#One year later#

Daniel and Anya, graduated highschool and went to college. Anya was still staying at Daniel's so they always went together,

even though they chose different majors.

"Hey, I have a car, are you in for a ride girl?

But not in the car though.."

"Ahahahhahahha"

(-Daniel: "the hell?! They can't talk to her like this I gotta do something..")

Daniel suddenly stopped walking and so did Anya

-Anya: "what's wrong? Why'd you stop?"

Daniel was afraid and hesitant because he knew he couldn't take these assholes by himself but he didn't want to stay silent and let them harass Anya

He didn't answer her, he got a rock from the ground and threw it at the guy then shouted

-Daniel: "who do you think you are talking to her like that huh? Did your mother not teach you how to respect others!?"

-Anya: "Daniel you-"

Before they even knew it, the harasser was in front of them and punched Daniel to the face.

"You fucking loser how dare you!!?"

-Daniel: "Anya! I'LL BE OKAY! GO BACK HOME!!"

he shouted while getting beaten up by two dudes,

Anya wasn't planning to leave him alone and run away, but because the third one was going to grab her she did.

She didn't go back home though, she was looking for help, and once she came back with some, the police were already there.

When they got back home after giving their statement, Anya was treating Daniel's wounds

-Anya: "you shouldn't have picked a fight with them."

-Daniel: "it's okay.. that's what Kai would've done.. the only difference is that Kai would've won for sure."

-Anya: "It doesn't matter.. thank you.

But I think we should go to college separately from now on.. I troubled you."

-Daniel: "NO! Don't say that.. we should always stick together.. the last time I saw Kai.. he told me to take care of each other. I didn't know what he was talking about back then but it all makes sense now."

-Anya: "you're right.. whenever I reread my messages with him I realize that he was talking as if he was up to something.. and he was."

-Daniel: "If we only knew what he was planning.."

-Anya: "Danny.. I've been thinking.. it's time for me to move out."

-Daniel: "move out where?"

-Anya: "I will get a part-time job and rent a studio apartment."

-Daniel: "you watch so much anime Anya..

You can't rent a studio apartment with a part-time job.. and even if you had so much money, why not stay with me?"

-Anya: "that's because.. I feel like I overstayed my welcome.. I've been using your room for the last year, and you sleep here on the couch in your own house. Not to mention that you don't have any more privacy.. that's just improper."

Anya was sitting on the sofa while Daniel was sitting opposite her but on the floor with his legs crossed and his hand on his cheek while giving her an innocent clueless stare

-Daniel: "no, I'm fine with all that..

And what's privacy between friends huh?

You're a girl, you're the one who needs privacy and I'm sorry if you don't feel comfortable enough.. but please don't leave me Anya."

-Anya: "you literally don't even enter the room before you knock. How would I not be comfortable?"

-Daniel: "I can't go as far as Kai for my friends but even I can do this much.. it's nothing."

-Anya: ".. but to be honest with you.. I'll probably have to leave once my dad comes back from France."

-Daniel: "it's okay.. you just stay and don't get any second thoughts till then.."

As the months passed, Kai too, tried to adapt to his new life.

He was given the opportunity to pursue degrees while incarcerated.

He also continued to play sports, hang out and goof around, watch TV...

But even doing the same activities didn't feel the same because there was something missing to it.. the feeling of freedom.

He tried to do everything he could to forget where he was, but it rarely worked.

-Kai: "my friend Daniel is very good at cooking, He used to make delicious meals for us all the time."

-Alex: "Really? Why didn't you learn how to cook from him? I'm tired of the repetitive meals prisoners make."

-Kai: "haha! I actually learned a lot of things from him, but I never thought about learning how to cook."

-Alex: "You never get tired of talking about him.. Daniel this Daniel that.."

-Kai: "I miss him.. I miss my girlfriend Anya..

I wonder if she's moved on or is still in love with me.. I wonder if she found someone new,

College life seems to be fun and crowded.

I feel selfish saying this but.. I kinda wish she waits for me.."

Kai intertwined his fingers and put his head down, he was trying to hide how horrible he was feeling.

Alex, the friend he made there noticed it and spoke trying to comfort him

-Alex: "You're already dangerously selfless.. isn't that why you're here?

it's not selfish of you to expect the people you love to keep on loving you back even when you're not there.."

-Kai: "I don't know.. I wonder how's everyone doing.. my mom.. I don't deserve her forgiveness.. because I caused her a lot of pain."

-Alex: "Kai, don't say this.. look at the bright side, You have people out there to go to when you get out of here, and I'm sure they're waiting for you.. even if they're mad at you, they'll eventually forgive you and everything will go back to normal. Just be grateful that you're not stuck here forever like me..

be grateful that one day you'll reunite with your friend, no matter how far that day seems to be.. every coming up is close.. be grateful that you're not one of those who have no one and no place to call home."

-Kai: "you're right.. I really wish you could leave here with me.. I'd take you home and introduce you to my family, you'd become friends with us and see how fun Daniel is.."

-Alex: "I wish.. but we don't always get what we want, do we?"

-Kai: "thank you for everything. If there's anything that I don't wanna leave this place for then it has to be you."

-Alex: "of course not the food because the food here is horrible!"

They both laughed as they were eating the very food they were criticizing, but did they have a choice?
