6 The Troublesome Troglodyte

Crypt of the Skeletal mage:Wilderness: Northern continent: 6579.03.22 LB

As they slowly descended through the stairs the air grew chilly, and the stairs started thinning when they finally reached the end of the stairs they arrived at a corridor through which they could only go in a file comfortably. So they decided to have Garrot go in first followed by Kyleena and then Lagiel, Melior walked behind her and Theron was closing the party since he was the only one who could fight both at melee and at a range without having to rely upon spells. That was when with a fizzle the mage armor on Lagiel's body disappeared.

Your spell: Mage armor has worn off your AC has been reduced accordingly.

Lagiel sighed in disappointment that she wasted a precious spell slot this morning she cast a lvl 1 and a lvl 0 spell when fighting the wolves... after that, she cast mage armor on herself another of lvl 0 spells. This put her at 5 lvl 1 spell casts left and 16 lvl 0 and it was still early in the morning, who knows what awaited them down below.

As they were advancing the corridor split into two they could go either right or continue advancing forward to the end of the corridor and see what might be there. "Where to? Do we turn or go forward?" Garrot shouted back. "If we choose a side like we always pick the leftmost corridor/door we can go through a labyrinth without losing our way!" Theron butted in from the back. "We might as well follow Mr. Shifty's idea." Kyleena acknowledged the drow's idea. "So left or right?" Garrot asked again. "Why don't we throw up a coin?" "Apart from the fact that we have none? Good question Melior no idea you totally should!" Lagiel snapped at the gnome. "Well someone seems to be a bit on edge? " Melior teased her, "But okay fine I get why we can't throw up a coin but still how are we going to choose?" At that Kyleena shrugged "Just choose one. Why care where it leads? we have no idea what will happen either way. "Okay, I decided I wanna turn right!" Garrot chose to end the fight while it didn't spiral out of control. They followed the winding corridor and they arrived at another crossroads. This time Garrot didn't even ask he just went to the right one and he continued forward. They arrived in front of a wooden door. When Garrot tried to open it the door didn't budge. "This door is locked." "Okay let me open it up!" Theron shoved himself to the front of the party. He started fiddling with some wires and tools he took from his pouch at the keyhole. "This is so stupid... Where would this go... Ah... Nevermind... where are you?... No still not it..." This went on for minutes, and Kyleena just had enough of it. "Get back Shifty! Let me deal with the lock!" She said as she grabbed Theron's shoulder and threw him back. "Now watch how a pro deals with this door!" She shouted as she lifted her leg only to lose her balance, on the uneven flagstone that has been put all over the floor, falling down on her back, at that Theron started laughing so hard that he had to clutch his stomach to not die from laughter, Garret was coughing really hard, Lagiel also giggled a little and Melior just smiled at their childishness. Kyleena jumped up and smiled kindly at Theron. "Was there something you found funny?" She asked in a sickly sweet voice. "Youhuhuh ahahare hihihilarious!" Managed to say Theron not even picking up on the dangerous vibe Kyleena was oozing from herself. Kyleena slowly walked over to him and smiled a bright smile at him then looked at Melior "Can I take the torch from you, my friend?" Putting some extra emphasis on friend. That is when Theron realized hi might have gone a bit overboard, and that there might be irreversible repercussions, "Ummm... Kyleena what do you want to do?" he asked in a scared voice. "I wanna burn the door? What else would I wanna do dummy?" But even before Melior handed her the torch she charged at the door, as she slammed shoulder first into the door its hinges gave way with a loud screech and a snap. Kyleena rushed for about 2 more steps forward before she stumbled again on the uneven terrain and fell flat on the door she broke down. As she was lying on the door she looked up only to see an ugly monsters decomposing body reaching out towards her with its rotting hand, so she did what any sane person would do when something unexpected happens she screamed and slapped away the claws extended in her way, pushing away the zombie at the same time. Garrot rushed into the room and when he saw the zombie right above Kyleena he charged at it slashing with his sword. But as he hit the hulking undead his sword just slid down on the scales this monster once had. Lagiel rushed forward just as fast and lifted her sister out of harm's way. Melior came in with Theron just behind the other two, only to see the Troglodyte swing his lance as if it was a club at Garrot, who could deflect it quite easily with his shield. Theron took out his bow and shot an arrow into the middle of the zombie's forehead. The monster's head snapped back with a sickening crunch, signifying that its neck has broken from the force of the shot, but the monster just lifted its lance and brought it down yet again using it as a club on Garrot, who parried the blow and slashed at the zombie again. This time his sword went through the rotting flesh with ease cutting the monster in half by its waist.

