Chapter 73

Standing on the apartment building roof, a figure was standing towards the morning sun. Leonardo looked out at the bustling city as he let out a breath on the cold morning. While a frown overcame his features as he looked far beyond the city

What he was looking at was in the direction of Smallville or more specifically. It was Clark who was being kidnapped by Lana Lang. Dressed in a leather cat outfit as she stuffed a weakened Clark into her trunk. She headed off to her living quarters while licking her lips that had Clark's blood lingering.

Tapping his finger on his arm, Leonardo just watched. If Clark can't solve the mess he is in. Then he will solve it, which just made him sigh. Since Clark seems to have bad luck at times, for Lana got lucky when she attacked Clark who was a bit weakened due to Lex showing him a cure.

Luckily, Clark managed to solve the issue after laying in front of a fireplace. He managed to stick the long needle into the Lana chest and dispersed the cure. Thus making Lana faint, while he let out a breath of relief before dealing with the rest of rabid fake vampires.

Seeing that Clark dealt with his issue by himself. Leonardo shifted his gaze to another city where he saw a man in batsuit retiring for the day. Where he didn't see where the man was making much of a difference despite being called a hero. Besides taking care of villains that the police might be unable to take down, he just usually beat up low level thugs on the streets.

Shaking his head, Gotham was such a weird city. While he whimsy thought of going there to arrest others. However, the police station probably just writes down the crime and tosses them back out into the street. Which will just raise the criminal activity and earn him a bunch of assassination attempts and Batman trying to kick him out of the city.

So in the end, he just tossed aside the issue. He didn't want to be annoyed by petty criminals and Batman who would feel his territory being stepped on. If he was sent there so be it, but it is not among the places he would choose to go there to work.

After all, Gotham is really not a good place to go and the man who wants to protect it is too paranoid. If someone shows up and appears to try and change the city for the better. Bruce Wayne will do a full background check and nitpick it until he sees the darkness he wants. Then either Bruce Wayne the playboy billionaire or Batman will come for a visit.

Hence, Leonardo could only sigh a bit at this. After all, Batman who wants to save his city basically sides with criminals in this regard. Thus a vicious cycle is born where only Batman and his teen squad are considered heroes running around beating thugs up.

It's not only Gotham that is like this, but as more heroes wannabe begin to pop up. A few are more extreme in their approach than others. Such a situation isn't becoming uncommon across the states or even the world.

The world is hitting a chaotic period as heroes are popping up all over and disturbing the order and interest of those in power. Since like the police, not all those in power are good people. From having backroom deals with gangs to drug lords, or business tycoons, these novice heroes are stepping on a lot of powerful men's toes.

'How can this issue be resolved without stepping on each other's toes too much.' Leonardo thought to himself.

The world needs order such as firefighters to fight fires, police to maintain order and uphold the law, and doctors to cure illness. However as heroes appear, civilians might not feel that way and some heroes might too. Yet, he also knew there are going to be villains or natural disasters that the normal or average person can't face.

Not even many of these heroes that will pop up in a while are able to deal with them. Yet, Leonardo didn't want to create levels of heroes since he knew some ambitious ones would come out of the woodwork. Which will either create a crisis to try and promote themselves or jump head first into one they aren't prepared for.

As for the thought of not caring, it didn't cross Leonardo's mind. Since by some chance he is discovered as an ability user. He didn't want to play cat and mouse with the government who would want to either turn him into a spy or lock him up.

Then as for a thought of going to another planet. Well, he didn't know of any planets currently that weren't occupied by advanced civilizations. Since most often the civilization that hasn't entered space expansion is usually off the grid or protected by the Lantern corps. On top of that most planets didn't contain the ability to substance life or well his needs to substance life.

"Leo? What are you doing in the cold for so long?" Aurora's voice asked from behind.

"Just thinking." Leonardo replied.

"Why don't you come inside to warm up." Aurora suggested. "Surely, the problem isn't too big that you need to risk catching a cold standing out here."

"It's not a big problem, just one without an answer." Leonardo said as he wrapped his arm with hers and walked inside.

Time passed by fairly quickly and Leonardo found it time to graduate from the Police Academy. He naturally of course was top of the class with Nolan right behind him. Thanks to the extra effort, Nolan had a few actual stations that would accept him. While, Leonardo found he was being sent to Gotham.

It seems that Gotham Station is in need of an excellent person to crack down on the crime rate. So Leonardo's original destination that originally was closer to the West Coast is now closer to the East Coast. Which just made him sigh, as he remembered thinking of not wanting to go to Gotham a while ago.

Sadly, it seems that the Police Commissioner James Gordon had called in a favor to request a top quality man to help solve crime in Gotham. So as his former would-be boss, not wanting to give up one of his own, decided to send the freshly joining kid who already has the ability to crack a twenty year old cold case.

"Well, at least the time to get to Smallville is smaller and cheaper." Aurora joked. "Now you don't need to spend so much to help Clark with whatever he has going on."

"Clark is able to deal with most of his issues himself. Sometimes at inconvenient times he isn't able to. Now especially he is dating Lana." Leonardo sighed.

"The same Lana you really don't like." Aurora asked.

"She is better now, but I imagine soon they will break up." Leonardo said.

Clark is unable to tell her his secret despite dating for a few months now. So while not as pushy as she used to be. The two were beginning to bicker quite a bit with Clark either running to him or Chloe to complain. Since most of the time, Clark is like a wounded puppy since Lana will hit his sore spots or put him in uncomfortable situations.

"Are they unable to talk to each other?" Aurora asked.

"The two tend to bend their words or walk around the bush. Clark, while a great guy is very shy on the inside. Hence he doesn't like talking about himself as he is too self-conscious, while Lana wants to open him up and know all the content like a piggy bank." Leonardo said after rubbing his chin for a moment. "Lana doesn't seem to be the one that can accept his weirdness and I think Clark is starting to see that, so he will either break it off or try to deny what makes him…well himself."

"Weirdness?" Aurora asked a while ago.

"Years ago, I told Clark 'most males are weirdos, and finding a woman to accept our weirdness. It just makes the one that does all the more special to us.' Now he is seeing one that doesn't accept his weirdness." Leonardo replied.

He lightly missed those times since Clark was still bumbling around trying to figure out his place among highschool students. When Clark would ask him questions that while big to him weren't in the grand scale of things. Unlike now where Clark will ask about ones that could shake the potential future without a Superman. Though he doesn't miss being stuck inside Clark's body.

"That quote, I am taking it. I don't know where I am going to put it, but I am so going to use it." Aurora laughed.

"Up to you." Leonardo shrugged. "I guess I will look into some apartments in Gotham now. Are you going to move in with me?"

"I don't really want to live in Gotham. However, if you manage to turn around the city, I will open up a branch studio there and live with you. I am just too busy running my studio." Aurora said.
