Bryce sat there stewing in his thoughts until the pizza arrived. He walked over to the play structure to call his son down and a minute later Wesley eagerly came down a slide and ran toward the table with pizza.
It was mediocre at best but watching the boy happily chow down made it one of the best meals he ever had. He was in the middle of eating his third slice (hey, he was hungry!) when he was attacked with a sudden question.
"You were asking a lot about Mom earlier. Why?"
He wasn't entirely sure how to answer that. He didn't know how many details Wesley knew about the situation that had kept the three of them apart for so long and he didn't want to make Jenna look bad in front of him either. Whatever problems they had were between them and their son shouldn't be involved.
"Because I missed her," Bryce ended up saying honestly. "We haven't talked in a long time so I want to know how she's doing."
