10/9/2010.
Hey, It's been two months since my meeting with the 'All Father', and I got to say, things have been great so far.
I got Jane and her gang with Thor to come here with the help of a friend who is now a leading figure in ISRO and my dad. Oh yeah, I should probably tell you guys about the difference in government between this world and the last but latter. I need 'Me' to focus on the plot for now.
Now, where was I? yeah, Jane and Thor. I will be meeting them in a few minutes. Why don't you join me? And get out of my head, will ya?
Pov Shift.
Jane was sitting in a local restaurant enjoying the different foods which were usually not available to her. Joining her was her intern, mentor, and boyfriend? She didn't know what to think of the man she ran over with her RV a month ago.
He had shown her a new world and helped her find proof for many of her theories. Yet, she did not know where he came from or who he was.
"Jane, Jane! JANE!" yelled Darcy breaking her out of her stupor.
"Wa...what?" asked Jane.
"I was asking... Who are we supposed to meet here?"
"That would be me, Ms. Lewis," said a young man approaching the table with a smile getting their attention. He had shoulder-length hair and hazel-green eyes that made anyone who looked at them at ease. He wore a black shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows in addition to black pants and slippers.
"and you are?" asked Erik Selvig.
"Pardon the late introduction. I am Dr. Rohith Mehera. It is an honor meeting you, Dr.Selvig. Your paper on inter-planetary influences helped me a lot in completing my own," said Rohith as he offered his hand.
"I would shake your hand, but..." Erik as he raised his dirty hand.
"It's fine; I hope you are enjoying the food," Rohith said with a disarming smile.
"It's great and a bit too much," Erik said as he glanced at the half-finished platter of food in front of him, causing the young man to chuckle.
"Yes, it certainly is. Hello, Dr. Foster; your new papers on the structure of the Milkyway galaxy are enlightening and intriguing. Did you base your observations on the legends of Yggdrasil?" asked Rohith as he turned his attention toward the woman.
"Yes, I find that most legends hold some semblance of truth in them," answered Jane with a business smile.
"True, they also hold answers to many questions that plague our lives," replied Rohith as he turned to the only 'unknown' in the group looking at him with intrigue and caution.
"And who might the gentleman be?" asked Rohith as he sized up the blond.
"I am-"
"He is Thor Odinson. You know, like the god of thunder and Jane's boyfriend," answered Darcy with good-natured humor causing Jane to blush and Thor to give her a small mirthless smile.
Rohith looked shocked for a moment before giving Thor a Nordic salute.
"I welcome the crown prince of Asgard to Midgard and my humble abode."
That left the group stunned for totally different reasons. Jane and Erik were just wondering if he was messing with them. Darcy was just shocked because of the change in his posture/feeling. Thor was stunned because someone greeted him in an Asgardian salute and did not mock him.
Thor suddenly stood up, knocking his chair over, and disappeared in a spark only to reappear near Rohith and envelop him in a literal bone-crushing hug.
"Thank you," whispered Thor while his eyes started tearing up.
"...can't...breath...ribs...breaking..." wheezed Rohith as his bones started squeaking.
A few minutes later.
"Sorry about that," apologized Thor as he stood there with an embarrassed expression.
"Don't worry about it. Just don't do that again," said Rohith as he rubbed his ribs while keeping Jane between the two of them.
"Why did you do that tho?" asked Darcy.
"Do what?" asked Rohith with a raised eyebrow.
"Greet him like that?"
"Oh, that? Well, it's tied to the reason I had you guys come here in the first place. I will explain later. Now, are you guys done with your lunch?"
"Yeah, We can't eat anymore," said Jane looking at their unfinished lunches, except Thor's, which was empty.
"Great! We can go to the observatory now. Thor, you should come too. The kids are going to love hearing your war stories," said Rohith as he walked out, leading the guests to the minibus, waiting for them without a chance to protest.
"Wait! You believe him?" asked Darcy as she caught up with him.
"Of course, why would I not? Especially, considering what I found the past two months," answered Rohith as they entered the minibus.
"What did you find? And how is it important to us?" asked Erik.
"Well, that's what I am going to show you, and it is very, VERY important, especially since it concerns your guest," Rohith replied in a grim tone causing the others to quiet down.
A few minutes later.
"Welcome to Divya Drishti, World's most advance telescope and observatory," introduced Rohith with pride as he welcomed his guests.
The scientist trio looked around in amazement and glee as they identified and gawked at the equipment and data available, each of them wondering just how much they could achieve with the data that was now available. Thor just stood there looking at Jane with a fond smile.
"You love her, don't you?" asked Rohith rhetorically.
Thor didn't answer him.
"I...I can't stay here; I need to return to Asguard; I need to return home." replied the prince as he tore his gaze away from the love of his life.
"Then I hope you can confirm a few things about your history before you go. Hey guys! You can have your fun later. Follow me if you want to know the answers to your questions," said Rohith as he walked through a set of restricted doors.
