Chapter 71: Feeding Squirrels

Luke parks the car near the park again and I just couldn't help but get out before he couldn't even turn the car off. I saw some people walking around in excitement. There was a small carnival by the corner. Some children rides but there was a candy truck. Cotton Candy machine. Pop Corn machine also. Is there a party here? Or is this something that happens randomly every once in a while. Speaking of parties. Luke should make a party in his pack. That way I will be able to meet more and more of his pack. Meet them all. Get to know them gently. Oliver can rest up a bit and not worry about paperwork.

Just have fun for a whole day. Drink even. Well except the minors. That is obvious. I looked around expecting more unknown people just walking around. But I noticed Jeremy sitting down at the far corner. A squirrel in his shoulder as he was giving it a peanut. I have never seen that side of him before. So gentle. So calm. So relaxed. I felt a hand on my own and I looked down. Slightly bit hand so I looked up to the owner of the hand and it was Scarlet. She had looked at me a bit more relaxed. It made me feel a bit more relaxed knowing she is slowly knowing more about this world.

I know it will take time. I know it will hurt her more and more if this all keeps doing what it does. But in the end she has to learn about all of this. I just don't want her getting hurt. She has a good heart but she is so broken inside. I hope Jey does his very best to mend her heart. That's if they truly actual bonded together or mates. In a way it is kind of weird. This whole new world is amazing but scary. Humans are dangerous. They will destroy so much just to make sure they are at the very top. But in the end. At the very end of it all. Humans are at the bottom of the food chain.

It is something to be expected. Humans complain a lot. We can get killed by anything. While these beings can heal with almost anything. I saw a fetal attack on poor Oliver and now his wounds are almost healed away. It is only a faint scar. Well except the scratches. He sadly hasn't fully healed of those. They are a pure scar know. Will that take a while to heal? How long will it take? Will he be happy again? I looked to the side I wanted to at least say hi to Jeremy. It would be rude. But he was gone. There was nobody there. Just a bird taking a quick shit on the bench. I looked to the other side and noticed a male selling nuts. A big bag of peanuts. Though he looks completely tired. Barely had anything in his cart.

So people come here often to feed the squirrels. I looked back to the car and noticed Luke with the small bag of mixed nuts. It had some fruits in it as well. Scarlet held my hand tightly and I looked at her as she was spacing out. I followed her gaze and saw the fountain. I started walking leading her towards the fountain. The person selling cotton candy was near there and a few squirrels where there also. I think trying their best to drink water. Luckily the water is at a good level where if a squirrel falls in they are able to just get out easily.

"Will things get better if I continue this path?" Scarlet finally speaks

I looked at her as we walked gently so I answered with a smile "You know... I had a similar question once... But look at me now... Happy in love and viewing life differently with my best friend in the whole world"

She looks at me with wide eyes and her hand escapes from mine as I sat down on the fountain "I still... I still keep forgetting you had to deal with so much of what your mom had done to you"

I smiled widely as I say the fear still lingering in my own heart "Oh I know... She still haunts my dreams from time to time..."

I am so glad she doesn't know about what had happened when I was gone "So... Tell me... Is it scary? You know... When they..."

"Transform?" I asked as I looked at the two men walking towards us gently

"At first yes... But after that... Is really not scary once you get to know them better... Heck I didn't even know what Jey was... I actually thought he was human" I tell her gently as I scratched behind my head

She had a gentle awkward laugh as she speaks "Yeah... That can be understandable... I didn't even know about this world... But seeing Jey's wings... Those two giant wolves fighting... Seems like I need to get my head out of my ass and just accept all of this"

"What about me?" we hear Jey ask with puppy eyes

"I am still thinking about it" Scarlet responded in seconds

"Oof... Sorry man..." I tell him with a apologetic tone

He sighs out and says "I know this will take time but... I will do my best to gain your trust and love again"

Scarlet is now flustered as she looks away. Luke smacks his arm around Jey's shoulders as he was dragged away. Luke had forgotten something in the car so they went to get it. I looked around me and noticed our purses missing. I had yelled at him letting him now about our purses and he gave me a thumbs up. I smiled gently and I looked at Scarlet as she finally sat down beside me. Her legs kept moving. Wait. I know this movements. Something happened while I was gone. Did they kiss? Did they start dating? Have they gone on dates?

Something else happened. Maybe that's why she hasn't gotten so close to him. I know trauma and a broken heart can be a factor but when one falls in love they do stupid things. She sighs out as she looked up to the sky. Weird. Usually she wouldn't mind talking about anything of everything. I looked to my left and noticed the small bag of nuts and mixed fruits inside. Oh I didn't notice Luke left me this. I looked back to Scarlet as she placed her hand on her chest. Gripping her shirt tightly.

I sighed out gently. She is having a mental battle of what is happened. Everything that has transpired in barely a month. Next month is Valentine's Day. Will she accept him back before Valentine's Day? Or did she try doing something to get him as a gift and then all this happened. Maybe something did happen and she just doesn't know how to handle this new found emotions with information. I do feel like they have done something.

I looked at her shaking hands and I asked "Did you two do something? Is that why you are acting like that with him?"

She quickly looks at me her face beet red as she say "W-What? N-NO!"

My heart raced for a moment as I felt excited and I say "SO YOU GUYS DID SOMETHING! Spill it out... What did you both do? Kiss? Date?"

She starts looking around while blinking the redness in her face even more visible "W-We... W-We had sex..."

I gasped as I did not expect that from her so I say "For real? But... I expected that like once you officially dated"

"I just couldn't resist to be honest... The way our hands touched... The way we danced that day... We just... Ended up doing it a few times" she tells me while she starts to smile gently

"Wait? Danced? A few times? How many times?" I asked more and more

Was it when they met? Did they have sex the same day they met? Oh my god I can't believe my own friend. I never expected her to be capable of attempting a one night stand with a man like that. I expected her to attempt a one night stand with men of her taste. Emo looking men. Meet them at a rock concert get drunk and high with the one that catches her attention and just end up enjoying the night. Not with a rich man slightly skinny and strong. He may be skinny but you can still see muscles. Like he is well built but he is not even my type. Heck. Luke isn't even my type of man. Well built. With a giant tattoo on his back. Rich. My type of man is skinny and scrawny basically. Well male or female. It doesn't matter now.

I have a very strong and tall male as a boyfriend and soon to be husband if he likes the idea of the human version of marriage. Scarlet had stayed in her mind so I just grabbed the bag of nuts and fruits and just started making click sounds with the side of my throat as I had some nuts and fruits in the palm of my hands. At first they just responded to me at a distance as I knew very well they did not trust humans well.

I glanced to the sky as Scarlet already had a squirrel by her side. She had given it a piece of walnut. The tail flicked a bit and then it ran of with the piece of nut in it's mouth. I glanced up to Scarlet as I still feel amazed that she had done that. Well I can't blame her either way. I did have sex with Luke while still trying to get to know him better. I looked forward as I finally noticed the two men walking back. Luke was holding both purses. Mine and Scarlet's purse. Jey had a type of bag. Those weird plastic bags that stores have dangling. It had a cute animal design on the sides.

I smiled gently but I got startled when I felt something in my hands. I had looked down quickly and I had accidentally scared the squirrel away. But it did grab a whole peanut with shell. I felt completely calm and relaxed. I saw the squirrel run back and it had grabbed one of the pieces of fruit this time. It was eating it as it's tail flicked a bit. But once the men had gotten closer the squirrel and the other squirrels that tried to get close had ran off. Vanishing into the trees or keeping their distance.

Scarlet had giggled and I looked at her.

At least she's slowly transitioning.

Slowly but surely.
