I rose up from bed sweating and panting.
That was a weird dream. Choose? What was the other option? I couldn't hear it and who was it that gave me that ultimatum? I couldn't make out the face, I can't even tell if the voice was male or female, it sounded so neutral.
And what exactly did I choose??
If I would have known, that this dream was foreboding the future ,I would have paid more attention to it. Maybe things would have turned out for the better...
Many thoughts and questions flit through my head while I checked my phone for the time. 4:19am. Still too early to start the day, but too late to go back to sleep, as I had to get up at 5 for school. I lay back down and stared at the ceiling. My cat noticed me and walked up towards my chest to snuggle up on it.
I started petting and stroking his head, while gliding my fingers through his long fluffy fur coat.
"Morning Nox. Did you sleep well?"
"Meow"
I smiled, we always talked ,no matter what day or time it was. I feet like he actually really understands me when I talked to him. He always replies to me and whenever I would feel down, he noticed first and came to cheer me up. He was my whole world, if something like soulmates existed, then im sure that he was mine.
I still remember the day we met. I was looking for a cat to adopt, since shelters didn't want to offer me one, I looked online. After all, there were more than enough cats out there who were looking for a forever home, and I planned to give just that. I saw this one post about him looking for a new home. It was love at first sight. His owner claimed she got allergic, so she had to give him away urgently. We arranged a time for the next day and I took him in. At first he was shy and wouldn't come out for the first six hours but then he got curious after it got dark outside and came out to explore the place. We instantly warmed to each other and it didn't take long for him to get really attached to me, to the point where he got attachment issues. Well it was cute in my opinion, also pets resemble their owners right? I had heard of that at least and I'm not surprised he's more similar to me than my own reflection.
"Meooooooow"
I randomly got thrown out of my reverie when he started staring at me.
"You are hungry aren't you? Alright lets get you fed"
I got up and Nox jumped from my chest, running straight towards the kitchen.
I followed suit, once I arrived at the kitchen, I picked up his bowl and thoroughly cleaned it in the sink from the rest of his evening meal. Nox rubbed himself against my legs ,meowing none stop which I interpreted as a chain of sugarcoating compliments like usual.
I opened the cupboard and filled his bowl with some wet food and placed it in his feeding area.
After that I left the kitchen and made my way to the bathroom. A shower would refresh me now. Undressing myself from my nightgown and entering the shower, I turned on the luke warm water and closed my eyes, as I enjoyed the feeling of each drop falling on my face. Thoroughly cleaning both my body and hair, I then turned the water off and stepped out of the shower. I kept it quick like usual, after all water costs spiked recently and I didn't have the funds to afford a long shower.
I got dressed and styled my hair in the damp mirror.
Weird...I could have sworn, that I saw a bunny plush staring at me just now... probably just my imagination... Lack of sleep got the better of me I guess...
I went back to my room to pack my stuff and checked my phone again for todays schedule.
College, gym, doctors appointment, that was about all for today.
I know for now it all sounds really boring from what you have heard, right?! That's what I thought too. I thought it's gonna be a normal boring day in my shitty life once again...
Little did I know, what the future held for me and how much pain and suffering would strike me....
