Daoyin Technique was a long-standing and effective method of preserving one's health. From its origin, it originated from the "big dance" in ancient times. It imitated the movements of reptiles and birds to strengthen the body and prolong life. From the perspective of development, the earliest existing guidance diagram in the world was found in the silk paintings unearthed from the Han Tomb of Mawangdui in Changsha from 1972 to 1974. There were 44 guidance diagrams of various figures painted on the upper and lower layers. The surgical methods were mostly bare-handed except for individual figures performing mechanical movements. The names of the surgical methods were noted beside the pictures, and some of the words were distinguishable. It also involved a variety of animal forms. During the Three Kingdoms period, Hua Tuo classified the daoyin technique as the Five Animal Play. Although the original version had been lost, it had been passed down to this day after being sorted out by later generations. Different Daoyin techniques had different characteristics and effects. For example, the Mawangdui Daoyin Technique was categorized into three series of 32 movements, which were easy to learn and practice, and had a strong focus on medical fitness. The Daoyin Technique in Peng Zu's health preservation method was completely coordinated with the " Xingqi Inscription." The six types of Qi-circulation Daoyin had detailed steps and corresponding effects from breathing to body movements. When practicing the Thirteen Forms of Daoism, one needed to relax the whole body, penetrate the joints, and breathe softly and slowly. In short, the Daoyin Technique combined breathing exercises and body movements. It was similar to modern health exercises. Long-term practice could strengthen one's physique, improve one's immunity, and prolong one's life. It was indeed a very powerful method of health preservation.

Chinese medicine daoyin technique was a traditional method of health preservation and physical therapy that focused on both body and mind, internal and external cultivation, balancing qi and blood, preventing and treating diseases, and prolonging life. It was a combination of three major techniques: body movement, breathing exercise, and self-massage. In ancient times, the ancestors used dancing to shake their bones and limbs to prevent and treat diseases. Later, with the development of medicine, Daoyin was integrated into mainstream medicine. For example,"Five Animal Frolics","Six Words Formula","Eight-Duan Brocade", etc. were all Daoyin techniques. From the content of the operation, it included adjusting the body, adjusting the breath, and adjusting the heart (referred to as the "three adjustments"). Body adjustment was to adjust the body state to match the realm required by the Daoyin technique; breath adjustment was to adjust the breathing movement, which could nurture and guide the internal energy; heart adjustment was to adjust the mental state, turning the consciousness activity inward to enter a specific cultivation state. Modern medical research had found that adjusting the body could relax the bones and muscles and improve the mood; adjusting the breath could massage the internal organs and promote blood circulation; adjusting the heart could rest the cerebral cells and produce a protective effect. The Chinese medicine daoyin technique also had a wide range of applications. In addition to maintaining health, it could also be used for the treatment and rehabilitation of many diseases, anti-aging, intellectual development, and mental health regulation. It was also a natural therapy that did not consume social resources.
There were many types of Daoyin techniques, and it was difficult to count exactly how many there were. There were famous daoyin techniques passed down from ancient times, such as Hua Tuo's Wuqinxi, the Song Dynasty's Baduanjin, and the Ming Dynasty's Yijinjing. There were also some common daoyin techniques in the Orthopedics Department, such as arch-supporting daoyin, knee-hugging daoyin, foot-stepping and crooke-crossing daoyin, elbow-bending and extension daoyin, etc. In addition, there were also traditional daoyin techniques such as shouting, tooth-knocking and swallowing fluid, dry combing, cervical vertebrae daoyin, abdominal breathing, levator ani daoyin exercise, etc. There were also many daoyin methods derived from some movements in the "Daoyin Diagram" and the records in the "Guide Book."

It included many specific Daoyin Qigong methods, such as the Red Pine Seed Daoyin Method. These methods had the effects of health preservation, treatment, and longevity. Different daoyin techniques contained three elements: body adjustment, breath adjustment, and heart adjustment. The combination of the three elements constituted the daoyin realm.

