Raidan -

It's 3 am now. I just returned from the lab. Throughout the day I have been really disturbed by the thought that Lam might be angry with me cause we dropped the case, that's also without telling her. In spite of knowing that she had been working on it. And yeah, thanks to her reports that we solved the case so soon. I wanted to call her during break times but I was too held up by the work in my hands to even have a break. Now I want to call her. But it's too late. I dialed her number hoping that she will pick up. She picked up. I said 'hey' as soon as she picked up.

She questioned , "Who are you?"

At first I thought that what I fared was happening. But the next moment I realized that, she was probably sleeping cuz her voice sounded so sleepy and that's why she didn't realize who I was.

I cleared my throat and said, "I'm Raidan".

I guess she was shockingly surprised and that's why she sounded completely awake when she said, "How can I help you?"

"Talk to me, maybe?", I said, trying to be funny.

"What do you want to talk about so late at night?"

I could feel the irritation in her voice. "I'm so sorry for calling you this late. But I just thought that , I owe you an explanation. Were you sleeping? Did I disturb you?" I said hastily.

"It's 3 am in the morning, what else do you expect?" she said sharply.

"You are holding a grudge against me, aren't you?" I said feeling half hearted.

"Grudge? Against you? Why? Did you do something bad? And on top of that I don't know what grudge is!!" she said. She is playing dumb with me.

"I'm sorry that I didn't tell you about the case. Actually last night after returning home, I talked over it with my brothers. Well, there were some mistakes in the report you had made.... The..."

"The person we were thinking as the kids biological father wasn't actually their biological father. He was their step-father. But since he has been with them since their birth, everybody is thinking of him as their real father. Is that what you wanna tell me? ". She said stopping me. I was surprised. I didn't expect her to know all about it.

"Yeah but how do you know?"

"Well actually I worked on this till 3:30 am last morning. And then I made a presentation from 5:30 am to 7: 30, hoping to reveal the whole case to you guys during the presentation", she must have said that with a smirk.

"I'm so sorry. But by the way, what did you mean by revealing the whole case? What did you find out?" I asked out of curiosity.

"Let me tell you a story.... Once upon a time there was a very rich pregnant widow woman, who met a middle class man on the eighth month during her pregnancy . Seeing the kindness and generosity of the man and feeling his love for her, she married him. She felt blessed to have him in her life. Soon she gave birth to twin kids. And as she was married to the man, the man gave them his name. And they grew up as his kids. But after the delivery of the kids, the mother fell sick. She became weak and weak day by day. She died 3 years after the child birth. After her death, her husband broke down. And you know what happened after that?"

"What?"

"That man got into a car accident along with the kids. But surprisingly that man was slightly hurt while the kids fought for their lives on the operation table. Thankfully they survived that time. But danger seemed to follow wherever they go. But they survived everytime. And then the most shocking thing happened.... The kids got lost. They somehow got separated from their father. And then he came back without them. Leaving them in the jungle, where they had gone for camping. Again thankfully few people found them and handed them to the local child welfare authorities. And when they reached home with their help, their father refuse to recognize them", she stopped with a sigh.

"Now comes the questions, like why? what happened? Why did he do this?" she continued.

"Well, here comes the twist, the man whom everyone thought as an angel, turned out to be a devil. He poisoned his wife from the first day of their wedding in order to be the owner of her money and properties. After his wife died, he thought he would get all of her properties but apparently the woman had made her kids the owner of all her properties. They could claim the wealth after being 18 years old. So, he planned to kill the kids as well. But they survived everytime. So he deliberately left his kids in that forest and told people that they were lost .But when they came back, he was shocked and irritated and that's why he pretended to not know them".

"But thanks to the person who complained against him", she must've given a smile.

Cause I know how she is. I've always seen her feeling joyful whenever something good happens, well it doesn't matter with whom.

"Actually Lam, we didn't drop the case. We have already solved the case. We solved it last night. And then we gave the report to professor Bailey. The boys were worried that you guys may get angry if you guys knew that we had solved it without telling you and that's why we said that we had dropped the case", I wanted to come clean with her.

"Raidan, why are you explaining these things to me. I remember your condition.... I remember that you had said 'inside the club you are not my husband and outside the club you are not my team captain'. So, I understand. No need to explain". I'm really happy that I didn't see her say it. Cause I'm pretty much aware of how her facial expression might be right now. It's way too scary.

"I'm sorry that I couldn't stand by your side when you needed me , yet. But Lam..... Never mind. You should sleep now afterall we have an interview tomorrow. Good night". I wanted to explain her about another thing. But I guess now is not the right time.

"Hmm.... Good night", she hung up.
