A Survivor in a World of Dragons

POV: 3rd Person

We cut to a man with a oil stained apron and a thick mask inside a messy workshop, random parts were littered everywhere as he welded together some pieces of metal and Kevlar.

He removed his mask revealing a overgrown beard and messy hair and a look of pure concentration etched onto his face.

POV Shift: Noah

I need to finish this before sun rise

The raid is happening tomorrow and I don't even have a proper set of armor yet!

Without this that beast will blend me into a smoothie with one swing! I'm not even sure if a M2 is enough to pierce its exoskeleton! Let's just hope that Brandon has a good plan, who am I kidding? He never has a plan. Psh!

Let's just finish this set of armor first, this armor is made from the plates of a tank! If the beast still manages to pierce through this then what can block it? Captain America's Shield? I laughed at my own joke.

I'm very surprised.

He does have a plan. Apparently he had some mycelium lying around which I used to craft some radioactive molotovs. This should weaken the beast's exoskeleton by quite a bit, oh did I mention? We were fighting a gigantic ant the size of a small house.

The most broken animal of the animal kingdom scaled up to a thousand! A normal ant could lift fifty times its own body weight so this ant could probably take down a sky scraper if it wished to. Brandon told me only now so even with my tanky armor I can still be turned to Swiss cheese.

Let's just hope that it's defense is not equal to it's offense.

We had a literal metric ton of guns and explosives though so we can probably kill it easy enough.

I was wrong.

So very wrong.

We accounted for it's defenses and it's strength but what we failed to account for was it's regeneration, each limb that we blew off would be regenerated in ten seconds max, it managed to force us to separate so now I was on my own being chased by a fortress with legs

I was on a motorcycle driving 80 miles an hour as I dodged the slashes and the spits of the mutant ant. No, it was a understatement to call it a mutant, each step of it left a spiderweb of cracks on the pavement, it's spit was able to turn steel into molten soup, Each charge that I dodged made it demolish a house or two.

I suddenly heard Brandon's voice from the built in radio on my motorcycle.

Bro! Are you all right?! He yelled with concern etched onto his tone.

Does it sound like I'm fucking all right?!!!! I yelled back with fear and a tiny bit of anger as I dodged another charge from the beast, no the monster.

Fine , Just hang in there!! He shouted.

If you can do it go to the Skyscraper at xxxxxx!! We'll be there and we're gonna give that motherf*cker one good ass whooping!! Brandon said one last time as the radio went back to static.

That son of a b*tch. 

*Huff* I need to stay calm, being angry won't do anything in this situation. Think, think think!! What can I do in this situation!?! The monster's swipes and spits are getting closer and closer as I get more exhausted. I will never reach the skyscraper like this, I need to slow him down.

I searched through my inventory to find something to slow him down. I had some left over grenades from the initial tussle so I dumped them on it right as we turned the corner. I tried to dump it on it's head but the 80 mile per hour vehicle i was on messed up my aim so it got dumped on its legs instead.

The explosion managed to mangle a few legs of the ant which made it much slower but it was still capable of movement. This allowed me to gain enough distance though that I reached the skyscraper with quite a lead.

I parked my vehicle at the side of the sky scraper as Brandon walked up to me.

POV shift: 3rd person

Noah and Brandon met in the middle with a bear hug "I knew you would live you son of a bitch". Brandon said as he patted Noah's back.

Noah guffawed " Why are you cursing me now Brand?? You're the one that pulled me into this death trap of a mission.

Brandon immediately changed the topic from that as he talked " We will lure the monster inside that sky scraper using a mannequin doused with ethically sourced human blood. We will then collapse the building on that thing's back using some C-4 that we have planted around the building.

"if he still somehow lives then we have the entire perimeter surrounded with men" He pointed towards the mercenaries armed to the teeth that were making sand bag defenses and mounting their M2s.

" These guys are rich!! Do they have any spare equipment that I can take?? " Noah asked while eyeing their equipment."

Brandon pointed towards a green military tent int he distance " There's some over there, arm yourself and come back outside, we might need your help ".

Noah nodded back as he made his way inside the tent.

Inside the tent was a mattress a table filled with guns and magazine and some cabinets filled with supplies and a mattress.

He quickly replaced the guns inside his inventory. He picked a model 21 double barreled shotgun, a AK-47, A desert eagle, and some molotovs. and made his way back outside.

He then walked towards Brandon who was commanding some mercenaries.

" Well the beast is taking longer than expected " Noah said with a frown on his face.

" You probably lost him so he is tracking y- BOOM!!!" Brandon was interrupted as a ear ringing explosion transpired collapsing the skyscraper entirely.

" I guess we got him? " Brandon said with a not so sure look on his face.

" Don't get your hopes up " I said as i hid myself behind one of the sand bag walls which Brandon swiftly copied.

There was silence 

The silence persisted for almost 5 minutes but no one dared to check or get overconfident, this wasn't the movies after all, this was real life, people had brains here.

When Noah was about to go check a clang rung out instantly dissipating his thoughts of victory.

*Clang*

*Clang*

*Clang

The sounds were getting louder and louder until finally...

*SHRIEK*

A ear piercing, hate filled shriek travelled through the air deafening everybody in the vicinity

FIRE!!!

PUMP HIS GUTS FULL OF LEAD!!!

Self motivating shouts were heard as everybody fired their weapons at once.

A thunderous roar of hundreds of guns at one was hear as a continuous hail of bullets were fired at the creature, the creature was still weakened from the skyscraper falling down on top of it so it was fairly quick before it's final cry was heard. 

Brandon walked towards the monster and kicked it a few times before turning his back to it...

It was not over though

It's familiar shriek was heard once again as it released it's final acid spit as a desperate attempt to kill at least someone.

It's target was the person closest to it, Brandon.

It's attack flew towards Brandon but before it could land, Noah blocked it with a steel shield. The attack melted through the shield faster than Noah could react as it seeped into his arms.

Kill it!!

It's still alive!!

finally a rocket landed on it's head ending it once and for all.

Brandon let out a deep breath, his shoulders sagging in relief " Whew! That was a close one! Right Bro? 

When he didn't hear a response he asked again.

Noah?

He finally turned around to his horror to see Noah leaning against the wall of a dilapidated building.

" Noah!! " He ran towards and kneeled by his side with his eyes moistening up a bit.

" Bro you're gonna be all right, You're gonna be all right. " He whispered it like a mantra.

" I guess this is it, thanks for everything bro " Noah said with resignation, radiation already running rampant in his body, His vision blurred as his body fought to survive, but it was futile.

NO, WE'RE LOSING HIM!!! MEDIC!! MEDIC!!!!!!!!!! The shouting of his brother from another mother was the last thing he heard before his vision went black.
