Chapter 4-Birthday

Chapter 4

Brianna had shuffled in her bed as she noticed the sunlight peek through the certain as she realized it was morning. She relished the fact she was allowed to sleep later than usually because it was her day, and everything today was about her. Which is found in the pros and cons of, especially because her parents were King and Queens. She stood upright in bed as she thought about how today was the day the vampire and wolf clan would come together in peace to not only celebrate her but honor the treaty as she thought back to the words of the first.

" I know it will not be easy, but you are capable of this. The Prince and you." The words repeated in the back of her head, as she ran her hand through her hair.

" Will the prince actually be open to this opportunity of friendship?" She spoke to herself as she knew this would be befitting her in many ways but she hoped she could achieve at least that.

Then the door opened as the brown locks of her father and mother appeared.

" I'm already up." Brianna answered, rolling her eyes. As her parents had the same routine, of attempting to wake her up on her birthday, before she did. However, she was too slyly for such tricks.

" Oh, dear. She beat us to it." Lucia reported as Silas shook his head as they both walked in grinning ear to ear as they sat on the bed.

" Happy one hundred fourty one birthday, Brianna!" Her father made known her exact age as they all pulled in for a hug.

" Thank you father. I appreciate it even though you do not have to constantly remind me of how old I am to the kingdom" Brianna joked as her father squeezed her hand.

" Oh dear. But you will hear that alot today. Plus you are very young." Lucia smiled as she kissed her head.

" And may you live a hundred…. A thousand years more!" Silas exclaimed.

Brianna smiled as she felt so grateful and so loved, " I hope so. Now have the guests arrived?"

" Most of the vampires are here." Lucia hinted. " And the wolves will arrive later in the evening."

" Good, everything should be set for this celebration.Did cousin Ethan come as well?" Brianna pondered about her cousin who had a deeply run hatred for wolves.

" Unforetaley or fortealey, yes. He probably was forced to come. He has come with his group just in case. However, if anything goes wrong-" Silas was interrupted by his daughter.

" Am I allowed to put him in his place?" Brianna suggested as her eyes glimmered a deep red as her father gave in to her excitement.

He nodded as he replied, " Just because it is your day. I will oversee any royal misconduct or misbehavior my lovely daughter does to maintain the image of the Vampire clan."

A wide grin appeared on Brianna's face as she felt bad for her cousin, because if it were not for the situation he would be king now. Although she did feel bad there was a part of her that did not, her cousin always disputed and made it clear that he would never accept a half blood weakling like herself as a vampire or future queen. So it was fair in her opinion. However they didn't completely hate one another. They were blood related after all.

" Well then, we will leave you to prepare for the ball." Her mother chimed in as they gave one final hug before leaving.

Brianna got up from her bed as she walked up to the windows as she pulled the curtains open. The bright light pierced her retina as she adjusted to the beautiful yellow clear light as she stared out into the forest and pathway. The wind blew in as she smelled every particle, and scent from the flowers to the trees to other vampires, and even some of the wolves that were making their way. She did not know if it was because it was her birthday she felt the day would be expectular. As she looked up to the skies closely she drew the outline of the moon as the shape amazed her.

" Full moon, what a coincidence." Brianna whispered as she tapped her chin as she could hear the footsteps of someone nearing as she waited as the door silently opened as she turned around and screamed.

" HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

Adelaide pouted her lips as she knew she could not surprise Brianna, " Just one, one day I am going to get you." She said as her lips turned upright as she hugged Bri. " Happy Birthday my friend!'

They parted as they held hands, " Thank you, Adelaide. And you know you cannot beat me."

" I let you win for today, Brianna." Adelaide laughed as she looked around, " So what do we do first your highness? You can see the splendour of dresses custom designed for you as gifts from your parents, you can have your favorite breakfast, and open up the gifts from guests. I really do wonder what those wolves got you."

" How about a bath first." Brianna insisted as she felt she could not go on with her day before cleansing her body properly.

