As Yue slept peacefully, the young elf woman and dwarf sat back down by the fire. "Old man, what do you think? That magic just now..."
"Aye… Definitely ancient magic… And its strength is beyond anything I would have expected." The dwarf replied. He stroked his beard and looked up at the top of the rock. "I do, however, do not think she is a threat to us. If she was, I am sure she would have easily killed us."
"Your words are true. If she truly wished to harm us, she would have by now. I will take her word for it. I did not feel any malice even when she forced us to sit." The young elf woman's interest in Yue had actually been piqued with how Yue so effortlessly used an ancient magic like it was nothing.
With nothing bothering her for the rest of the night, Yue slept like a log. She had not slept much in the past two days. So being able to sleep without worry was nice. Her only complaint was that she did not have any dreams about handsome man. Well, none that she could remember anyway.
Yue woke up and waved her hand, getting rid of her barrier before rubbing the sleepiness away from her eyes. She slowly stood up and packed up her pillow and blanket before giving her body a good stretch. "Now then, it's time to continue my jou..."
"Little Lass, if you are up, come have some breakfast." The dwarf's old voice yelled up to Yue.
Yue had not expected to be invited to breakfast after her little show last night. She only did it because she did not want any kind of fighting going on. But now, here they were offering her breakfast. This made Yue feel guilty about her actions. But if she had to do it again, she would not change how she acted. It was not because she was trying to show off her power. But because it was the quickest and least violent option than fighting the two with weapons. If they had not drawn their weapons first, she would have completely ignored them.
Yue leaned over the edge curiously to see the two busy cooking up some food. It was not that she was easily swayed by food, but the smell of what they were cooking was making her salivate. Yue pursed her lips and hopped down from the rock and sat on the opposite side of the fire, not wanting to get too close to the other two in case it made them feel uncomfortable. This little action did not go unnoticed.
"My name's Leena, and this old man here is Yustel." Leena introduced the two of them. She smiled at Yue, who was sitting crossed legged holding her feet rocking back and forth.
Hearing Leena, introduce herself and the old dwarf made Yue smile. This meant they held no hard feelings to last night and that they trusted her even if it was just by a little bit. "My name is Yue. Yue Noret. I apologize for how I handled things last night."
Yue couldn't help but feel guilty. It looked painful being slammed on your butt like that. And with how nice the two were being to her this morning, she had to at least apologize for her actions. Leena and Yustel both looked at each other and grinned. Their feelings about the young girl were spot on. "Haha! Don't worry about it. In a way, it is our own fault for jumping to conclusions. Everyone does something for a reason. I am sure you had your reasons as well."
Yue nodded and decided to explain why she killed the noble."Mm… The person, that noble, was the cause of three young girls only a few years older than me, becoming breeders in a goblin's nest that should have been destroyed. When I found them, I was the one who saved them from their plight, and I also promised as I watched their bodies burn that I would kill everyone and things that did this to them. And it was because of that man wanting to use the goblin's nest for a test that those girls were harmed in the first place."
"Bah! This is why I hate nobles! Whether it be human, beastkin, dwarf, or elf, they are all the same!" Yustel yelled out in anger. He then walked over to Yue and sat down next to her, passing her a mug with a red fluid in it. "Have a drink, ye deserve it."
"You damn old man, do not pass your dwarf juice to a young girl!" Leena quickly ran over and snatched the mug out of Yue's hand. Yue sat there, her hand still in the motion of taking a sip, and pursed her lips. She really wanted to try what was in the mug! It smelled sweet! "Yue, it may smell good but do not let this old man fool you. He did the same to me, and he did it in the same way. I took one sip and felt like I was going to pass out! Then for almost five days, he spent the entire time making fun of me for not being able to hold my liquor!"
"Oh..." Yue looked over at Yustel, who turned his head away and began whistling like he was an innocent old man and had no idea what Leena was talking about. This caused Yue to chuckle.
"Anyway, I will get you a bowl of soup. We could only find horned rabbits around here. I seasoned it up a bit, but it should taste good." Leena took the mug of ale and poured the contents out on the ground, causing Yustel to yell out in horror. "You damn elf, how could you waste such good stuff!?"
"Take it as a lesson not to try to get everyone drunk off your damn moonshine!" Leena yelled.
"Ahh, you called my sacred brew, moonshine!"
Seeing the two bickering caused Yue to laugh and smile. The two must have been traveling together a while, or else they would not be this close. As the two bickered, Yue watched on warmly. She felt her new beginnings were already looking up.
That was until later that day… "We are surrounded!"
"Why the hell are they orcs of all things!?"
"Shut up, you stupid elf, and get ready to fight!"