The guests shrugged, followed Rohith deeper into the observatory, and stopped before a set of double doors.
"Before we go in, I want to warn you. What you are about to see will shatter your worldview. So, unless you are absolutely sure, I won't recommend going in there," Rohith advised the scientists among his guests.
Looking at his seriousness, the scientist's made eye contact, having a silent conversation before nodding toward him and giving him their answers.
Rohith took a deep breath and opened the doors. They entered a large hall filled with various pieces of Nordic art/literature or pictures of said literature scattered all over the place with notes and multi-colored strings connecting multiple events like a giant vector map.
But what stood out were a few gigantic slabs of stone covered in curtains and a pedestal holding something covered by silk cloth.
"Welcome to my detective cave. Where I solve cases a few millennia old," announced Rohith with a chuckle.
"As cool as it is, why are we here?" asked Jane.
"Two months ago, there was a large anomaly in weather over New Mexico that seriously messed with earth's magnetic field..." when Rohith said this, his guests tensed up.
"...but it didn't just occur in Mexico; there was a smaller anomaly that occurred right here, depositing this..." said Rohith as he removed the silk cloth covering the pedestal revealing Mjölnir in all its glory. Its surface- polished and the straps- cleaned, looking as if it had come fresh from the forges of Nidavellir.
"Hammer!!!" exclaimed Thor as he rushed towards it only to be stopped by a translucent gray cube that appeared around Mjölnir, and a storm started brewing outside the observatory.
Thor turned towards Rohith and charged at him only to find himself on his back facing the ceiling with the man looking down on him. Thor struggled to move but found himself unable to do so.
"Do you even know what it means to wield Mjölnir, prince?" asked Rohith calmly.
"It's my birthright! My power! You will not keep me away from it, mortal! I will kill you!" screamed Thor, much to the shock of his companions.
Rohith chuckled and summoned a mouth gag and gaged Thor.
"Since you don't know, let me show you," said Rohith as he lifted Thor with his limbs in translucent gray cubes and stretched out to form a cross. His other guests kept their silence with a mixture of fear and curiosity.
"Before now, Mjölnir has appeared on the planet thrice," said Rohith as he walked towards the most oversized stone slabs.
"...First, approximately a million years ago, in the hands of a protector," said Rohith as he removed the curtain covering it to show a well-preserved statue of 7 individuals, which consisted of 2 women and four men, and one demon. Thor could recognize the Asgardian design on one of them that healed a hammer and a chalice.
"...Second, around 5000 years ago, in the hands of an insane conqueror," said Rohith as he took off the curtain covering another stone slab, depicting Hela's journey from Odin's most trusted general in his conquest to Odin banishing her for seeking war.
"...Third, approximately 3000 years ago, in the hands of a man child with too much power," said Rohith as he removed the curtain covering the final stone slab, which contained a statue of Thor that looked like him.
"So...Odinson, before I let you even touch Mjölnir..." summons Mjölnir to himself, shocking everyone "...I need to know who you are," said Rohith as he released Thor.
"Ho...How?" stammered Thor as he looked at Rohith.
"...Do you perhaps not know of the enchantment on Mjölnir?" asked Rohith, genuinely surprised.
Thor shook his head, causing Rohith to shake his head and run his finger on the symbol enchanted symbol on Mjölnir, causing Odin's voice to replay the enchantment. Stunning everyone.
"So anyone who lifts it gets the power of Thor? So are you Thor? " asked Darcy sounding excited.
"Darcy!" hissed Jane eyeing Thor, who looked like he lost...everything he did.
"What? I am curious," said Darcy defending herself.
Rohith chuckled, getting everyone's attention.
"While I am worthy, I am not 'Thor.' I rejected the power; I am only able to summon and control Mjölnir because I polished and cleaned it." explained Rohith as he walked and placed Mjölnir back on the pedestal.
"Wait, what? Is it sentient?" asked Jane.
"Oh it is, Mjölnir is sentient. It just can't talk and doesn't like to move much," confirmed Rohith as the hammer vibrated, shaking the floor as if to ensure what was just said once again shocked everyone.
"I need a drink," said Selvig breaking the silence,
"And I know just the place; you guys coming?" asked Rohith as he walked towards the door, followed by Selvig and Darcy.
"What about you, Dr.Foster?" asked Rohith.
Jane looked at him and Thor, who was frozen.
"Can you pick us up later?" asked Jane, still looking at Thor.
Rohith smiled, hearing her, and tossed her a phone.
"When you are ready to leave, dial 'Me(Business)' on it; the password is ****. Oh, and Odinson..." said Rohith as he handed Jane his spare phone.
Thor turned towards Rohith.
"I am not sorry about the way I acted. You need to know what it means to wield Mjölnir and the consequence of abusing power..." Rohith paused and took a deep breath " Look through my notes, learn from your predecessors, reflect on your past actions, and grow," finished Rohith.