" Of course, we just received the best scent lather that has a mix of hibiscus, rose, and you just smell divine even to those wolves."

" Be careful, I don't want to be too beautiful, they might fall in love with me."

Adelaide rolled her eyes as she helped Brianna bathe, " Well that would be impossible?"

" How so?" Brianna relaxed as Adelaide messaged her scalp as she closed her eyes. Adelaide would give the best scalp messages as she almost fell back asleep.

" Do you know how beautiful you are?" Adelaide questioned as she grabbed the water.

" Oh, please. Some vampires don't even stand the sight of me because of my half-blood hybrid self." Brianna retorted. As she did know she was gifted with charm, but it seemed less important than one's character.

" Although true, your beauty is unmatched, I don't know if it is your human or vampire side but you appear much loveir and livier than us all." Adelaide contemplated as she handed Brianna a cloth to clean herself.

" Oh please, there are many beautiful vampires just like yourself." Brianna began as Adelaide smiled, " That is the gift of vampires unparalleled supernatural beauty."

" Alright we can call it a tie, but my personal vote goes to you." Adelaide winked as Brianna had finished bathing as she dressed herself in moderate clothing.

" So what's next?" Brianna questioned as she walked back into the room with Adelaide following.

" Anything you want. We could literally go and scream to the top of our lungs in the room or eat breakfast." Adelaide suggested as she rubbed her chin.

Brianna's eyes lit up as she came with the perfect idea.

" Oh no I know that look." Adelaide shook her head.

" Oh come on, it is my birthday."

" Fine, what is it?"

" I want to go see downstairs, how the grand hall and everywhere else is decorated."

" But Bri! It's supposed to be a surprise!"

" Please, I have been alive for a hundred forty one years, I deserve to break the rules once." Brianna stated as Adelaide bit her lip as she wondered what was the worst that could happen.

" Okay, okay." Adelaide gave in as Brianna threw her hands in the air, " I'll stay here just in case of anything, but I am giving you five minutes or I will go hunt you myself."

" Just enough time." Brianna agreed as she wasted no time as she left the room carefully watching out for any guards, any vampires, or her parents. As she carefully hid behind a pillar whenever someone would pass by. Within seconds she arrived at the main floor, she noticed every inch was decorated with jewels and flowers as they were to be on any such occasion, but this was different as her favorite flower was cherry blossoms that were hanging from the ceiling adoring the place beautifully. There were also red roses laid out alongside miss me, not flowers like a carpet leading up to the grand hall that signify the vampire clan and werewolf clan's new beginning. She had been alive for a hundred and forty one years and yet every time her parents had been able to outdo themselves. She stood behind a pillar as servants came near her and as she noticed their presence had left she peaked out her head as she was about to lay eyes on the most adorned room and her throne when she turned around she was stopped by a man.

Brianna's eyes widened as she did not think she was caught but had no idea who this man was.

" You're not supposed to see that until, later your highness." The blonde man said gracefully as he carried a soft smile on his lips.

Brianna did not know exactly how to react other than just simply asking for his name, " I'm sorry, but who are you?"

" Oh! Of course." The man agreed as he kneeled as he carefully grabbed Brianna's hand and placed a kiss on it. " I am Marquess Ambrose, son of Duke Estarossa."

Brianna's cheeks reddened by the sweet formal gesture as she realized this was the man who was her supposed mate. She quickly spoke, " You may rise, Marquess."

As he rose she noticed just how tall he was as she felt quite small as her head reached below his shoulder. She further inspected him as she realized he carried a mix of dirty and honey blonde hair which went along perfectly with his silvery eyes. His skintone was a bit fairer than hers revealed that he was a full vampire, although the difference was not much. He carried a straight nose as his lips with a reddish pink hue were equally symmetrical to his face. She couldn't lie that this stranger was handsome. Whether him being a vampire helped or not she couldn't help but feel a certain attraction.