Wudang's Five Elements Daoyin Technique was commonly known as Wudang's Taiyi Five Elements Daoyin Technique. It was a supplementary technique for Wudang's alchemy. It was an important example of Wudang's alchemy method to guide qi through the body. This cultivation method mainly strengthened the functions of the five internal organs through body movements, providing necessary help for internal refinement. It was a better cultivation method at the stage of repairing walls and repairing houses. The general song is: Yuxu Palace inside the guide work, inside the five internal organs to guide the five elements. The Taixu Immortal Ascension stood in the void, relaxing his body and creating an endless wonder. The true essence of the body is naturally born with Gui water, which is the first merit of returning all laws to the clan. Holding the bright moon in his hand, he attracted the golden wind, and his lungs were peaceful and bright. It supports heaven and earth and blocks the circulation of sanyang, spleen and stomach. The Overlord's power to lift the tripod is great, and the Sanjiao is connected to the liver and gallbladder. Who knows the wonderful method of river chariot? Yin and Yang have crossed the river and the fire has been pacified. The five qi of the five elements meet each other and merge with each other. The collection of all kinds of meridians must not be light. After the five elements guiding skill is completed, the essence inside and the essence outside will be transformed into longevity. The circulation diagram included the preparatory form (original form): Taixu Ascension. The circulation posture was to stand naturally, with both feet horizontally spread out to the same width as the eyebrows, forming the shape of an 11. The head was straight and the body was straight. The two eyes were slanted forward and downward. The whole body was relaxed from head to toe, and the hands naturally hung down on both sides of the thighs. The mental cultivation method was to relax the body, visualize the body and the vast universe as one, and enter the state of selflessness. The first style was to consolidate Zhen Yuan internally. The target was the kidney. In the human body, the kidney was one of the five elements that belonged to water. The kidney was in charge of storing essence. The quality of a person's physique and the strength of the internal organs were directly related to the function of the kidney. Essence was the source of energy for the human body and the basic material for refining pills internally. The second move was to hold the bright moon in one's hand to open the lung meridian of Taiyin and guide the lung qi to facilitate the natural opening of the pores on the whole body to breathe with the universe. Then, he would use the Guiyuan technique to guide the inner qi into the dantian. The third style, the Sky Lifting Scissors, was used to adjust the spleen and stomach.
The Taiyi Massage Daoyin Technique originated from the Zhengyi Sect of China Taoism. It was a kind of health cultivation method that could promote the circulation of blood and qi in the whole body. It could deeply exercise the 12 meridians, 365 acupoints, internal organs, and even internal functional tissues such as the inner ear and nasal mucus. The key points were relaxation and a smile on the face. Relaxation could make the body enter the state, stimulate the subconscious, and stimulate the body's self-healing potential through movements. People with different physiques and affected parts would have different situations when exercising, and the body would automatically adjust. Smiling on the face was a positive consciousness, which could create a pleasant environment and improve the effect of practicing. This cultivation method had 15 movements, including rubbing the face with air (can be used for beauty, promote blood circulation in the face, etc.), pinching the nose (can move deep into the nasal mucus membrane to treat nasal sensitivity and other nose problems) and other movements, as well as their corresponding effects. There was also Wudang Taiyi Five Elements Technique, commonly known as Wudang Taiyi Five Elements Daoyin Technique. It was an auxiliary technique of Wudang's alchemy method. It mainly focused on guiding and was an important example of Wudang's alchemy method to attract qi through form. Its function was to strengthen the functions of the five internal organs through physical movements and provide assistance for refining pills internally. It included the preparatory stance and various postures, such as the True Essence Internal Strengthening stance (related to kidney function, the kidney being in charge of storing essence), the hand supporting the bright moon stance (opening the lung meridian of Taiyin, guiding the lung qi, etc.), the sky supporting the scissors stance (adjusting the spleen and stomach), the overlord lifting the tripod stance (making the triple energizer unobstructed), etc.
