In the common immortal cultivation realm setting, there was no such thing as reaching 100 realms. However, different systems had different levels of cultivation.

In traditional cultivation novels, the realms were divided into four major realms: refining qi into qi, refining qi into spirit, refining spirit into void, and refining void into Dao. After that, one would complete karma and Dao to become a saint. After cultivating the fruit of Primordial Origin Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal Dao, one would become extraordinary and immortal. One would not be destroyed by myriad tribulations, be free from karma, be omniscient, and omnipotent. As long as the Heavenly Dao was not destroyed, the saint would not die. Among them, the minor realms in the cultivation process included Foundation Establishment, Enlightenment, Fusion, Heartbeat, Golden Core, Nascent Soul, Leaving Body, Soul Clone, Body Integration, Dongxu, Mahayana, Tribulation Transcendence, and so on. Only when one reached the Golden Core Stage could one be considered a true cultivator and could fly on a sword. After reaching the Nascent Soul Stage, one would have endless lifespan and could cultivate the Purple Mansion Nascent Soul. Their souls would not be destroyed and they could change their appearance and body shape. In the Leaving Body Stage, one could leave their primordial spirit and travel outside the world. In the Soul Clone Stage, one could divide their divine sense into many parts and use them at the same time. In the Form Synthesis Stage, the Nascent Soul and the body become one. Once they are completely integrated, they can teleport and enter the Mahayana Stage. When they reach the Mahayana Stage, their bodies will be indestructible and their divine bodies will be pure. They will consolidate their cultivation and accumulate strength to prepare for the tribulation. In the Tribulation Passing Stage, they will be tested by the tribulation and successfully enter the Immortal World. A few who fail to pass the tribulation will become Individual Immortals (Earth Immortals). They will need to pass the tribulation nine times before they can ascend to the Immortal World.

There was also another division of immortal cultivation realms, which included Individual Immortal, True Immortal, Taiyi Individual Immortal, Taiyi True Immortal, Taiyi Black Immortal, Taiyi Golden Immortal, Sage-to-be (Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal), Sage (Primordial Chaos Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal), etc. Each stage was divided into early, middle, and late stages. There was no distinction after the Great Ascension Stage.
