They wanted to create a unique feast, but they faced many problems. On the one hand, the water quality of the Seine River was worrying. Non-governmental environmental organizations had repeatedly taken samples and found that the water quality was not up to standard. The E. Coli bacteria had seriously exceeded the standard. This situation had cast a shadow over the environmental image of the opening ceremony. During the competition, many exciting moments were presented. Top players from all over the world competed fiercely in various iconic venues in Paris. For example, in the Roland Garros Stadium, which had a history of nearly a hundred years, the China team Zhang Zhizhen and Wang Xinyu fought bravely in the semi-finals of the Olympic mixed doubles tennis team. The stadium, which was built for the 1998 World Cup, transformed the track into purple during the Olympic Games, like a lavender field, adding a romantic color to track and field events. In the Arena of the Champ de Mars, the semi-finals of the women's freestyle 50kg class were also held smoothly. As an important historical and cultural symbol of France, the temporary arena on the east side of the Champ de Mars became the venue for judo and wrestling competitions. The stadium also witnessed the exciting moment of the Olympic beach volleyball group stage. Under the twilight, the lights of the tower and the stadium reflected each other. The tower built for the 1889 World Exposition carried a hundred years of history and held beach volleyball and blind football competitions during the Olympic and paralympics. However, this Olympics also encountered a lot of controversy. It was estimated to cost 8.2 billion US dollars, but in reality, it could reach 10 billion US dollars. It became the third most expensive Olympic Games in history, but there were many problems with the organization of the event. There was no air conditioning in the Olympic Village, which led to the difficulties faced by athletes from all over the world. The Italian women's team even refused to stay in the Olympic Village for fear that the accommodation conditions would affect their rest and thus their performance. There were also serious mistakes in the men's football game. The goal of the Argentina team in the game was blown, and the game was only played for three minutes after a two-hour break. These situations exposed the unprofessionalism of the organization of the game. In the early morning of August 12th (Beijing time), the Paris Olympics ushered in the closing ceremony. The closing ceremony was held at the Stade France, which could accommodate 80,000 people. It had been carefully transformed into a huge "concert hall" with a 2800 square meter stage. The artistic performance of the closing ceremony was directed by the famous French director, Thomas Joly. It was called "Record" and told a fantasy story that combined "miracle" and "dystopian" elements. It presented the scene of the revival of the Olympic Games after its disappearance, including "travelers from another time and space" coming to Earth to find the Olympic ruins and erect the five rings. Many celebrities also participated in the closing ceremony. The popular French bands Phoenix and Air took the stage together, while Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise descended from the 42-meter-high roof of the Stade France and took away the Olympic flag on a motorcycle. Then a film was shown showing him bringing the flag to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, including parachuting onto the Hollywood letter sign and passing it to athletes in different events. In the end, Sun Yingsha represented the Asian athletes and blew out the flame with everyone. The Paris Olympics ended perfectly in the starlight and fire. The Chinese delegation had performed well in this Olympic Games, ending with a total of 40 gold medals, 27 silver medals, and 24 bronze medals. It was the best result in the history of foreign participation since China fully participated in the Summer Olympics in 1984. Although the Paris Olympics had come to an end, the many memories it left behind, whether it was the wonderful moments of the competition, the unique opening and closing ceremonies, or the controversial events, would become a colorful stroke in the history of the Olympics.
