Prologue

A world surrounded by endless terrifying darkness along with conditions so unbearable , it's almost impossible to think that any living beings can persist. It's as if it's the end of the world, and there's nothing that can be done to save it.

On this day, at a certain underground facility, a group of people sat across a bed. Their faces showing no hints of emotion, as if they were devoid of it all.

They are some of the last few surviving humans in this world, that could once be recognised as Earth.

At this moment, the old looking figure lying on the bed, raised his voice and spoke in a very hoarse tone, "What's the final test been like, are there actually no means of escape?"

Hearing this the group of people sitting simply remained silent as if they knew who the man on the bed was asking the question to. A mechanical voice then spoke, "Director, the latest test S073 failed, test S074 will commence soon." in a completely emotionless tone.

The old men simply sighed, closed his eyes and muttered, "Is this really how far our mighty civilization has fallen?"

He still vividly remembered that day when the world met its ultimate demise. The ground shoke, the sky almost splitted in half, and a giant ray of light which appeared all over the world, so bright that it almost blinded the eye. Yet, what they felt at that moment was fear beyond belief, as if end has appeared, to destroy the world.

Eventhough, the light appeared only for a meoment, but the destruction it caused was unthinkable.

The previously technological world ushered in complete ruins. Everyone suddenly began to age rapidly for no rhymes or reason. No matter what technology or medications were used, nothing could slow down this inhuman aging.

People began to die in billions. With almost 1/3rd of the population dying the moment after the light flashed away.

However, the one which was effected the most were not the living beings but the world itself. It's as if the light's goal was the world, not the living beings at all.

The ocean was almost sucked out. The soil slowly began turning into rocks, losing all it's previous luster. Trees dying en masse and volcanoes erupting all over the world, covering the world in ash and boiling magma.

This underground facility like many others could be seen as one of the last few remaining safe space for all living beings. During this time, numerous attemps were made to leave earth.

However, all of them ended in failure. It's as if the world was bound by a force field not allowing anyone or anything to leave.

Thinking about this, the old man who was in his early 40s a couple weeks ago let out his last breathe, forever leaving this world.

The group surrounding the old man stood up, pressed a button and left the room. There was no reaction on their faces, as if they were numbed to the emotion known as grief all together. On the background they could hear some mechanical sound of machinery putting the old man in a coffin.

Only 4 people now remain. Going their own way to prepare for their ultimate end.