She snapped out of her inspection as he spoke, " Please just call me Ambrose, your highness."

" Alright then Ambrose. May I help you with anything?" Brianna wondered as she

" Oh no, I was just strolling through the mansion when I caught sight of you." Ambrose informed as Brianna nodded, pondering how the hell she did not sense him. She had a good sense of tracking and never once had someone tricked her.

" Did you follow me because I could not sense your presence before?" Brianna accused as she crossed her arms.

" No, no. I swear I'm just very light and diligent on my feet, and when I saw you sneaking around I wondered if it was the right time to ask you." Ambrose explained himself as he rubbed the back of his neck as his cheeks turned crimson.

Brianna perked her brow as she was amazed by his reaction as she asked, " Ask me about what?"

" Well, if you would give me the honor of being your first dance." Ambrose requested as he tucked a piece of hair behind his ear and then placed his hands behind his back as he awaited Brianna's response.

Brianna smiled as she found this endearing, he was like a little boy asking for candy. She couldn't sense an amount of deceit rather his heart beating a thousand miles per hour. Every second that passed it pulsated quicker. He was quite strange. Vampires had slow heartbeats yet Ambrose defied logic. He was nervous? Nervous? Vampires don't get nervous? It's a feeling they just don't experience. She had misunderstood him, as she decided to give him an opportunity.

" Yes." Brianna said in a courteous manner as Ambrose's eyebrow perked up.

" Y-yes?" He questioned as he stuttered.

" Yes." Brianna reassured as his silver eyes sparkled like the moon as he attempted to contain his excitement.

" Thank you. I am very grateful for that." He beamed.

" No, thank you. It would have been awkward without having a dance partner." Brianna said with a fond look. No one would ask her anyways just like all her other birthdays expect other species.

" I doubt that you are the most eminent and celebrated person today. Everyone should be waiting in line for you." Ambrose complimented as Brianna shook her head.

" Well, I am not liked by everyone, and I cannot help that." Brianna admitted as she bit her lip and began walking as Ambrose followed.

" Just because you're different." Ambrose stated flatly because most vampires, if not all knew of half breed existence.

Brianna nodded as that was the only reason she was outcasted, because people decided she was not good enough. However, as years passed she grew and as she grew she came to love herself and accept that she was in fact different, even if everyone thought it was bad.

" Well being different isn't bad, it means to decide to live uniquely as yourself instead of living like everyone else. And I in fact happen to like that you are not like others." He added as Brianna had stopped in mid stride as she never had anyone say such comforting words. No one knew how hard it was to be the Princess of Vampires, that people did not accept. She never knew if she would become Queen if she would have anyone to support her but Ambrose proved otherwise.

" Are you shocked by my words?" Ambrose smirked as she met his eyes.

In fact, those eyes were so much more beautiful that she had realized contemplated with her long blonde lasheyes . The light reflecting off them made them look like diamonds. They seemed comforting and safe. Different. Never had such eyes looked at her

" Yes, to be honest. No one has ever said such words about me." She confessed as he grinned ear to ear.

" Well, I just feel those words to be true, and hopefully I could see more of the things others don't." He said a flirtatious way as Brianna gave a small smile.

" Maybe, you will." Brianna hypothesized as she continued, " Anyways, if you excuse me Ambrose, I have to get prepared for the ball."

" Of course, although I don't think you can get any more beautiful than you already are." Ambrose assured as Brianna rolled her eyes as she walked away.

As Ambrose turned the other way he felt extremely excited and nervous from the moment he heard they had finally found his beloved. He had always seen others in love, his brother, his parents, and he always pondered how it would feel like. When he heard that his mate was the Princess of Vampires, he wondered if she would accept him. She could possibly reject him for any reason she liked, especially being a princess and him a marquess, but due to his memories he hoped that she would not. He remembered as he used to play around and she would always be so serious reading her books like her life depended on it. But when he got injured she would immediately comfort and almost cried because she believed it was her fault to look after him. He wondered after all this time she had changed, but no she was the same little studious girl that would cry because when he was injured and hopefully he could get the same girl to fall in love with him.

