, or have a very strong will.

These new aspects of my quirk, although useful. Weren't what I originally hopped for.

I still banked on the fact that my quirk's greatest restriction could one day be removed.

But, My quirk had proven difficult to awaken, I understood it was difficult, considering the fact I've never heard anyone talk about it, like ever.

There wasn't any mention of it on the internet, or anywhere for that matter.

There was one exception though...

Mentioned in Dr. Kyudai's files. I found a more detailed description of what quirk awakening truly was,

And it wasn't until I finally read those files, did I finally figure out what was holding me back.

An awakening is when a user reaches a whole new level of their Quirk.

But instead of training their Quirk to this point, the Quirk makes a sudden leap to this new level of power as a result of the user going through a high tension situation.

Quirks awaken in high tensions situations in order for the user to survive.

It was best to think about it like those sudden surges of strength people get when stressed but applied to Quirks.

I hadn't been truly put into a situation, dangerous enough to awaken my quirk.

So, it was understandable why it didn't happen.

The theory was heavily dependent on the quirk singularity phenomenona, and how that one day. Quirks could one day grow too powerful to control, and how it would all eventually lead to the destruction of humanity.
