A name

Ahmad's soul and the little one fused becoming an even larger one with a stronger and larger veil.

The souls of two different individuals joined to form one with each overriding the distinctness of the other, this was unheard of.

....

" The child is coming, I need you to put in a little more effort." Said the attending physician.

In a little wooden room, A woman laid on the bed, her legs were wide apart as she groaned in pain and struggle. Sweat beads were over her and her loose outfit was soaked.

" Just a little more." The village physician said with his hands in her birth opening aiding with the delivery of the baby.

" Push"

Next came a cry, the baby had come out. His little eyes came open observing the new environment he had been thrown into, it certainly wasn't as warm neither as accommodating as his previous but it'll do. The surrounding didn't look to appeal him however and he went asleep.

" It's a baby boy Mrs Gulland."

" Bring him to me." She whispered, energy devoid in her voice.

The little boy was placed in the arms of his now weakened mother. She stared at her boy, love and affection in her eyes as she brought him to her chest warming him.

His eyes came open and next came a wail.

" Why is he crying?"

" Breastfeed him."

She whipped up her breasts and gave them to him to suckle.

" He's so full of energy. I'll inform the lord." The physician said with a bow and walked backwards till he approached the door and leave.

He walked through the passageway until he got to a room with a somewhat transparent door.

" The gods have blessed you with a boy, an energetic one just like you." The Physician said in a bow, his face on the ground.

" Nal.."

The door came open and from it came Dilon Gulland, once the mighty leader of the Gulland Institute. To many, the arrival of a new child is a news of joy but Dilon had no look of joy on his face, only that of contempt.

The guilt from seventy years ago, when the institute was charred by a lesser god still weighed his heart, it reflected in everything about him.

He had long white hair tied to a ponytail, his eyes were of silver color and they looked to be as sharp as that of the Wyrm eagle, a mighty bird that can sight its prey even kilometers away. His face was losing to age but he still looked better than many in his age, cultivation had blessed him with quite the looks. He had a little circle beard. On him were silverish robes, quite exquisite ones for a mere village head.

" Thank you Nal." He said, he turned to meet a figure standing by a room entrance.

" Narwind, You have got a little brother." He said to the figure that had just as much indifference as he did. The person nodded their head and went into their room.

The two walked their way to meet the little boy.

The door was pushed violently and Dilon entered. He met his wife pale and weak with a child in her arms. She looked to want to speak but there wasn't strength in her voice.

" What's this Nal?!" He yelled.

" It took her quite a lot of energy to give birth to the boy."

" Will she be okay?"

" I believe she will."

" Hmmm..... that'll do."

Dilon walked to her, he brush his hand over her forehead in an affectionate manner.

" You did well Suyin." He commented and took the child to himself.

" No.." She struggled to say.

" I must..." He turned away from her with the child.

" Let's see if you're truly my child, if you're destined to live."

Tears poured from the eyes of Suyin over what Dilon was about to do, Nal turned away. It was truly vile.

Ki surged through his arm to his hand, a blue glow was evident.

He placed his hand on the torso of the newborn releasing a very weak pulse of ki into him. He did it continuously for about twenty seconds when he retracted his hand.

" This is...."

Nal eyes widened....

" He's in one piece." He muttered.

" Indeed, he's unaffected, his soul is strong, stronger than Narwind and Suri when they were newborns."

What Dilon performed was known only by the elites and it was deemed a forbidden technique as the toll of it was too high. It was coined the "first flood of death" over its notoriety. It involves sending a pulse of ki directly to the temple of a newborn where the Soul resides and where Ki is concentrated to forcibly increase the level of ki the child wields and to promote their growth in Cultivation exponentially.

That was what ought to happen except in most cases, the ki reserve of the newborn is too little and too weak to accommodate more and the ki is redirected to the soul where the pulse breaks through the veil protecting it and harms it causing it to be unstable which in turn leads to the frail body to explode in response. The body could neither accommodate the excess ki nor the growth in the soul.

" My child." Suyin muttered stretching forward her arms in a bid to have her child brought to her.

Dilon recognized this and brought the sleeping boy to her.

" He lives yet another day. Give him a name, he'll need it. "

" His name is Seyus. Seyus Gulland."