Michael looked out from in front of the mansion gates as he looked up at the midnight blue sky as the full moon had risen to its highest peak as he used a mighty force of his lungs to exert a howl signaling their night as well as their coming arrival. As he had caused a domino effect which the rest of the tribe in conjunction howled one after the other.

" You guys are so loud!" Lenore complained as she called from the carriage a few feet ahead of it, as she peeked her head out.

" Why are you complaining? You're not walking." Michael retorted as he along with the rest of the wolves walked as his parents along with his sister rode in the carriage as they preferred so while him being the leader he stayed with the rest.

" You make us look uncivil." Lenore said with a sigh of irritation.

" Really? This is our custom. This is who we are. " Michael began as he smirked, " Right, everyone we are wolves, and this is our custom."

" Absolutely!" Some wolves yelled as the young ones were specially alive today.

" We are proud of being wolves." Others informed as they continued to howl.

" And this is our way of announcing ourselves to those vampires!" Eli spoke up as the howls became stronger.

Lenore shook her head as she formed a tight smile, " Uncultured I don't even know how..." She trailed off as she sat back inside.

Michael laughed as he looked at Eli who was grinning ear to ear.

" You seem excited." Michael noticed as he moved forward.

" Well because we are all here together. It feels like family. Not so lonely." Eli confessed as he looked at the beautiful night sky.

" Are you sure? Or maybe because you might see someone beautiful ladies there?" Michael joked as he tossed his arm over his shoulder.

" Please, no. God no, Michael!" Eli rejected the idea of finding a vampire beautiful. " Besides, I should be asking you that. You are one of the highly esteemed guests today and probably most likely have to speak to the Princess all night so there is no conflict."

Michael shrugged, " I'm alright, as long as everything runs smoothly there will be no fight. I have commanded the pack as well. As long as I do not give them a signal, they must not under any circumstance attack any vampire."

" I think we'll keep our promise, but what about them?" Eli questioned as he scratched his head.

Michael stared at the ground as he said with firm persistence, " I believe they will as well. It's their beloved Princess's birthday. They wouldn't risk any conflict, especially knowing the consequences the King and Queen might take."

" So all smiles and giggles?" Eli suggested as he wiggled his brows.

Michael's lips upturned, " Yeah, all smiles and giggles."

" And who exactly are we smiling at?" A voice spoke up as they turned their heads as they realized the redhead with glimmering black eyes was. The one who constantly fought for his attention. Who even went to far lengths as being his sister's supposed best friend as she was around Lenore just to be near him.

" No one in particular, Aurora." Michael blankly stated as he moved onward. He did not want to entertain any of her silly ideas. That would only be trouble for him.

" Good, that means all eyes on me." Aurora bragged as she held her dress up from getting dirty.

" Technically all eyes will be on the Princess, Aurora." Eli clarified.

" Yeah, yeah. But she must be horrifically pale and ugly being one of those creatures." Aurora criticized as she bit her lip.

" I actually hear the opposite. I hear the Princess is quite beautiful that all creatures alike pale in her presence. She is so beautiful, some say that she holds all the beauty of night, and even vampires who are known for their beauty fall short." Eli exaggerated what Lenore had told him before as he loved messing with Aurora because of her ego as Michael turned to him as he raised his eyebrow at the comment.

" Just go along with it." Eli mouthed as Aurora snared.

" Well what do you think of Michael, this so-called Princess' beauty?" Aurora stressed as she wanted to know the innermost thoughts of the man she loved.

Michael shook his head, " It does not matter if she is beautiful or not. She is a vampire, it's not like I can mate with her."

Aurora's smile grew as she grabbed onto his arm, " Good,I get to keep you all to myself." She flaunted as she felt in a dream as Eli chuckled as Michael gave him a death stare as he attempted to cover it up as they made their way.
