fantasy bedtime stories

Some bedtime fantasy stories that are great include 'A Wrinkle in Time'. Meg travels through different dimensions to rescue her father with the help of some strange and powerful beings. 'The Secret Garden' is also a kind of fantasy story. Mary discovers a locked - up garden and brings it back to life with the help of her new friends. It has elements of magic in the way the garden heals and transforms those around it. 'Ella Enchanted' is a story about a girl who has been given the 'gift' of obedience, but she tries to break free from this curse and has many adventures along the way.

Good fantasy bedtime stories typically have a dreamy quality. They transport you to another world that feels both real and unreal at the same time. The language used is often descriptive yet simple. For example, in 'The Wind in the Willows', the descriptions of the riverbank make you feel like you're there. They also often have a sense of hope or a happy ending, which leaves you with a positive feeling as you drift off to sleep.

You can start with a unique setting, like a magical forest filled with talking animals. Then, create a main character, perhaps a brave little girl or boy. Add some challenges for the character to overcome, like finding a lost magical key. And don't forget to end the story with a happy ending, such as the character saving the forest and making new friends among the animals.

Bedtime fantasy stories can stimulate children's imagination. When they listen to tales of magical worlds, strange creatures, and heroic deeds, their minds start to create vivid pictures. For example, in 'The Lord of the Rings' - like stories, kids can imagine themselves as brave warriors or wizards. It also helps them relax. After a busy day, a good fantasy story can calm them down and get them ready for sleep.

It helps to develop their imagination. Children can visualize the magical worlds and characters in the stories, which expands their creative thinking.

Some of the best kids fantasy short stories for bedtime are from the 'Fairy Tales' by Hans Christian Andersen. Stories like 'The Ugly Duckling' teach important lessons in a fantasy setting. 'Thumbelina' is also a great one, as it follows the tiny girl's adventures in a big world. And then there's 'The Red Shoes', which has a bit of a cautionary tale aspect but is still very engaging for kids.
