Du Fu (712 - 770) was one of the great poets of the Tang Dynasty. He was born in an official's family, but because of his family's decline, he encountered many difficulties in life. Du Fu had experienced political turmoil, social change, personal setbacks and many other setbacks. His poems mostly reflected these topics, showing a deep humanist feelings and a strong sense of social responsibility.

Du Fu's poems covered a wide range of content, including lyric poems, narrative poems, philosophical poems, landscape poems, and many other types. His poetry style was vigorous, bold, unconstrained, and infectious. He was known as the "Poet Saint".
