I rly fail to see his motivation to keep those savegaes near him he has unlimited amount of loyal man that won't run to ur enemy as soon as ure deafed, yet he still keeps them near, while all they can do is pillage and fight, which is the least important things when it comes to creating ur own kingdpm..
it would be logical if villagers were the same as in the game, like silent guys with big noses that only hum and do some jobs that they are assigned. here they are fully human like and takes mc for the god presumably will never betray his as well. while dothrski are guys that kill each other for fun. and they hate magic, so why by this point in time he is not challenged by every fifth of his horde is a question and the fact that he was unmounted from his horse is like a death to a dotraki. their culture has this specific topic about being about to stay in the saddle and if not ,said one to be abandoned, killed or whatever, but definitely not being esteemed leader that everyone fearsfears. it's just doesn't make sense since any experienced fighter can tell as much as he is a noob at fight and while also WEARING armour he is fight foes while being a dotraki, that DON'T wear armor since it is an indication of being a little girl and weak.
Nightsking:Well maybe he just likes them not everyone wants to do things as efficient as possible that would just turn boring so he is just doing what he thinks is fun and he was more thrown into the position and just kept it as he liked it. So yeah the smart thing to do is only keep villagers, but that is just not the preference of the MC and the author(I think), which I understand.
