What are the characteristics of indie science fiction books?
A characteristic is that they can be more niche - focused. They might target a specific group of sci - fi fans who are interested in certain sub - genres like bio - punk or space opera with a very different spin. Also, indie sci - fi books sometimes have a more personal touch. The author's individual vision and passion are more evident compared to some mass - market books. Is there a market for science fiction novels?
Science fiction has a wide readership around the world because science fiction usually explored the future, technology, and human destiny as the theme to stimulate people's curiosity and imagination. The demand for science fiction novels was also growing. Some science fiction novels had been adapted into movies, TV series, games, and other media forms to gain a wide audience and good reviews. In addition, some science fiction novels were widely translated into many languages and distributed worldwide, which also brought more market opportunities for science fiction novels. Of course, the market for science fiction also needed to take into account the needs and preferences of different countries and cultures. Therefore, creators needed to pay attention to localizing their works and adapting to the tastes of local readers in order to gain wider recognition and success.

Well, 'Snow Crash' by Neal Stephenson is a great small market science - fiction. It's set in a future where the Metaverse exists, and it combines elements of cyberpunk, linguistics, and post - apocalyptic themes. Also, 'Altered Carbon' by Richard K. Morgan is a good pick. It has interesting concepts about consciousness transfer and a gritty, noir - like setting which might not have been in the mainstream spotlight from the start.
