In the pioneer work, Crying in the Drizzle, the time narration adopted two methods: linear time narration and jumping time narration. A linear time narrative refers to the time clues in the work that unfold in a linear order, such as the time clues of the protagonist's growth. In Crying in the Drizzle, the protagonist's childhood, teenage years, and youth are clear and distinct. The readers can clearly feel the passage of time and the growth of the characters. Jumping time narration meant that the time clues in the works were not unfolded in a linear manner, but there were time jumps between certain time points and events. For example, in " Crying in the Drizzle," the protagonist recalled some of his childhood and youth experiences in his middle age. These memories did not unfold in time order, but happened in jumps between certain time points and events. This kind of time narration could enhance the mystery and story of the work. Yu Hua used these two narrative techniques to show the protagonist's growth and life experiences in different ways, and at the same time, it also provided readers with rich imagination and reading experience.
