Abandoned Outpost

3 days before the apocalypse, Moon.

In the calm dead silence of space, a man in a specialised suit could be seen waking towards an abandoned lunar outpost. His rover parked a bit further away.

As the man approached, a small beam of light appeared on his field of vision. A mechanical voice then sounded in his ear piece, "Identification verified, Welcome Mr. Ektor".

Ektor Doyle, who looked to be in his early 20s, was on his way towards the general mission outpost, recieved an emergency SOS a few hours ago. He checked the radar, and found that he was the nearest person here, so he arrived.

Looking at it now, Ektor was a bit stupefied thinking how the SOS could be from an abandoned site such as this. Also looking at the model, it seems to be one of the earliest moon bases that was built here.

Ektor updated his logs and sent a message to his mission manager. As he entered the base, he looked at the dilapidated base which seemed nothing out of the ordinary.

As he went further inside, he saw a very dim light that was coming from the centre of the base. He picked up his gun, and approached it. What he saw was a dark looking gem that had cracks on it which had light coming out of it.

Looking at this odd thing, he pointed his scanner to it. Only for a single word appeared in his field of vision, "Unidentified".

Ektor then decided to pick it up, only for the black gem like crystal to shatter instantaneously. What was revealed was a glowing blue light which directly rammed towards his body.

Before he could do anything, his suit was punctured through. While emergency repair was been done, blood started gushing out of his body.

Unable to move, Ektor felt that death was approaching at this moment. However, a shock then quickly passed through his entire body not letting him to think any further. He then passed out, as if in deep sleep.
