Ayato Shikigami is an average 16-year-old otaku, who spends his days watching anime and playing RPG. Reality had often failed him as he finds it so boring and dry, he found a way, a way he could escape reality by watching animes but even that was temporary. One faithful day, when he was watching a scene from his favorite anime Aot, the scenes captivated him so much that he couldn't help but wish he was a part of the drama. After he wishes to be in the titan world, he found himself in the mist of a battle, where the human went to war with the titan. During the chaos, he finds out he got the ability to transform into a titan and learn a mysterious power for those he got in contact with. Using this and his knowledge, he vowed to change the history of the story, save the eldains empire, and make sure Eren never goes rogue. Note: This is my first fanfic! so don't expect something too extravagant, there will be mistakes here and there.

The scouts? I'm so confused!

*FLASHBACK*

After the incident at Trost, a lot of soldiers lost their lives to the titans, some were eaten halfway through.

Among them was the squad's comrade, Marco, he was the unfortunate being that got killed by Annie's blade.

The city female helpers were counting and writing down the names of those of the dead they could make out, so as to pay their respect to their families.

"Young man, do you know…?" She paused after seeing the frightened look on jeans face.

He dropped his blade, looking at Marco's severed head on the ground. It's the third day already so it has gotten completely rotten.

"Marco? How did you?" Jean couldn't make out a word from his mouth.

"Please sir, can you answer the question? There's no time for weeping over the dead" The woman said.

"What did you say?" Jean turned his face to her, anger written all over, at that point all he could think of was how something so heartless could come out of her mouth.

He moves close to her, holding her arm, almost like he wanted to strangle her.

"I understand how you feel, but the more time we waste the higher the risk of some kind of disease spreading throughout the town, and that would just add to our list of problems," She said with a calm look on her face.

He let go of her before giving out a heavy sigh, "Marco…." he said as he watched his comrade's head getting feasted on by flies.

"Thank you".

. . . . . . . .

It was the night of the farewell when the soldiers gathered the bodies of their fallen comrades and burned them to give them a resting soul.

"I don't want to see a titan, ever again," Connie said, as he stood in front of the fire watching the bodies burn.

"Me too" Tears rolled down Sasha's eyes.

Jean saw the way everybody's hopes were down, none wanted to go near the battlefield ever again and he couldn't blame them.

The horrors they saw might haunt most of them for as long as they live.

Of course, he also hated those titans, but the fact that his comrade was killed by them, didn't let him chicken out.

"All I wanted was to get a place in the mp, beside the royal family, maybe get close to Historia" He laughed, but they could still see the sadness written all over his face.

He went to his knees picking one of the bones that were on the floor, "I don't even know whose bone this is," Jean got up and threw it straight into the fire.

"Hey, guys! I've made my decision, I'm joining the scouts" Jean said, looking at Mikasa who sat at a far distance from the fire.

"What? You always wanted to be" Connie was interrupted by his outburst.

"Not after what we've seen, come on, you saw too, didn't you? Your comrade got eaten right in front of you, of course, I'm not a suicidal dumbass like Eren.

But if I have the chance to cut a titan down knowing full well what that has done, I think I can die knowing I did accomplish something, I'm joining the scouts" Jean said, even his voice was shaking but his will was hard as a rock.

. . . . . . . .

*Present day*

"Hey, Annie? Which regiment do you wanna join" Connie asked?

"I'm sticking with the mp," Annie replied.

"You're so strong, I thought it was scouts for sure, what about you Armin?"

"Me? I'm joining the scouts"

"What? You too" Connie was surprised, Armin was the last person he thought would join the scouts.

"I didn't peg you for the kill to survive type," Annie said, with her eyes still fixated on the front.

"I want to help my friends any way I can, it's the least I can do," Armin said, "And besides, I still want to know more about what Ayato told me," He thought to himself.

"If you were ordered to die, would you die?" Annie asked.

"I think I will, if it will lead to a better cause, then my life is a small price to pay, '' Armin replied.

"Uhn.. okay then"

"I think you care more than you let people see, you are actually a nice person," Armin said.

"You couldn't be more wrong, I just want to live" They finished inspecting her gear so she left.

The night after the search, Commander Erwin called out the cadets, saying they needed more soldiers on the battlefield for his mission, and it was time for the cadets to pick their regiments.

Commander Erwin stood on the stage, with his officers at his back, looking at the cadets as they stood still to hear what he had to say.

"Good evening, I'm Erwin Smith, commander of the survey corps also known as the scout's regiment.

Today you get to choose the path you have so ideally trained for, let's cut to the chase.

The scouts need you, after the recent attack, you now know the horrors they bring and the limits of your own skill" He paused looking at the eyes of the cadets.

"However, the battle aftermath gave humans a glimpse of hope, I refer to the cadet Eren Yeager and the citizen Ayato Shikigami.

After selflessly losing both lives and limbs, they have proven without a doubt their unweaving loyalty to our cause, hope lives in them!" He yelled.

"The battle route we've spent the last four years establishing is a waste now, over those four years, we've lost 60% of our men, 60%! That's a terrifying number."

"One month from now, we'll be scouting outside the walls, recruits from your rank will take part in it"

The cadets gasped, wondering how they could survive if they did choose to stay as a scout.

"I know they are desperate for recruits, but going out in public with this is dangerous, is this some kind of ploy? the problem is if he has made that the hook, who does he instead to catch" Armin thought to himself, looking at commander Erwin who had his eyes on all the cadets.

"That is all, those who wish to join stay behind, the rest can leave"

Without a second thought, most of the cadets left their Lane and headed back to their campus.

"You have got to be kidding me," Jean thought to himself.