"I will see you both in a few hours," said Rohith as he left the room with the other guests.
After the trio left, Jane was standing there looking at Thor awkwardly, and Thor was doing the same this continued for a few moments until Darcy came running back in and Ignored the two awkward lovers? And went straight for Mjölnir and tried to lift it only to find it impossible.
"Darcy!" glared Jane.
"Sorry, I just wanted to know," said Darcy as she ran out the way she came in.
"Sorry about her," apologized Jane to Thor, who looked at Mjölnir with doubt, confusion, and longing.
"It's fine," answered Thor distractedly.
"Do you want to try and lift it?" asked Jane softly, which seemed to break him out of his stupor.
"I...I don't know, am I even worthy enough to lift Mjölnir?" asked Thor as his hands balled into fists and numerous questions started to plague his mind.
"Hey, it's okay we... you will figure this out," said Jane reassuringly as she placed her hand over his fist.
Thor smiled, held her hand as if to gain courage, and walked towards Mjölnir while holding Jane's hand.
As Thor neared Mjölnir, the storm outside got worse. Thor let go of Jane's hand, held Mjölnir's handle with his hands, and tried lifting it, wishing for his power back.
Mjölnir did not bulge. Thor tried desperately to the point his palms started bleeding. Jane seeing Thor hurt himself, hugged him from behind and pulled him away from Mjölnir. They both fell to the floor.
Thor, who at this point felt he had lost everything, started sobbing with Jane doing her best to calm him down.
A few minutes later.
"Sorry, you had to see that," said Thor as he cooled down a little.
"Don't worry about it; we all need a shoulder to cry on sometimes," said Jane with a smile as she looked at him.
Both found themselves with their back to the stone slab with the statues of the seven warriors on it.
"So... what now?" asked Jane.
"I honestly don't know," replied Thor.
"How about we look through his notes?" suggested Jane looking around.
Thor also looked around, lingering at the slab depicting Hela's journey.
"Yeah, Let's start with that one," said Thor pointing at the slab, to which Jane nodded, and the duo got to work.
A few hours later.
"I HAVE A SISTER!?" yelled Thor as he looked between the notes and the stone slab.
"Apparently," muttered Jane, surprised by his outburst.
Thor stood and started moving towards the door, only to stop when Jane held his arm.
"Where are you going?" asked Jane in a started tone.
"To the only person who can give me answers to all this," said Thor as he waved his hand at the stone slabs.
"Do you know where he lives? Or where he is currently?" asked Jane in a scolding tone causing Thor to stare at her foolishly.
Jane sighed and took out the spare phone and dialed Rohit's number.
"Hi, It's Jane."
'...'
"No, not yet. Thor was about to run out to find you. He needs answers about his sister",
'...'
"Okay, sure, see you in a few minutes," said Jane as the call ended.
"What did he say?" asked Thor.
"He asked us to wait at the entrance. Said he will pick us up there," replied Jane.
"Let's go," said Thor as he held her hand and pretty much dragged her out.
As the couple left the room, a man materialized and walked over to the notes strewn across the floor. He was about 6" 2', and he wore a black suit with a black shirt and tie of the same color. He had black shoulder-length hair and pale white skin.
His blue-green eyes went over every observation/theory written in the note with excruciating detail and then cross-verified it with the available art pieces and tales he had heard among the older citizens of Asguard in one of his many escapades.
A few hours later.
A burst of booming laughter was heard from the hall, slowly dying to a self-deprecating chuckle.
Loki, who had learned of his true parentage around two months ago, wanted to prove to himself that he was an Asgardian, not a Jotun.
The simplest and easiest method to prove that was to prove that he was worthy of Mjölnir. Failing that, he had an overly complicated plan that would end the frost giants forever and leave him the hero of Asguard.
But the new information made him realize something. The Throne of Asgard was never his nor his brother's; by all accounts and purpose, it belonged to his sister, another child of Odin driven to madness by his foolishness.
It was knowing that Loki felt both liberated and saddened.
Loki realized that before he did anything, he needed to confirm a few things and get the whole picture of the true nature of his 'sister,' and he knew just the person to obtain it from.
Loki got up and decided to leave. He didn't bother trying to lift Mjölnir. He knew he was not worthy of that power.
Loki stopped as he exited the room and looked at everything in the hall. His hands glowed green as he cast a spell and left for Asguard.
A few moments after Loki left, a massive explosion occurred in the hall, destroying most of the things within the hall.
After the explosion died, Rohith appeared in front of the rubble that was a part of Divya Drishti and summoned Mjölnir and checked it for any imperfections even though he knew there would be none.
After Rohith was satisfied with checking Mjölnir, he tied Mjölnir to his belt and looked at the rubble.
"I am going to punch him in the face" Rohith promised himself and disappeared in a burst of purple particles.
