A Cat Infestation?
"Here's your coffee, sir", Emiko says to the young gentleman who order a strong espresso to give him a boost of caffeine before he goes to work. Emiko walks into the break room to take a short break before continuing work. It's the morning of the weekend and Hiroshi asked Emiko, Kichi, Midori and Nikko for help for this weekend due to him being on break. "I never knew he does so much during the weekend", Nikko says and Midori looks at him and tells him, "Well, he doesn't have any other worker besides us and we never helped him out during weekends. So let's take this as a way of saying thanks to him for helping us out during our down times". Everyone nods and continued to do more work during the busy weekend.
Everyone is running around the café as chaos ensues with the abundance of customers coming in and out of the café asking for various food and drinks. "Hey, I didn't ask for this latte! I asked for a cappuccino!", a lady yells at Nikko who was in a rush. "My bad ma'am. I'll fix it up for you", he says as he grabs her drink and put the latte in the break room for someone to drink and fix her up a cappuccino. Emiko slips on the slippery floor that Midori just cleaned but Kichi quickly caught her before she fell. "Are you alright?", he ask her and she nods, "I'm fine. I shouldn't run too much knowing Midori just cleaned the floors". They both continued their work as chaos is slowly dying down. Midori put up a "On Break!" sign in front of the store so that everyone could take a breather and cool down for a moment as it has now reached the middle of the day.
Nikko drinks the latte that he left in the room which has sadly went cold after being left on the table for an hour while everyone grabs some snacks and drinks to energize themselves up before the next pack of customers would arrive to the café. "I think we should write down some notes on what we do today and tomorrow so that we could use it on our club for whenever it gets busy", Midori says to them before flipping to the next page of her notebook to write down some notes. "I am so tired!", Nikko complains. Emiko looks at him with a tired look, "Nikko, don't complain too much you weren't even running as much as I did", Nikko replies, "But I was running to the café earlier cause I was late and didn't have time to rest. I have a good reason for my tiredness". Kichi chows down on the donuts that he freshly baked as a special offer limited for only that weekend. "Hey, let's all eat some delicious donuts now", he says to them with a happy tone in his voice. Everyone grabbed a donut and were delighted with how it tasted in their mouth. "Kichi! This taste so good! Where did you learn to make these donuts from?", Emiko ask him with a curiosity. "Oh, I just help around the house with cooking and baking. I learned a few tricks here and there, and was able to come up with this recipe", he tells her and Midori asks for a recipe so that she could make them herself. Kichi provided her and everyone else the recipe to making such delicious tasting donuts.
After taking a relaxing break, Emiko goes up to the door to change the sign into "Open!" for them to continue their work. Suddenly, Orange the neighborhood cat enters the café and it surprised Emiko. "Why hello there Orange." she greets the cat with a warm smile as the cat rubs on her leg which made her awed in her cuteness. Emiko grabbed Orange and put her in the break room with Kichi who was cleaning the break room. "Hey Kichi! Look who I stumbled upon at the front door", she says to him. "Oh it's Orange. How did she get here?", he ask her but she gave him a dumbfounded face. "You do know she likes to walk around the neighborhood, right?", she says to him as he looks the other way in embarrassment. Emiko giggles and told him to get back to work and she'll finish cleaning the break room for him. He walks out of the room and now Emiko is not only cleaning the room but also taking care of Orange. She provided Orange some food and left the backdoor open for in case the cat would wanna leave the break room and she continues with cleaning the break room.
After she finished cleaning the room, she found out that Orange brought a friend with her to stay in the break room. Emiko took a pic of the two cute cats before continuing with work but she left the backdoor wide open. The café was no longer in chaos compare in the morning but it was expected due to people rushing to work and other stuff early in the morning. "Here's your donuts", Kichi says to the kids who ordered the special chocolate sprinkled donuts. Nikko and Midori are serving some of the old folks who usually hangout with one another in the evening as they both are struggling to ask them for their order. Emiko is help handling with making the drinks while Kichi is busy making the food. Emiko and Kichi while waiting for Midori and Nikko to give them the customers orders, they write down on their note books about how to improve their work ethics and performance as a worker at the café and a worker at their own café club back in school. Emiko also wrote down a few more things that she hides from Kichi. After awhile, they switched places with Midori and Nikko letting them deal with the foods and drinks while they deal with customer services.
After a long day of work, Midori finally puts up a sign saying "Closed!" to indicate the café is closed for today. Everyone took a sigh in relief and decided to celebrate their success on not fully destroying the café while Hiroshi was on break. Emiko and the others walk into the break room to see what they were missing from that evening. Chaos. Orange brought along all her cat friends in the neighborhood into the break room. There were nearly two dozen of them which shocked everyone that Orange had so many friends to begin with. "How in the world did this cats got in here?!", Midori screams in confusion as the thought slowly sink into Emiko's head that she forgot to let Orange and her friend out earlier and not closed the backdoor leading to the cat infestation that are slowly eating the food that are available in the break room. "I am so sorry you guys!", Emiko apologizes to them. "I did all of this! I forgot to let Orange and her friend out earlier alongside forgetting to close the backdoor", Kichi comforts her. "It's fine Emiko! People make mistakes", he tells her to help calm her down. "But, you have to do the most cleaning out of all us", he tells her before getting bonked in the head with a broom by Midori. "That isn't nice Kichi!", she yells at him. Kichi apologizes to Emiko. "Alright you guys! Let's clean this cat infestation up and call it a day so we can just take a break at home", Midori tells them all and they all agreed with Nikko being a bit drowsy. Midori hits him in the head with the broom to wake him up.
They all split up work with Emiko and Midori dealing with the cats while Kichi and Nikko cleans the break room. The girls lead the cats out the backdoor by bribing them with some cat food. They put the cat food in the ally way where they set up a warm resting area for the cats to take a rest and warm themselves up. All the cats fell asleep and they were awed by cuteness and took some pics of the cats sleeping on their new warm and comfy resting area. The boys tidied up the break room and repair the broken shelves and furniture of the room to make it look all brand new again but Nikko also screamed in pain as he accidentally hit the hammer onto his hand which gave him a shock. "Nikko, are you alright?", Kichi ask with a worried look on his face. "I'm alright", he says as the tries to act tough and cool while hiding the obvious pain in his eyes. "Don't lie to me now. You are definitely in pain right now", he tells him off and put some ice onto his hand to cool down the pain. When the girls got back the room was tidied up and look brand new. They praised the boys for their hard work and they all took a small break before changing out into their normal clothes.
Midori locks up the café and they all said goodbye to one another before parting ways to go back to their home. Emiko had a wonderful but also strange day today. She decides to write her whole experience in her diary of secrets to remind her future self all about the past adventures she went on that she doesn't wish to forget and this one definitely fits in her diary perfectly.
