Luffy and Nami had a unique and deep relationship in One Piece. From Luffy's perspective, he doted on Nami. Luffy treated Nami as an important partner. This kind of relationship went beyond ordinary friendship and was almost like a family member. For example, when Nami was sick, Luffy tried his best to make her happy, and in order to save Nami, he did not hesitate to kowtow and apologize, even at the expense of frostbite all over his body. When he learned that Nami had been kidnapped by the Golden Lion Shiki, Luffy did not hesitate to lead the Grass Hat Pirates to rescue her. Moreover, Luffy had shown his trust in Nami at many critical moments. He recognized Nami's sailing ability and was willing to hand over the navigation of the ship to her. On the other hand, Nami trusted Luffy. Even though Nami was often very " fierce " to Luffy, this was also a reflection of their unique relationship. Nami trusted Luffy unconditionally. When Luffy was in trouble, the first person she thought of was Luffy. When Luffy lost his loved ones, Nami cried for him and wanted to be by his side. Luffy allowed Nami to truly start living with a smile and understand her better than anyone else. There were many other reasons for their deep relationship. During their interactions, Luffy's innocence and forgetfulness would occasionally annoy Nami, such as when Luffy mistook Nami for someone else on Sky Island, but that didn't affect their overall relationship. Luffy's behavior of not caring about Nami's feelings, such as jumping down from a high altitude with Nami, giving her treasures to others without her consent, and fighting with her for the captain's position, caused Nami to teach Luffy a lesson, but this was also part of their daily relationship. Luffy saved Nami, who was oppressed by Ah Long. From then on, Nami regarded Luffy as the most reliable person. In short, their relationship was a partnership of trust, mutual dependence, and kinship.

In One Piece's story setting, Luffy and Nami were partners, and there was no scene of Luffy hitting Nami. On the contrary, Luffy was very concerned about Nami. For example, when Nami was sick, Luffy tried his best to make her happy. He did not hesitate to kowtow and apologize to save her, even at the expense of getting frostbite all over his body. Nami would sometimes beat Luffy up, mostly because some of Luffy's actions angered Nami. For example, Luffy forgot to recognize the wrong person, suddenly scared Nami, jumped from a high altitude with Nami without considering her feelings, gave others treasures without consent, and fought with Nami for the captain's position.

In One Piece, Nami beat up Luffy mainly to create a funny atmosphere. Although Luffy was a rubber man, before the domineering setting appeared, shield attacks were useless against him, and sharp blade attacks could hurt him. However, situations like Nami beating Luffy had nothing to do with logic and settings. Nami was stronger in the team and would beat up the three main forces of the Grass Hat Team, including Luffy. Furthermore, in some scenes, Luffy did not play by the rules (such as directly jumping down from a waterfall), Nami did not like him as the new Four Emperors, so she beat his face until it was swollen and locked him in a small black room. Even if Shen Ping begged for mercy, it was useless. Nami could even explode with shocking domineering colors.