Your party survived an encounter(Lagiel Lenory, Melior Unneron, Kyleena Flamewalker, Garrot Keldar, Theron Shelor. VS. Troglodyte Zombie). Your party has been given the reward of 300 exp, it has been divided between the team, but due to the enemies being part of the dungeon crypt of the skeletal mage you can't get the exp without clearing the dungeon first.

"What was that?" Kyleena asked still shaken from the 'Jumpscare' she went through "I mean apart from being a troglodyte zombie... That much was made clear." Theron shrugged "I would say an undead that had been here for quite long... Apart from that? I don't know what you mean." "I mean aren't zombies supposed to be roaring or screaming or whatever undead do to announce their presence?" "If you were a zombie I am sure you would be always screaming." Garrot joked until he saw the glares of Kyleena and Lagiel. After that, he was just grinning like an idiot at his joke. "So we have a stone door on the northern wall? Any Idea how we might get through? It's not like Kyleena can smash her way through it again..." he said with some mirth still in his voice. "Well I can try to open it up, but don't get your hopes up just yet." Theron grumbled still quite sore about being thrown back when he was fiddling with the lock. He spread his tools on the floor and picked two that seemed like they would fit his purposes.

As they were waiting Kyleena started pacing around the room kicking some pebbles around the room, not even three minutes passed when her patience running thin. "How long is this going to take?" She stomped over to Theron, who answered with a snarky remark without looking at her. "As long as I need, princess!" As soon as he finished that they heard a click. "Oh, I think that the door just opened." He said as he gathered his tools real fast and jumped out of Kyleena's way who was rushing towards the door eager to get out of this accursed room with the corpse of the troglodyte. But when tried to push the door open it didn't budge, at all, so she turned back and looked at Theron, the corner of her mouth spasming in irritation. "Why is the door not budging at all?" She asked in a low voice while looking at Theron. "Are you making fun of me as well?" By this point, she was seething with rage. "Well it might have been open when I started lockpicking I mean I didn't check it if the door was open or not. But it could simply be stuck." Theron defended himself. At that, even Kyleena couldn't help but chuckle sightly and with that, her near tantrum has disappeared into the void. "Just open it already, I had enough of that corpse that scared me." She muttered while glaring at the ex-zombie.

A few seconds after Theron started fiddle-ing with the door it clacked again. He stood up and tried to push the door, but it still didn't budge. He scrunched his eyebrows up and looked at the door again. "It isn't opening!" He declared and backed away a bit before the she-orc threw her again. No offense Garrot. He thought to his new friend as she labeled Kyleena a she-orc. As, Kyleena has been trying to push the door open with her shoulders, without any luck, Lagiel decided to try another route. "Why don't we try one of the other passages? I mean there are 2 unexplored passages that we left behind not too far away. If it doesn't lead anywhere we can just come back any time." "That is a great idea Bro!" Kyleena jumped up and hugged Lagiel." I mean Sis. Sorry." She lowered, her head in shame for reminding her brother about his? Her past. "Chin up Lu," Lagiel smiled at her sister. "You didn't do anything wrong and you knew me as a guy all your life so of course, it will be strange for you." "Okay" Kyleena looked up at her big sister and a beautiful smile adored her fiendish face, she looked so innocent and naive that if Theron didn't know any better he would have thought that she wouldn't be able to hurt a soul. Then the smile came to him when he was threatened by a torch and that feeling flew away.

They left the room the way they entered and chose to turn right at the first possible opening. Kyleena was still the first, and she kicked the wooden door before her. This door seemed to be in a much worse state than the one before as it just flew off its hinges, rotated around sideways and crashed into the northern wall. The landing was the last straw, as the wooden door splintered and fell to little pieces. But at the same time, it knocked something off of the wall, when it crashed into it. Kyleena poked her head inside and looked around. When she saw that there was nothing important in the room she just entered and picked up what was knocked off the wall. "Oh, nice! Loot!" she shouted at the others who were looking at her mouth agape. "What do you think you are doing?"Asked Lagiel while trying to keep her calm.

"I am looting!" Came the cheerful voice of Kyleena and then she put the mask on her head, It looked a lot like a fox face mask. It was red with a few white stripes serving as highlights." How do I look?" She asked as she put on the mask. "Like Foxgirl from DarkCat comics..." Said Theron thoughtfully. "I think so too!" answered Kyleena as she was looking at herself in her dagger using the light of the torch that Garrot was holding. "Let's cont... Auuggrrr..."
